Any of you guys here know, apart from KRTuned, LeoVince, Remus, Akra, what other street legal pipes? Of all that are mentioned, think Leovince is the only affordable within $1.5k range. The rest are all high end to me. Scorpion seem like, is still not firm if it will be street legal. So fill the rest of us in.

Hey Guys, time of the month for meetup. Just try to make it if you can. The KOC (Kawaski Owners Cluc) can if you can. Place will be at Kallang KFC but we shall not park inside the carpark as it is chargeable now and I foresee the place to be quite packed since it's a Saturday. Instead, we shall park beside where the old bus terminal used to be. That means you go pass the entrance to Kallang Mac & KFC, come to a left bend where it splits into left & right lanes. Take the left and park by the side. How's that?

Time : 8pm

Date : 05th Mar 2011 (Saturday)

Place : Kallang KFC

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

See Battery Cross Reference Chart below.

Metric Dimensions: 150mm x 87mm x 145mm

Metric Weight: 3.7 kg

Polarity:

Acid Volume: 0.69

Amps: 1.4

C.C.A.: 240

This model which is recommended by owner's manual cost $60 cash n carry and its made in JAPAN (Not CHINA)!

Battery Family: Maintenance Free

Battery Type: YTX14-BS

Voltage: 12

Capacity: 12

Dimensions: 6" x 3.4375" x 5.75"

Weight: 8.1 lbs.

Metric Dimensions: 150mm x 87mm x 145mm

Metric Weight: 3.7 kg

Polarity:

Acid Volume: 0.69

Amps: 1.4

C.C.A.: 200

The difference between both is the weight and C.C.A value, I dont know what that signify. Anyone here care to share? Sharing this cos many bike shops I called quoted me $140 for a batt change for the normal ones and some were made in China. Lets not be ripped off. This price and batt that I mentioned can be bought at KS motor along Jalan besar. Its a few shops before Chiap Lee.

Ok guys.. found the answer...

Cold-Cranking Amps

Cold-cranking amps (CCA) measure the battery's ability to start your car even on an extremely cold weather. During freezing condition, your car will be hard to start (or to ignite) because the car's engine oil thickens and chemical reactions, in turn, slow down.

The cold-cranking amps also refer to the number of amps a battery will be able to support for 30 seconds at 0 degree temperature (until battery voltage reaches below minimum level).

Choosing a battery with a high number of CCA is better; particularly to those vehicles being driven in a cold climate. A higher cold- cramping amps assure that your car's engine will start obediently even on snowy mornings.

So in short we don need H-BS model.. damn.. I bought the wrong one then.. :slapforehead:. So guys just stick to the YTX14-BS. No need the high performance since we operate in tropical climate. So the cost shld be just $60 for a made in Japan battery.

Bro, you didn't buy the wrong battery. Didn't login earlier to see this. Our previous ride, the FJR have an extreme high CCA as well. And the battery was damn expensive because it's those gel type which is supposedly more lasting as well. Anyway, what you said about the CCA (cold cranking amps) is correct. These batteries suppose to be more effective for cold start. Now for our climate, it's good if we use the H-BS model as it requires lesser crank up. Which means lesser power usuage at startup.

I would say both pros and cons. If both a H-BS user and 14-BS user is up at Genting then the answer will be very obvious. So in short, in my own opinion, for us who tour on bikes, get the higher CCA battery. Afterall it's only a $50 difference.

Hi Guys,

Great meet up last night.. Though the Busa riders outnumber the '14 riders.. Next time need a bigger turn up.. :p

Tentatively the 4 '14s plan for a ride to Kanchanaburi in late May..

Should have been 5 14s. Sorry for the unexpected. So where is this Kanchanaburi? What's nice there?
