Been having lots of problem with the sgt shutting down at 50% and the phone and 3G function failing at 40%. Damn pissed. Recently my sgt refused to charge up to 100%. While charging, it randomly stopped but status still charging (charge for 8hrs, but only 26%). Digging thru my store I found a bottle of lexpure electronic solvent. Spray the charging point contacts liberally and it seems to have solved the battery power issue.

On first charge, I am able to use the SGT for 25hrs. Surf net, SMS, Tel, PLay games... and it functioned all the way down to 15% (Charge warning) without sudden shutdown. Phone/3G data service were functional and working. Will monitor the situation.

So if you have a battery power issue, try cleaning the charging contacts. Our humid and dusty environment might be screwing up the charging contacts resulting inefficient charging.

Went to Samsung service centre to complain about phone laggy and battery suddenly went flat.

They took in and replaced the battery and loaded in Generbread OS V2.3.3.(Under warranty claim)

So far happy with the battery performance but cant say the same for the new OS..

still find its abit slow when browsing the net, but slight improvement over the old OS.

Did they scrutinised the warranty card... I bought mine from a friend (who bought Ipad2) the warranty card not stamped by the dealer. Only the barcode sticker is there.

The batt really sucks 60% and the system can no longer connect 3G... SICK!

On 3G surf net On & Off (3G always ON) most usage is local like Memo taking, Calendar, games, watch movies in SDCard. Few hours the Batt reaches 60 - 50%. From then onwards, either it suddenly shut off OR auto switch to airplane mode (3G and Phone dead). Only WiFi usable. in this case it is either sudden death or battery suddenly becomes 1% with warning.

I think I can only purchase the batt from Ebay and replace on my own liao... warranty is in unknown status...

I bought my SGT 2nd hand and think the warranty expired already, how ever the service centre took it in under warranty claim and said that it's the last and final claim since i did not produced mine.

But if you have the warranty card, it is best to bring along.

You need to refresh your battery data cache. Otherwise eventually your battery % will just drop without warning to 3% and the reactor starts melting down. J/k.

How to reset cache?

1. Turn off the tab.

2. Plug in charging cable. The battery charging indicator will appear.

3. Touch and hold the screen, and then press the power button. Keep holding your finger on the screen.

4. This will reset the 'battery stats' data and make your battery % more accurate.

Source: Secret Samsung technician info.

Alternatively you can also get one of them battery calibration apps from Android market, which will give you a set of instructions to calibrate your battery by getting you to charge the tab fully, press a button on the app, drain battery to 0 and viola, accurate battery stats.

Anyway I have not been posting here for a while, too busy enjoying the tab and other android phones. Tiny phones like the HTC Wildfire S make for excellent speedometer displays and GPS data logs. Easy to mount on any bike handlebar too.

My tab has fell victim to the "First generation China made battery bug" where the internal battery contacts eventually come loose after 6 months (giving only 50% battery life) and require 'minor surgery' inside the tab to restore full functionality. Look forward to performing the 'operation' this weekend. The procedure is so simple to do, I'm not bothered with sending it back to Samsung :)

How much is that monster? I heard they were going to sell it at ipad style prices (including paying upwards of $200 for extra storage), that's why I skipped it. 16gb memory chips do not cost $200.

I removed the cover, disconnect and reconnect the battery. Batt performance is good. Charged the batt to near 90% @ 1800hrs... Didn't use much except surf abit net. batt level now at 84% @ 2100hrs.

Updates 26/11 @ 1945hrs... lightly used with internet, some games... 12%, charging now. Should have done it earlier! Mercedes Screw driver $7, SGT w/o Batt issue priceless!

Nice work @Limsteel - I also did 'minor surgery' to my SGT yesterday. Instead of disturbing the battery connector I discovered that my problem was a sudden temperature spike during heavy processor usage that causes battery temp to shoot up above 65 deg C and then lose it's charge without warning.

Upon opening the case I saw the battery was somehow bloated up with gas, which possibly insulated the battery and prevented the unit from cooling off. I removed the white plastic wrapper on the battery, replaced the battery and made a few small vent holes on the top and bottom of the back cover to prevent this gas buildup.

For the whole of last night the temperature did not exceed 38 deg C despite high processor and data usage (games, HD movies, lots of multiple tab surfing).

I didn't really see an issue with the battery connection because my SGT was for a few months used as a dashboard and heads up display (HUD) projector on my bike and survived rain, shine and excessive vibration splendidly.
