Hi, anyone have any experienced any issues with sending their 696s (with the small sticker numberplate on the flyscreen) for inspection so far? Due soon, not sure if it will be a prob .. thanks!

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in getting a Ducati monster some day. I have tons of questions but I suspect you'd prefer it if I looked for the answers in the previous pages first before asking about the basics (price, FC etc..)

Started lurking around this topic not long ago, so I'm not even close to reading all the pages yet.

I have a few questions though just to help me make a sound decision:

- Any of you uses their duke to tour? I'm looking at WE rides to Malaysia mainly, nothing too long, max 3-4 days.

- Would you say Ducati are more prone to be stolen then other bikes or is it that because the parts are a bit unique and hard to reuse on other bikes, it's pretty safe to own one in SG ?

- How does the bike do in heavy traffic (basically peak hours commuting in the city or jammed express ways), if you use it daily and passion/emotional argument aside, would you say the bike is fit for this sort of use, especially in SG ?

I ride a Pulsar 200cc. Such a great bike for so many reasons. Owning and riding a Ducati is the reason why I wanted to learn how to ride. I just passed my class 2A but I'm not in a hurry to upgrade at all. I believe one should only ride a bike they can handle and I suspect that it might be a bit early with just 1 year of riding under my belt to get something more powerful. (and I'm not looking for power, it's SG it's absolutely useless).

Love my Pulsar and it's performing like a champion for the use I have for it, so like I said the duke is more a dream and heart beat setter for me :)

Seeing how expensive dukes are here (seriously, it's robbery), I'm not about to get one just because I want to and realise after a few months that it's not really fitted for riding in SG daily.

If you have a few minutes to share your feedback and give me advice I'm all ears and would really appreciate it :) Meanwhile, I'ma go back to reading page 1 of this thread..

if u r refering to the sticker numberplate then yes u will not pass ur inspection. u are required to have a proper license plate. anything that is stock and abides by the LTA requirements will pass inspection.

u may also refer to http://www.onemotoring.com.sg for LTA requirements.

When I had 2A years ago I went touring alone on the M400. Brought a brake disc lock along for safety, lock handle bars and clamp the rear wheel when I ate at coffee shops. Bike theft same risk for all bikes, no such thing as safe. Not much overnighters, just day trip with tank bag. For 3-4 days, you should consider backpack or preferable side soft panniers.

In SG will lose to super 4 on power, maybe acceleration and fuel economy as well as maint $. But buy something special must pay right? The sound and road presence will win hands down, sometimes it is worth the $$$, sometimes not. Depends on the rider.

Older monsters have fixed clutch slave cylinder in the crank case. May be heavier than 2001-2006 M400s, which have a replaceable clutch slave and generally lighter action. For city heavy traffic is ideal. As long as you dont use wide bars. Heat is less than Super4

When it comes to bikes, I only see red…

try Ducati first; never own Duke b4. : )

Thinking of getting my bike serviced this Friday.

The usual regular stuff like oil , oil filter, air filter, sparks , tighten chain etc...

I would prefer to wait as they fix my bike as it shouldnt take longer than 2 hours.

Any recommendations where to go? I really dont want to leave bike overnight (becos i want to ride it on Friday).

Pay more no problem if good and quick job

thanks
