[Discussion] TA 200 Fuel Consumption

I've been pumping SPC 92 and average FC is around 38km/l

And a tip for improving FC:

I used to get 34km/l. Then one day I decided to take a risk and used degreaser to clean my chain. After that let it dry for a few hours then lubricate heavily to make sure the lube gets back into the rings. Now I pump petrol only once a week :)

There's no difference if you use more than RON 92 on a phantom. I've been riding phantom for half a decade more, whether it's 92 SPC/Shell/Caltex/Esso doesn't make much a difference.

38-43km/L for FW plate.

I agree with you. :)

yah i tink rider weight n riding style play big part, esp on a small CC bike like ours. im regularly getting 33+/- km/l no matter wat RON petrol. 3 boxes + weighing almost 100kg. aggressive acceleration from lights + 100-110 (our speedo) on highway.

worst was riding in msia! i got about 29km/l !!! i avg 120-130 on our speedo. hahaha!

lol. that's pretty rough on your bike. i would advice dun speed too much.

i just overhaul recently not long ago.

my bike was taken over from my cousin 2 years ago.

he said he jus overhauled 1-2 years ago (then).

I used to keep riding at 110-120 (our meter) then.

ah chong asked me what happened? always speed is it.

he recommend dun go beyond 100.

that's why i tamed down now.

haha.

i overhauled last july. 7000km since and totally no issues. since i ride hard, i pamper my bike abit more. quality synthetic EO and max 1500km interval. proper warmup as well. i trust honda and especially phantom with such a simple bullet-proof design, its virtually indestructible provided proper maintenance. :)

dun get me wrong. im no speed demon who rides recklessly. i jux choose to keep up wif traffic or be ahead of them (since we know hw "good" drivers are nowadays) and riding slow on the left lane even more dangerous wif heavy vehicles nowadays going more than 80-90. just personal preference! :)

Woo, we overhaul around same time. Forgot my mileage since. Damn. Lol.

I used to use Motul 300V but realise it's kinda thin and has since changed to elf.

Not saying Motul 300V wasnt good, just that it wears out pretty fast.

I used to service at 2000 to 3000, but now i trying to keep it at 1500, want to protect my baby.

I understand that we are no speed demons, because our meters are +10km/h compared to other bigger CC vehicles (tested and proven).

Opps.. Seemed to have stray out of thread topic. Hehe.

1500 is wayyyyyyyy too early. lol. that's like every 5 weeks for every 300km! 3000 is fine already. If you wanna go abit further beyond 3000, do some top-ups on your own when its insufficient. Do regular top-ups when the lever is low, you won't know how your EO burns unless you have ones you trust and tested before. Then the next time when its down, bring it to the shop for servicing. :) The honda engine is quite durable, if you take good care of it, it takes good care of you too.

This bike only requires semi-synthetic. It all boils down to having sufficient EO levels in your engine. Buy a second bottle for top-ups.

Mine's a FV plate, expiring in 8 months time. Planning to renew COE.

Probably it's due to the style of riding? I accelerate moderately and average around 90-100, not more.

;)

me too :] it's either I find a better Class 2 [cb750] or Spec 1 at a Good price with decent mods and condition. Else I will just renew and ride for another 10years. [ 2nd Wife maybe]. The only think which cause me to hestitate about renewing COE is the Engine. Everything good and tip top condition :D

I change my EO every 1.5k or earlier. No harm getting new good oil :]

open pod filter + rejetting = 27km/l!!! hahaha! but im addicted to the throaty intake sound n stronger pickup + topend!! possibly reverting back to stock.

how you guys get FC more than 35 km/l and some even reaching 40+ km/l? mine is like 33 km/l... and I dont ride fast, mostly hittting 80 km/h speed.

different conditions of bike. plus rider weight, riding style. maybe u ride at 80km/h but if u accelerate hard n quick same thing oso. i have 3 boxes + 100kg weight and im happy to get 33km/l even wif quick acceleration n avg 110km/h on highway.

1st thing u can try is change ur air filter. then use good engine oil.

can someone summarise the good and not-so-good points about phantom?

wrong section. but to answer ur question from my point-of-view:

PROS: cheap maintenance, cheap parts, good FC, comfortable, reliable, lots of mod options, large fuel-tank, cheaper insurance for new riders.

CONS: not very fast, heavy compared to other 2B = a little harder to handle in low speed, "UNCLE BIKE".

Hi guys, i'm getting ard 37km/litres on my 8.5 years old honda phantom which i got from someone recently.

Is it considered ok to get this kind of stat?

Keep monitoring it a few times, if you consistently get that figure then it is very good.

Ok. I was also thinking could it be because i pillon my wife a few times resulted me getting 37km/litre? Maybe can even get 38 or 39km/litre?
