Hi,

i am going away on a holiday for a week plus. Is there any place or workshop that i can park my bike while i am away. I don't feel safe leaving my bike in the mscp for that long. I may also need someone to start my bike once every few days.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks much...

Park inside your friend's house? That's what I do.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a friend, not that hard.

Treat your friend to a good meal in exchange?

Week plus is actually safe to leave the bike inert, with battery (-ve terminal) disconnected. I've left bikes around for around 3 weeks; still fine after that. May be a good idea to change the EO immediately after a long absence.

If it's a period of months I'd try to borrow some secured parking space as aforesaid and do what they do for winterization.

We know the risks of entrusting our bikes to others so sometimes, it's a good idea not to risk someone else having the keys.

Dont worry bro!!

Park ur bike on the ground storey MSCP.

Buy a few hardened pad lock with min shackle diameter 10mm - one on front brake disc, one on rear brake disc or on the chain, the rest is all up to u.

Go to the nearer police station/post, tell them that u are gg holiday for a few week and where u park u bike (model, colour, car park lot no.). Pass them a set of keys and ur contact no.

Lastly, If u still dont feel safe...........

Pass ur key to me, I'll jaga ur bike + warm up everyday with no charge FOC..

ugh... dont park it in a bike shop, there are some bloody bike shops that are in the business of swapping your good parts for crappy ones. anyway the fee is exorbitant.

a week plus is fine, park her in your mscp, buy a bike cover and cover her up and tie it up tight. should be no problem.

if u entrust your bike to friend, it may be better to get the friend included in the insurance too. cuz u know how tempting it is to have a beautiful bike under your care... your friend might be tempted to take her out for a spin... no problem with that unless the friend is not under insurance and is stopped by tp...

for me, either i plan my bike for a major servicing so that i can leave my bike at shop, simply remove the battery terminals and off the fuel or pass the keys to my friend..

most commonly done was the second, as i dun need my bike to go thru so many long servicing, then dun need to trouble my neighbour..

if your buddy or friend is simply serious abt just taking care of your bike, they wun ride it without insurance.. just like your best friend tells you to take care of his gf while he's going for BMT..

Find a good friend who just sold his ride and ask him to ride yours for a week lah :)

Just cover your bike up and padlock it. No need to be paranoid.

I travel frequently between 1 to 2 weeks, and have no issues with dead batteries. Your bike will be just fine even if it is parked for a month. Just close the petcock and idle the bike till the floatbowl runs dry. Not applicable for FI bikes though.

Once machines say no, the world will be totally different. ala Matrix, Terminator, etc.

imagine this scenario

owner: ARGH IM LATE I NEED TO BE AT OFFICE IN 5 MINS!!! MY MAJOR CLIENT IS COMING FOR MEETING and I overslept!! Start up, and make it fast, bike!

bike: No.

(owner scraps bike the next day)

Get an older bike cover, put it up and tie a tight knot next to the rear wheel. It'll be immune from even parking aunties :3

New bike covers get stolen. Bike covers full of holes, tyre marks, burn marks, random paint marker drawings serve their purpose incredibly well.

if your parents or sibling can help out in the engine warm up should be fine. Unless the trip involve the whole family.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Alamak. Nothing bad will happen to the bike even if parked untouched for a couple of months. Just follow these few simple steps!

Pump full tank (if metal tank). This helps to prevent rust

Pump up tire

Oil chain

Turn off petcock, idle bike till run out of petrol (this helps prevent petrol drying up in the carb and clogging up tiny passageways)

Disconnect battery

Cover

If leaving for prolonged periods (e.g. few months), inject about 10cc of engine oil into the engine through the spark plug hole. This helps to prevent the cylinder bore from rusting.

My CBR started up within 2 cranks after parking for 1 year. My XR started within 3 kicks after 2 years. So there.
