As per title, what bike can I get with maximum $2k? To be exact, is it possible to get these bikes with just $2k and at the same time having at least a COE 2yrs+ ? Anywhere I can start with? Of course condition of the bike matters. Preferably from a shop.

And any reviews on Meng Motors in Jalan Besar? My dad has been buying bikes from that shop for over 20 years. We went there to scout but there's not much used bike today.

Btw, how do i change my L plate status on my profile? Just passed heheh:cheeky:

The bikes: Yamaha X1-r, Kawasaki Krr 150, Honda XR125

Class 2b - 08 March 2013

Class 2a - 11 September 2014

I think you can't change it. It's automatic, based on your participation on the forum.

Krr with 2K is possible, but you should set aside some more cash for old sportbikes :D

$2k is not enough for ANY bike.

for a bike to cost only $2k, you can be prepared to fork out additional for repairs probably. but sometimes the occasional bikes we see ever so rarely, for eg: a suzuki bandit with 5months of COE left going for $500, might fit your bill, for 5 months. not to mention insurance? P-platers have it bad, with insurance coming close to $1k for sportier bikes.

looking at the above, the suggestions are reasonable. models like wave, rxk. its cheaper becos its really common. hence older bikes trade hands very very often. you want a >$2k value bike, you gotta pay for it.

Dont be a wet blanket la. $2K is enough if you dont be choosy.

My ex Colleague bought a X1 not X1R with 4 years coe for just $800 dollars. Dont be discouraged. Slowly find will get good deals. Dont hunt for popular bikes because the insurance will be very high when u just passed.

I would recommend a used YBR125. Got some going at 1300-1500 with 4-5 years COE. It is cheap, reliable and most importantly cheap to insure. Power wise wont lose to a kup kia. I got mine for $2500 including insurance when I bought from shop. But it is from shop. (carrot abit)

KRR 150 sure can find cheap. But insurance and maintenance is alot if you want budget budget.

RXK insurance also ex if I'm not wrong. My friend 29 year old paid 800 plus.

Better find 4 strokes cheap bikes. You cant go wrong with the major Japanese brands la. Wave not bad too. I dont understand why you dont want wave but want X1R. Both are Kups. Abit less power only. Can slowly mod until more fierce than X1r.

Just a simple search will find you many 2b bikes selling below 1000k with a few years COE. Just dont be too choosy. Just the outlook nia, go JB very easy can mod till the look you want.

i stick with phantom. cheap, easy to ride and maintain, cheap insurance and got enough power for P platers.

ride 1 year, upgrade and then get something better. then upgrade again. if you like.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

hahaha ok la, it was in response to his picky-ness. since he doesnt want the commonly available bikes, he already has ruled out that which he can afford.

Take my advise, go for new bike...2k is enough for downpayment.

U can work out how much u willing to fork out for the mthly installments.

Nowadays 2nd hand bikes are ridiculous overpriced...lots of these sellers thought they selling GOLD !!!

With unforeseen repair costs...u will be cursing yrself at the end of the day for buying that piece of junk.

Not that bad la.. You see hor. 2k you can get good condition with +-4 years coe. Your new bike cost smelly smelly got 7-8k otr. I buy one $800 kup. + full overhaul for 600, + renew coe + misc repairs also not close to 4k. And you already save 3-4k. Why buy new bike and have to commit for another 2 years? later no money buy class 2a/2...
