This is what user manual says about red (code re-registering) key

CAUTION:

DO NOT LOSE THE CODE RE-REGISTERING KEY! CONTACT YOUR DEALER IMMEDIATELY IF IT IS LOST! If the code re-registering key is lost, registering new codes in the standard keys is impossible. The standard keys can still be used to start the vehicle, however if code re-registering is required (i.e., if a new standard key is made or all keys are lost) the entire immobilizer system must be replaced. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use either standard key and keep the code re-registering key in a safe place.

red? a red key? i got both black from bike shop...and now, one is hiding somewhere....:faint:

and for how much does HLmilk duplicate the key?

Yes, the rest of them are right, you will need to have the RED Master Key in order for HL to "clone" one more Spare key for you.

And also, most likely your bike shop will have the RED Master Key and they will only pass it to you after you finish all your instalments. You may wish to check with you bike shop.

If I remember correctly, the "uncut" black key has to be purchased from the spare-parts shop just beside the HL Workshop. Think it costs around SGD 29 or SGD 30 BEFORE GST. But that was the price I paid for one black "uncut" key about 3 years back. Not sure if the price of the key has increased.

Then you will have to go a key-duplicating shop to have the "uncut" key cut according to the "teeths" of your key. Then bring it back to HL to allow the mechanic to "clone" it for you. And I think there is such a "key duplicating" shop near by, near HL... Don't be like me. I buy the "uncut" key, rode all the way back to my place at Queenstown, have the key cut and rode all the way back to HL the following week-end to have it "cloned" by the mechanic. Then my friend told me, there is a shop near to HL, somewhere opposite to the Traffic Police HQ.

A few simple steps of inserting the RED Master, switch on your bike, then turn it off, then insert the black spare key, then turn it off, will cost you SGD10. Not sure about the exact squence of steps and not sure if the price of the "labour" for cloning has increased or not.

Also, I think the mechanic did told me that the maximum no. of extra spare keys the "ECU" can register is, I think 3, if I am remember correctly.

Meaning to say, with a RED Master key, you can only "clone" more 3 spare black keys. If you lose all the black keys, the ECU cannot "cloned" anymore.

Experienced FJRians, please correct me if I am wrong.

If I remember correctly, think some "old birds" here have posted the squence of inserting key, turning on and turning off, etc... here before some time back...

If you really really really really have the time, you may wish to surf a "few" postings back... :)

Btw liquid is leaking near my exhaust header. Non greasy and non soupy feel. Odorless also. When the engine get hot, these liquids will evaporate into smoke away quickly.

The sympton also kicked in when i don ride my bike for days.

any views? i read that it could be condensation between the hot engine and cooler temperature when the bike stopped running.

Wow, that's an awesome streak..... Did you trace the start of the streak? Condensation sounds improbable to me but I don't ride an 06' so I may be wrong....

Biting on the fray of my hair, I muse upon the way to find the oasis of evermore beyond the vertical horizon, I shall join the windupdeads in owl city, neither my safetysuit nor my red jumpsuit apparatus can save me, cuz I mistook a death cab for cutie in plain white T's...

I went to see a movie with the wife on Valentine's Day at Vivo City. When I came down I saw my FJR found a special friend, a gorgeous red FJR, while I was away :cheeky:

Whose ever ride that is, it's a nice one! (Mine could use a wash...)

i would think it's the coolant, since u said "When the engine get hot, these liquids will evaporate into smoke away quickly." i seriously think it cannot be condensation.

Yep, it should be coolant from either the radiator or the tubes (inside)

very likely should be your radiator or coolant leaking.

Yeah, it's $1 for the first 3 hours, then another $1 for each additional 1 hour or portion thereof. Used to be $1/hr!
