Hey guys is it true that the class 2A cb400 is safer as compared to 2B bikes? I was comparing between the handling, breaking system and tire size... Am taking 2A soon and not very sure is it a good choice to upgrade to 2A, for me I think safety would be placed in front of looks and speed. Thanks!

finish 2a first.

and yeah, it's the rider not the bike.

just to let you know, S4 is one of the bikes with highest amount paid for insurance coverage. Theft and accident rate high.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

If ur riding a bike now, n tinking dat u gonna take class 2 after completing ur 2A then my advise is dun upgrade 1st.. After get class 2, then get a big cc bike more worth it... Meantime save lots of $$, u gonna spoilt for choice once u get ur class 2 :)

My personal view, Cb400's rear brake = Cannot make it.

By the way for Class 2a not much choices to choose. Period.

my opinion is; to jump from 150 cc to 600 cc and above is a big leap in terms of power, handling and weight for bikes. i dont have a class 2 yet (in progress) but there are definitely handling differences for bigger bikes. so i think to get a class 2a bike first would be good as it enables you to be are more familiar with heavier/bigger bikes before going for the big guns. that is what i thought and that is what most of my friend said. 150cc to 1000cc for example might be too much for some rider to handle. might get yourself into trouble on spore roads.

i have one friend who jump from tzm straight to cbr600 and he said he is not used to it too. So maybe it's true that 2A is machiam like a stepping stone to ride a class2. I not sure whether to choose super4, cbr or rvf leh...

Safe is in the hands of the rider, skill can be trained, you jump from 400cc to 1000 still a big leap in terms of power. Besides, modern superbikes come with traction control, selectable power modes, wheelie controle, electronic steering dampers and ABS etc, it being safer lies with you.

If you want to talk about bikes that are unsafe would be your 500cc 2 strokers, as heard from people who used to ride it, you have to do everything almost perfectly, gear shifts, throttle control, braking or it spits you onto the road.

I believe TS is asking about comparision between the machine. Nobody ask about rider safety.

So to ans the qn, I believe yes. With better brakes and wider tyres, it is indeed safer.

Oh like that ah? Then the bike very unsafe, 2 wheels only, no airbags, no seatbelts, no metal cage. Seriously, don't ride.

I agree with the others that it is the rider that matters. But what I can say abt having a bigger bike is that it is more stable compared to 2b bikes due to the tyre size. U can travel at a higher speed w/o feeling like gonna 'fly away'.

Handling wise, u will not be used to a bigger cc bike when u upgrade. Need to take some time to get used to it. THis is where the rider matters.

Brake system....can't comment. By right a bigger cc bike shld be using a better brake system.

yea i agree

TS is just asking about machine safety but then people choose to go into subjective factors like rider safety la.. etc etc.

anyway a cb 400 is definitely safer than a class 2b bike as it has wider tires, better brakes and more power to get out of certain situations on the road sometimes.

If you think about it critically, there must be a good reason why motorcycle makers come out with ABS, combined brake system and consumers pay a Premium for it. Why ABS models are more expensive? Because it makes the ride slightly safer, in the event that the 10% makes all the difference.
