bro, u can jus paste the KM/Hsticker to replace the mph.. dat means, if ur riding at 30mph, it shud read as 30 KMH.. so normal speed is 90KMH ( beware of UNCLE )... haha.. anyway, bro zesture have already posted the solution if im not wrong.. jus pressed the two buttons found on the left side of the speedo together for a few seconds...

 

Really glad to see more and more BB's on the rd and on the forum.. so far i've seen 2 more unique BB (apart from KRR1100xx)..

 

1) Lucky Strike Design on BB (anybody seen this guy b4 in tamp area)

2) Metallic Maroon (VFR Maroon) / Black (Seen at Loyang Point area..)

Well, I'm using stock pipes too and i got the 25 blinks - same model as yours and Cagiva's (99 EFI).

 

Came back from the meeting with the mechanic who wanted me to change the damn ECU . . . $1200 bucks a pop with 2 keys provided.

 

Was thinking it would be better for me to try someone else's ECU to be sure that is indeed the problem, or if not to rule it out . . .

 

Somehow i think it's the least likely reason - but having said that, is anyone here who has the 99 EFI model going to do a service anytime soon? Would any kind soul be willing to lend me his ECU for 15 minutes while his bike is being serviced???

 

Would really like to put this behind me . . .

Hi all BB bros out here.. i got a 99 EFI BB.. Recently when i travel up to 80km/h, the FI light will light up continuously and only goes off after i stop my engine.. any bro knows what is wrong with my bike?

Hi rui, can you please check the number of FI blinks?

 

How to check?

1) when the fi light comes out, stop the bike but do not turn off the engine

2) Instead put the gear into neutral position

3) Kick out your side-stand, and then kick them back in

4) Remember to do it with your engine running in neutral with the FI light activated..

5) Count the number of blinks ( Long blink is actually 10 blinks.. so 2 long blinks and 5 short blinks will be 25 blinks (the infamous knock sensor).. once you gt the number of blinks, you can post back here.. we'll update you on your error codes...

Change ur knocking sensor or take out all wire harness, then clean all the connector pins..!

 

And remember, don't let any stupid mechanic to tell u change the bloody ECU or wire harness...! If that is what the tell u, then u can show ur middle finger in front of their face...

Hi Rui,

Yes you can ride your bike.. your bike is now so called riding on safe mode.. try not to use a low octane petrol and see if ders any diff...

 

You can try gg to shop and ask the mech to change your knock sensor which shud cost ard $150.. however, sometimes the error is caused by a faulty ecu and it cost $1000++ to change them..

 

Try resting your bike for 3 - 4 days and see if the blink is still der.. not sure of the logic behind this but dats wad happening to my bike.. no more 25 blinks.. hope it stays dat way...

Here i am sitting and thinking how i could definitively rule out one problem from the other and all this while other people are facing the same problem as well. . . .

 

Well guys i do have an idea - since I've just changed my knock sensor, I volunteer to let you swap it into your bike for 20 mins to see if it is really just the knock sensor.

 

If it turns out that doing that cures your bike however, you help me out by allowing me to swap the with your ECU for the same 20 mins to rule out that it's my ECU problem. If it doesn't cure your bike then you're in the same boat as me and no point swapping.

 

I have a 3/4 can of spray contact cleaner I don't mind spending 1 weekend with a few bros in a void deck somewhere (hopefully with less kids kicking the damn ball around) trouble-shooting . . .

 

The first part may have to be done at a mechanic though just to ensure none of us noobies damage any electronics - I suggest Planet, but any other reknown mech is good too.

 

Anyone interested? Let me know . . .

I didn't put hard panniers, but I will put soft saddle if I wanna go touring.

 

As for touring bike, so long you are on tarmac, it's a pretty good sports touring bike. not as comfortable as FJR/GTR and such, as you dont have tall windscreen like them. But definitely a very nice ride.
