Hi All,

I have heard that if your bike is parking at the jb shopping mall basement carpark, it will end up the whole bike getting lost or up the lorry haha so I like to seek some advice is there anyway to prevent getting stolen. Right now my bike have the alarm but which I think is not enough to prevent stolen at jb.

Could some experience bro or sis can advice some tips.....

U cant prevent theft.

But u can deter it.

-Try every disc brake u have lock it with a disc lock. Alarm ones

-a gd quality chain lock. Lock it to a fix pole or something

-a alarm with movement sensor (be sure to bring extra batt as it will drain it)

-canvas

-wrap steel wire to the canvas, lock it to a alarm padlock

-gps locater for the bike

-park at highly moving human traffic. Dead center of it. Even if u will have ur bike padlock by the management. (Hey,its better to get a fine then ur bike lost)

EASY,

first u disc lock front and back

then u chain your motorcycle from your front and back rims to round the pillar.

then u put a normal lock at your bike chain there

then u take remove your spark plug and handle bar.

Would like to add

As stated by wait4me

-take out sparkplug

-take out ur handlebars if its as clip ons or naked bar

All above I can say doesn't helps.

The problem is they will just get a couple of guys and lift your bike away, I believe no matter how good of a chain you brought to tie your bike with a structure, a industrial cutter like those use by the fire fighters will do the job.

Heck, they don't even care about triggering any motion alarm, it rings so what? public see already who will dare to step forward and stop? Guards at the mall are bribed before the operation too.

My advice is, if you wanna shop at any jb malls, park your bike at sg checkpoint and take a bus/taxi in. At least you'll have a peace of mind while shopping, right?

Oh ya, I think a GPS tracking device is quite a good idea, where can we get one? :/

I got mine at the IT fair at SunTec from the 007 shop.

Needs to put a SIM card, so that it will SMS you the current GPS coordinates it at.

Best to use 2 Malaysia pre-paid cards. I tried using M1 pre-paid SIM cards before, when you call the pre-paid card, you get charged for overseas SMS on your HP. Plus some pre-paid cards have no auto-ROM, so the tracker cannot SMS you the coordinates.

The tracker is about the size of a pager. For those too young to remember what a pager is think of the smallest clam shell HP you can find. it's that small.

Got a picture of it in eBay here. http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/2012-TK102-Spy-Mini-Car-Pets-Kids-GPS-Tracker-Real-Time-GSM-GPRS-Tracking-System-/271025281286?pt=US_Tracking_Devices&hash=item3f1a5d9906

There is one shop supplying spy equipment for private investigator selling it somewhere in Bukit Batok too, but can't remember the address.

I only remember how to go there. Go search online, you will probably find it.

Yap, I still have the unit today, but mine set is so old and so full of scratches you can't see the logo anymore, so I copied the link from eBay.

For my set, I hid it under my seat when I went to KL with my GSXR some years back. You can hide it somewhere even more inconspicuous if you want. eg: inside the airbox.

There is a setting for "Stockade" which will SMS your HP if it is moved more than 10m from the parked location.

I used it as a silent alarm when I was there.

If the bike is up the lorry (touch wood) there is a command to instruct it to repeatedly SMS it's location every 30 secs until the card runs out of money or the battery dies.

Battery for the GPS Tracker was just a bit more than 2 days, even though the manual says 80hrs. But the set includes a spare battery so not to worry. I didn't use the spare batt, because I installed a ciggy charger under the seat to charge it that time.

Haven't used it for about a year, but it was still working last year when I rode to Hatyai on my DR800 with 2 of my friends. But once pass into Thailand cannot get any SMS already.

get a Abloy Pl362and pair it with Almax Immobiliser 19mm chain to secure it to something solid which is pretty much impossible to cut without getting some attention. pair it with what others mention like alarm, gps tracker, a few xena disc locks, bike cover, parking at crowded place etc.

i think that will pretty much deter most people from taking your bike. people like to say a determine thief will still be able to get your bike but how to define the level of "determine". unless the bike is so one of the kind and they can make a killing out of it, isn't it easier to move to the next target??? i will do that if i am a thief. those hydraulic cutter or grinder use by fire fighter is either too noisy to use or hard for the common folk to get. someone please buy one of the hydraulic cutter for us to see:faint:

the issue is do you really want to make those that of commitment just to shop in jb?

Got mine at $99.90. See above post.

Saw the eBay ones selling at only $51.45 you might as well buy online.

Everything looks the same, even the box, which is Dark Blue with a clear plastic window on the left.
