Yeah i understand what you mean.... just ytd i was riding along macpherson road in the afternoon.... one car just swerve out without looking and i was right beside it...

wa ni na beh... give a short horn and gesture the chopstick fingers towards my eyes... "are u blind??". And saw him raise his hand to apologise....

Wa give me the shock of my life in a very long time.... i rode on slowly at 40km/h just to recover my wits for about a minute or two... Old already... cannot take too much excitement on the road...

On the way to work this morning... was on the centre lane along Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 when a car decided to switch lane into mine by changing lane the same time the signal light came on. Meaningless... signal and change lane at the same time... how to react?

Had to brake real hard to avoid hitting the rear of the car and swerved to the outer lane. As I overtook and gave the driver a long hard look... it was a woman.

Next thing along SLE... car in the middle lane, weaving in the lane like a drunkard driver at the wheel... over took by the right and looked at the driver...another woman..... fidgeting with a handphone while driving.

Pointed at her and shook my finger at her.... and of course she gave me the "What the F is your problem look". Haiz.

Not that I have anything against women drivers... but these 2 just happen to be of the fairer sex. o_O:(

i had a bad experience today by a lady driver too. i was riding along delta road and traffic was kind of heavy when a red honda fit suddenly changed lane into the lane i was riding and at the same time the signal light came on. once she did that i knew she is gonna do something out of the blue again so i decided to change lane and avoid her.

true enough, at jalan bukit merah when we were approaching the entrance to AYE(Tuas) she suddenly jammed brake cuz she was in the wrong lane and the car behind her almost hit her car. and after that she changed lane even without signalling so that she can enter the expressway.

today first thing in the morning, just as i wanted to exit from my house carpark.

suddenly instinct told me to stop before turning out of the carpark, even though from the corner of my eye i can see that the traffic light junction in front of this primary school is red.

why i said that instincts told me to stop before turning out? a nyonya (not so old lah, but old enough to be my mother), driving a van, beat the red light. WTH? luckily there was no schoolkids crossing the road. even the security fella stationed at the traffic light could do nothing but just stare in "awe".

even though that nyonya driving quite slow, beat red light means beat red light and if instincts didn't tell me to stop, i sure kena kiss already. >.

and one more thing, aiyaa ! everytime i wear tinted visor surely got TP around. luckily peak hour, managed to escape! hehe

dear STALKER on SGBikes.com ,

YOU CAN SUCK MY MIDDLE FINGER DEEP DEEP !

regards,

yours truly.

well... statistics don lie do they?

not being against lady drivers, i don care whether they are men, trans, gay or lesbian, as long whoever is behind the wheel, doing some stupid, inconsiderate and reckless actions, i will not give them face. whoever put my life at risk, expect some form of retaliation from me...

it is rather disturbing that so many people are driving while fiddling with their mobile phones even though this is illegal. i suppose people will continue to do so until there is a heightened awareness of the problem.

i know that a number of riders in this forum record their rides. i'd like to request that you send me videos of people using mobile phones while driving. car plates etc not required. just want to raise awareness that this is on the rise and the dangers are too high to ignore.

i will compile them and then we can see what is the best way to raise awareness once we have a good number.

make sense?

this is an good idea to ponder over with...

however most of the riders recording their rides are using fixed mounting camera right? i.e: only record what is infront or behind.

to be able to record errant drivers using their mobile phone while driving probably require a helmet-mounted camera that records whatever and wherever the rider is facing.

or, anyone know where one can get fibre optic cables and lens kit. use adapter to attach to video cam then to a lens mounted , say, on the helmet by the chin area.

i know some skydivers use that. put video cam inside the jumpsuit, then fibre optic cable to a lens mounted on helmet.

not high quality stuff, but saves the trouble of having to buy a specific helmet mounted cam, which has to be removed if you lock your helmet to the bike. or creates an awkward protuberance if you carry it around.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

helmet cam, fixed cam on front, fixed cam on back, handphone cam while walking...whichever method is also fine. as long as got date, time and location is good enough. the idea is to raise awareness of the increase of such incidents. with limited resources, we have to help the authorities prioritize :p

if you do get the info/data of those errant drivers, might wanna drop a message to endlessloop over at the streetsmart thread. think he has links with ppl from the TP dpt. believe he works together with them in an effort to promote safe riding.

sweatz man, after that incident, i took a few minutes to regain composure as well... :faint:

make sense, except our videos not that clear cant really see them clearly in action.

i tot of compiling near misses, stupid errors, outright "bohuiness" of drivers as well, but still a tot, i believe if all of us riders taking videos combine force, we'll have a more convincing perspective.

the intention is good. i believe us riders will stick together and "make it happen". just a matter of time.

blur is ok because it is not meant for prosecution, rather it is meant for raising awareness in the hope that education and enforcement will improve. one step at a time and i'm sure we can get there.

few days back while riding..

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqJ9IVA5mu0[/yt]

Was thinking about stuff and did not see that the vehicles in front of me had already stopped.

Realised late, braked hard, skidded, counter-skidded. Heavy rear load did not helped.

Luckily I missed crashing into the nearest vehicle by about 10cm..

I do not think that any of the drivers noticed at all.

sometimes i'm also against lady drivers although i am one myself. ever met a lady driver driving a BMW cutting into my lane w/o signalling. overtook her and saw her using her handphone (i believe she was sms-ing) with both her wrists supporting the steering wheel.

While riding home yesterday,

Pickup speed when the traffic light turn green and at the right lane, so i speed up somemore to over take the car in the middle lane and travel 1 to 2 km before i check and move to left to get prepare to turn in to the car park 1 km away. There is "Ah ma" pushing a trolley suddlenly dush a cross the road, half way through (think she didn't hold the handle properely or what) the trolley shoot out in front of me. Wa-le-ma..... EEEeeeeeee brake, engine brake hard hard... from 5 gear straight drop to 2 gear. Luckly, brake fast enough as i'm not going very fast. The empty can drink in the basket drop all over the road, "ah-ma" bending down to pickup the can at the middle of the lane.... "faint" there car coming, quickly put side stand and pull "ah-ma" away to the road side. She say wanna to take empty can drink, think she sell that for some packet money, so ask "ah-ma" to stay at side and help her to pick them up when the roads clear. Guess what come up just when i finish picking up the can? A "kup" moving so close to my bike (with haz.. light on) touches my bike and my bike fell. What-the-fish.... he quickly acc... off, while i put "Ah-ma" trolley on the walk path. Errrrr...... check on my bike nothing wrong, just fall down, some lining design on the fairing due to the fall, oh well ... turn to my carpark and go home.
