It looks pretty good. But I'm not sure with the reliability underneath the paint. Still can't really get much info on the Excel and compared with a PX. Or should I get a cheap PX and go mod it up.

Looks very good. You gotta factor in the COE renewal at the end of the day.

You may planned it all out about keeping aside the money to renew the COE when it comes, but most of the time you feel more like selling the bike off and keeping the COE money.

hehe but thats for me...if you really love the Vespa and know very confidently you will keep this bike, then there is no reason to go ahead and neg the price with the seller.

Heh... Thanks a lot for the opinions! I kinda like it but cos I'm not too familiar with vespa yet so not sure if it is a good investment or how much I should be putting in on an Excel which is Indo made. dunno if it is worth the price.

If possible I would love to ride it for as long as i can and maybe mod it up if i wanted something new along the way. Always wanted a vespa but nv got around to get it. heh..

thanks again!

Hi, I have bought and sold more than 7 classic vespa. I can tell you this, you do not have to worry much about the engine, even though the bike may seemed tired. They are very simple, sturdy, almost bomb proof. No major problem, mostly. The Excel is basically the same as the PX, but the gear ratio is better and you get a faster pick up. You may be put off initially knowing it is manufactured in Indonesia, but since they are younger in age than the early PX, you actually get a engine in better condition with less wear

Thanks pap89. ya... it being manufacture in Indo does put me off. but if it is the older version of excel is it still as good? somehow I'm more drawn to the PX. but when Excel compare to an '83 PX200 is PX better? and got comment from other people that 3k is too ex for an Excel too..

with some minor modifications... this scooter can go at a top speed of 130km/h! There's also an engine upgrade to 190cc for the lx150 too!

LX150 stated about 95kmh is rather accurate if you gonna say "comfortable" top speed.

You could take the original top speed in your stride and ride laidback style...you could also look for Mark for some

mods to pimp your LX up. ;)

but be reminded that you must be knowledgable about what you modified.

Some mods are not meant to last as long as original parts.

Do some reading up and you could just ask Mark for advice. ;)

Usage of much heavier rollers is ideal for higher cruising speed.

I believe 95km/hr isn't the top speed for lx150. Just that is a recommended cruising speed for this bike as any thing abv then 95km/hr, u might feel that ur bike begins to wobble due to it's weight is too light..

U might wish to consider a heavier bike instead for a better top range cruising? Which will improve stability at higher speed :D

:cheer:

Glad to have u in my life : ) Always love one another!

If you still like the vespa look can go for the 300 instead...

I had the lX150 and got the Malossi big bore kit, and put it almost every "power" modding parts except exhaust.. n the top speed is still around 125km/h.

Honestly, even if it can go to 150km/h, I wouldn't want to try it. The riding posture, gemeotry and the wheel size will make you feel very insecured. Most of the time, I end up cruising at 90km/h, where's it's pretty comfortable after the mods. Before it, I believe I was going around 80-90km/h too, just take it took longer to accelerate to the speed.

The LX150 is a lifestyle bike in my opinion. Easy to ride, nice to look at. Oh yes, it's extremely easy to weave around heavy traffic too. It's my favorite Orchard Road bike.

I used to have the GT200 before, and it's was alot more stable at the speed of 100-ish km/h. I never went before 125km/h as well, due to the lack of wind protection, and once again, the riding posture. Your body is literally like a sail. Overall, the GT200 feels more stable. I believe the new 250cc and 300cc vespa are around the same size with the GT200, with faster pick up, but I doubt you could go fast just because of smaller wheels, the lack of wind protection and riding posture.

dont get me wrong guys. im not looking for 120km/h

im ok with 90km/h if it is the normal cruising speed for vespa

specs say top speed: 59mph from vespausa.com (94km/h)

so come here to check because machine can't keep run at top speed ma

if the top speed is true, then i was thinking normal cruising speed is

which i would mind :)

Small cc four stroke scoots will have a prob cruising at ard 90-100km/h on stock. They are not design for that cos they suppose to scoot around the city. Factors that support are rims diameter, the floorboard design which seem to push air downwards creating the slight lift and the weight of the CVT tranny. I would say you go for maxi scoots like X8 and such...

Did piaggio bring in the GTS125? same outlook smaller engine, 2B rider can ride

Piaggio Service Centre is fine by standards, but when it comes to timely getting new models in, ADH never even got half a pail of water filled.

I would say in 3 words - WAIT LONG LONG...

hahaha...

ps...well keeping my fingers crossed they could prove me wrong...

Ok. Then to answer your question, I would say 80-85km/h is more of usual cruise speed for a full stock lx150. You will find it dragging a bit to reach 90-100 (on the meter), but I don't feel the engine being stress at 90-ish. At least I don't remember feeling that.
