which EO/gear oil did you use? semi-syn/fully-syn, brand/model? i'm curious coz also change EO soon

i've been using castrol power 1 for my other bikes but dunno can use on SWing or not. any SWinger wanna recommend an EO? fuchs silkolene pro4? shell advance ultra? mobil 1? esso gold? motul? any others?

i'm also riding within that range coz still running in the engine

 

I am using mineral oil for my 1st eo change. infact, when i gotten my scooter I sent it for engine oil flush with new oil filter on the same day. you cannot imagine the engine oil colour that came out from the brand new scooter.

 

I have also been using maxima ultra for my previous S4 ride but wnder whether is it suitable for this wing or overkill?

 

 

driver only = front 220, rear 225

driver & passenger = front 200, rear 250

ya, I just notice that there was a sticker on tyres pressure requirement pasted at the plastic casinn just underneath the front seat (just need to look down when sitting on the bike and will see it)

can't find Wonderful Motor in Yellow Pages... thinking of sending bike for checkup by Dr Botak and also change EO this evening after work, eta around 6+pm should still be open right?

a boon siew sales staff told me 3 weeks ago that 2008 model and 2007 model exactly the same... u can call them again to enquire/confirm

i was wondering... how many km more do you travel after the fuel indicator blinks before refueling? the manual says we have 3.5L of reserves, ie. indicator blinks after around 12.5L is used. anyone tried pushing till the limit and then 好拾了... 推车了

 

tested ~30km, ~40km & ~50km after blinker appears, but highest topped up is still only ~14L, will try 60km next round.

why? trying to establish a "consistently" ~15L threshold point whereby crossing that means standby to push bike liow +/- 1L buffer is necessary to cater for road condition and riding pattern variations... i really dun wanna push bike

a 1L petrol canister would be a good insurance for these trials

Interesting Topic !! But i guess these experiments i carried out in January 2008 will be usefull to all SW owners :-

 

Standard 06 EURO version SW - 4000 km on clock.

 

1. After low fuel indicator start blinking got to 57km when the bike engine start shuddering and misfire then roll to a stop - COMPLETELY NO FUEL - (was using 95 octane) - My speed at that time was a constant 70kmph straight level road and cool at night.

 

2. After low fuel indicator start blinking as i left a 'lay by' on NS highway - i totally forgot and was cruising at 120 - 130 kmph when at 41km distance the engine just spluttered and stopped. Good thing i had a small alu jerry can of fuel on standby to get me to the next Petronas. This time i was using 97octane.

 

Hope this helps all of you - and if you do run out of fuel on malaysian roads - dont leave your bike unattended whilst you go and fetch fuel. Stop a vehicle and offer to pay them for some fuel or get them to go get some for you - most bikers (even cup chye) will be willing to help - just be nice and friendly and always buy them some makan or minum with rokok after they rescue you.
