Ignition advancer basically advance the firing of the sparkplugs by a few degrees before the original spec firing timing let say (17 degrees before top dead center/with igintion advancer it will be 13 degrees)

There will be an increase in torque at low and mid rpms...but will lose out some horsepower in high rpms..The ignition advancer by factory pro or etc works only in carb birds...FI birds have its own ignition advancer built in..and it works together with the knock sensor..When acclerating at low rpms at wot or 3/4 throttle...the ECM will advance the firing till the knock sensor detects spark knock/pre ignition(due to too advance timing) then it will retard the timing abit to prevent engine damage..

Too much advance causes detonation...thats the worst thing...best thing you bike pick up like bats out of hell...:thumb:

roarrrr... no more yoshi. :(

anyway, the side mount dampers? gosh. must drill frame right i heard? yes? no? hmmm

time to change eo again! 300v like not v suitable for bird bird. any other eo to recommend?

ignition advancer is to improve acceleration?

wats the trade off? top end?

yeah like what some said top end lor. hah anyway did u know our manual says oil change at every 8k miles? anyone got the balls to follow that regime? and what kinda oil you all use. some ppl whom used to ride birdy tell me use semi syn is better than fully syn.. anyone to back that up?

Hmmm i duno about this but fren(riding 08 busa) has ignition advancer ,best installed with another module call "optimizer"

And YES it does increase the pickup, fuel consumption would be way better(50-60km difference on a 08 busa) due to better spark plug firing, lighter on throttle, better engine breaking , as above high rpms no difference for speed,

Bought the whole set at $240 incld shipping (ignition advancer and power optimizer)

Haha...for eo,i normally use semi, get those cheapo ones every 5k change la.No need to get those high ends one unless u got moolahs to spare. These past few weeks i've been seeing lots of bb with different kalers.....brand new blue, brand new reds an lots of blacks....makes me smile whenver i see them.Blackbird is a legacy of sport tourers.Best of the best.

I used to have the advancer on my zx12....

but nv had tis optimizer thingy though....

Good explanation on the advancer thingy...

Best to get fixed advancer not the adjustable ones as they need to be tuned by the pros if not bye bye to yr engine.....

for the birds sadly factory pro only does for cabr bird as they had gotten back to me...

my apologises....

The advancer is for carb birds....

any carb birds inside here keen??

ok the side mount damper I will check out more info....

i hope no nid drill....

but regardless for side mount or even rotarty damper...

both nid drilling haiz...

too bad no company made tank mount dampers for bird....

& SKMW dun fab brackets for dampers any more...

EO wise my $$$$ is on AGIP TEC 15w50....

Republic offers a package of 4 NGK Iridium Plugs, 4 x AGIP Tec, 1 x oil filter with labour @ $140 & below...

forgotten the price liao.... U all can call in to ask Ah Boon...

Cheers!!!

Wow is great to see such an active and helpful BB community here...

Anyway i'm new to this thread and i'm about to get my class 2 soon and i really like the blackbird. So i was wondering if all you seniors could share some info about this bike cos i'm considering it as a viable class 2 vehicle.

1. How is the maintainence like for this bike?

2. What to look out for when buying a 2nd hand bird.

3. Can i mod the clutch spring to a harder one for a higher top speed to be on par with a BUSA?

many thanks in advance!!!

First of all, welcome to the nut house. Where ppl leaves their brains at home...

1) bike maintenance = change eo twice a year only.. spark plugs once a year only... good rite..

2) when choosing your bird, do it with your heart.. you got to feel it bro.. probably the thing you need to know are the common probs with BB such as rattling clutch gasket sound... if you are gg for the FI model, try and check for 25blinks..if the bike has 25 blinks symptoms, u will probably need to spend another $1300 to change the wiring and ecm to rectify..

3) yupx, if you change your clutch spring to a harder one, you will definitely go faster.. a cheap mod that reaps great benefits.. we all swear by it..

Clutch spring story again???.....wahahahahahaha.

The only way to make ur bb faster is to turbo it..BB is a sport-tourer not a sportbike.

Can play in track but not as nimble as sportbike.Main important is dat it can go fast like a sportbike but gives better comfort than a sportbike.

The only way to make a carb bike faster.

1)Main jet use Dyno jetting

2)Aftermarket exhaust.

3)Aftermarket air filters

4)Ignition advancer which is hot in the topics rite now plus additional optimizer.

5)Balls of steel

6)Superb braking power.

For Fi(99-07)

1)Aftermarket pipes

2)Power commander...dunno how many series oredi...

3)Aftermarket airfilter

4)Heavier clutch spring...

5)Balls of steel

6)Superb braking power

Oh and lastly gd windscreen...u dun wanna hurt ur neck after blasting ur bike.....

anything else missing??

My orgasm starts at 299km/h.....

7) Big bore kit by wiseco...1195cc

8) Carillo Con Rods

9) Gas flowed cylinder heads, reworked valve trains(valve springs and staged cams)

10) Galespeed rims

11) Dynatec ignition system

12) Reworked cbr1000rr rear swingarm to fit onto the BB (shorter wheelbase)..

The list can go on...with that kind of $$ I would rather buy a zx14 or a busa for speed thrills and a blackbird for everyday transport bike...

Buying a bike depends on yr homework done & I believe u are doing it right now + lady luck plays a part oso...

Good luck in yr search mate....

I riding a carb bird....

1st cheaper to mod...

2nd the notorious 25 blink dun occur to me...

3rd no hiss ket thus making key is way cheaper...

Bad point of a carb bike, gt 2 maintain the carb & its joint....

aint't cheap when dealing wif the carb spares...

Yes the hot topic iginition advacner...lol

confirm no have for FI bird....

so any carb bird keen...? placing order soon liao....

Clutch spring are pretty cheap...

u can get EBC or Brannet...

but it didin't noe abt the performance gained...

I noe it provide better launching....

but in order to maximise tat gt to change to a bigger bore clutch pump, 16mm or 19 mm with a bigger bore clutch slave cylinder...(sadly good brand like STM dun do for bird; got to use other makes to mod in & it ain't easy)

there are many mods tat can be done but ain't worth the $$$$.....

but tat the fun part I got to agree though...lol

O ya.... performance...

u all got to support & try my UNLEASHED... voltage Stabilizer cum power booster!!!

Confirm increase performance; confirm feel the diff....

Dynochart to prove...

& way more affordable than any mod U can do...haha

Cheers!!!
