My input:

just got back from knox distributor at jurong west to get the aegis back protector, feels good and kept inline with ur spine bones..got it for 215..This is for the case of me going NSH..

ask him if i could upgrade my level 1 alpinestar armour which i got from regina, he wasnt sure but was more than willing to help and see what he could do. So i brought my alpinestar textile jacket and changed the elbow, shoulder and back protector for only 90 and best part is the replacement armours are all knox level 2. Fits perfectly. :thumb:

Saw in his shop a mesh jacket which is a prototype and he is selling for 100 flat (pics attached)..comes with knox armour and gd reflective too...they also have those raincoat with armours too..again less than 100..really really affordable and of gd innovation i must say..

I would recommend those of you who are beginners and those who are looking to upgrade their armour to visit them..im not advertising for them but just feel that their no obligation services are really meant to help us with safety.

can someone recommend me a place to alter my riding pants? it's too long! the knee protector is protecting my shins instead of my knees :(

done once.... at army market. but not all shop can do, but they will direct you to one particular shop which can alter thick materials..

Knee guards are ok for town rifing' date=' easy on easy off, easy to stach in a box or even a bag. Worst case scenario, you leave them by the bike locked in some bag. Very doable and very easy, best part is they don't even wrinkle the pants ![/quote']

Do you wear yours regularly?

I bought a pair of Thor quadrant knee guards recently and tried wearing them today under my jeans. It felt ok but is hard to remove without taking off my jeans. Wearing them over the jeans look funny?

I exchanged my pants to a pair of apinestars knee/shin guard. I find it more practical? at least I can wear shorts to ride(I know it's not advisable..) pants are kinda troublesome for daily commuting, better for touring.

Bike: 2005, zx-6r

Purpose: Commuting, and some adrenaline rush at times

Gear ATT (all the time):

1. Full face helmet

2. Leather gloves

3. Riding jacket with elbow, back and shoulder inserts

4. my good old caterpillar shoes

5. normal jeans

sometimes due to meetups with non-biker friends or other function. i would strip down to just a full face helmet. but, when that has to happen, i would be taking public transport

was thinking that too. at least with knee guards, it can go with anything else. any review on your knee guards? where did you get them from?

hmm, got them at reginas. 80? u try bargaining with them. I didn't because I did an exchange. so far so good. may look silly wearing them but I don't care, my life is more precious than looks.

just had an incident where a truck knock me on the right elbow and my handlebar, as I was in his blind spot and both of us were changing lane in traffic conjestion.

The knock was quite hard but I did not feel any pain, due to my new Komine CE approved mesh jacket bought from motoworld 3 weeks ago. This allow me to just concentrate on regaining control of the bike and I did not fall...PHEW!!!

Lesson for me is, be aware of moving into any BlindSpot and Always Gear Up. I have been real slack abt wearing my kneeshin guard.

For those with limited budget I suggest going down to Motoworld to check out the RS Tachi and Komine Mesh Jackets (S$130-190).

Komine jackets are now CE protectors with standard EN1621-1 (errrr.... dunno what this means but i am sure google has the anws)

er... why in the first place would you want to put yourself in a blind spot?

example. a big junction right turn... oncoming traffic... taxi behind me gets impatient

once traffic clears, and as i'm moving out for the turn, he shoots out behind me to my right and makes the turn... if he'd ploughed into me that day, don't think my full face, jacket and boots gonna save me...

it was a good thing, i did check my blind spot just before turning and noticed the mo'fo

so what else can you do...

drop a gear... over take him... show him this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/antartica/Baby-pointing-middle-finger.jpg

don't think you're invincible with your gear on... it happens

even a full race track suit's not gonna save you if you get knocked some where else other than a tap on your elbow... short of full metal armour

good stuff on gearing up... but not too good on positioning next to other vehicles.

Grounded... :/

totally agreed!

Gonna stay AWAY fr Blind Spot if I can... I am a noob with only 1yr plus of riding under me.

keep the gear on when you're riding :)

that's a good thing

just elarn to be more aware of your surroundings and your own vehicle's position with other's around you and you'll defnitely be able to stay out of blind spots... don't just think about trucks, vans and lorries... even motorcycles have blind spots

in case you haven't already... go read the stickies in this section

Bikes & Bytes

you'll prolly spend a few days (non-stop) reading through all the wisdom the and be lucky if you can remember even 5% of it

but it's all excellent reading materials even if you have 1 year or 10 years or 100 years on the road :)

like it says in my siggy

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.-Anon

ride safe and save the donut's for the fair grounds ok :thumb:

i usually nd more space in my box for my shopping and raincoat.. or my frens helmet.. so i find it impractical to stuff my mesh jacket in tgt.. plus, goretex boots around town, nt the look that i like.. :)

True, sometimes practicality rules over function...

BTW does anyone here ride with gear without topbox/panniers? How do you carry all the gear around when let's say you go to work?
