today while riding home from work. went via ECP, KPE, PIE & BKE. traffic was quite smooth during the peak hour period until i reached PIE near Thomson. cars were starting to slow down b4 the flyover and had to lane-split.

while lane-splitting on lane 1.5, this Gilera runner was going quite slow, probably around 40km/h. at first i thought the rider was going slow because of wet roads. so i just stayed within the lane following behind 3 bikes (runner, phantom, spark and then me).

the runner was still around at the same speed until we were approaching BKE. i decided to lane change to lane 2.5 and i saw the runner rider change to lane 2 and suddenly swerve back to lane 1.5 for no apparent reason.

on BKE after the bend, runner rider was on lane 1 and suddenly close throttle and brake but road infront was clear. when i went past him, i saw his phone stuck in between the helmet and his ear and talking loudly. :nono: :nono:

HAHAA, his helmet size L ah, I cant seem to fit anything when I wear my helmet, not even sunglasses :(

Today,

on my way back from work at about 6.30pm, as usual, heavy rain.

Looking forward for the weekend..

Unfortunately not for a rider :(

At CTE near Upp Serangoon exit, a white car slammed on to a bike just behind me.

I could hear the slamming of metals just behind me even with my full face.

i was so shocked that i could just swallow my saliva. Hoping that accident was not fatal.

When i got back my senses, i wanted to stop but it was really too late. There is already a car behind me.

All i could do is just to pray for the rider. with or without pillion i am not too sure.

:(

Just sharing guys.

I guess i am just very lucky but not for the rider :(

Not pointing fingers at anyone but i guess we should always be very careful.

Maybe blame it on fatigue...

If it doesnt happens to us it can happen to anyone we know..

today while driving, i witness my first accident live.

young malay lady riding kup skidded when turning. i passed by her and saw her sprawled on the ground. when i drove past, the way she looked at me was very very unsettling.

my head for a moment told me to ignore and drive on. this is none of my business.

good thing i didn't give in, and instinct told me to u turn back. used my car to block traffic and pushed her bike to side. another guy was attending to her already. ambulance came, took her and i left.

hope she recovers well.

she only skidded but her road rash was pretty serious. i am sure had she been wearing a mesh jacket and gloves, the injuries would have been minor.

..along Balestier Road, was lane splitting to get to the front of vehicles at the traffic junction when I made a mistake of attempting to squeeze in between a lorry (lane 1) and a mitsubishi lancer (lane 2). Both were stationary, the lorry was taking up nearly the entire lane and the car stopped close to the lane divider. I thought I could ride in between as there were enough clearance. However, I went too slow and by the time i was halfway in between them, the lights turn green and the lorry started to move. I had to stop as I was afraid I'd wobble and hit the lorry. It was then when I stopped and placed my left foot down, I felt a heavy thing went over my foot. I realised the rear wheel of the mitsubishi lancer went over my left foot! :(

Lesson #1 learnt: Never squeeze between lorry and vehicle @ a traffic junction.

Lesson #2 learnt: Never place the foot too far out till the it is able to be ran over by the wheels of a car.

on thursday, whilst riding home, at about 5.30pm going to 6pm, on west coast highway, I REALLY WANTED TO CRY ! i really couldnt see what's ahead for the next 20meters or so, and i couldn't go fast. and because of that i had to remain on the left most lane, which wasn't really a good idea because alot of water puddles there. and wobbled2 abit. thank goodness,i reached home safe and sound !

on friday, 5pm++ going to 6pm, riding on ECP towards changi, somewhere before the Xilin ave exit, i thought i saw an apek on the road shoulder! i glanced at him twice to ensure that i wasn't dreaming, but later the guy on the pulsar thinks that i wanna play with him. i read before recently got nyonya on ECP central divider there, then now, got lonely apek on the road shoulder ... hmmm , wonder what's happening ........

then at night, 8+, on PIE towards tuas... wahkao, after bedok already jam until cars mostly not moving... information boards say, heavy traffic till BKE... if the traffic all the way heavy until BKE, i think take public transport will be faster. ahah..

anyway, i saw kalyan's video. wah, siao lah you. and seein the way you ride, you better not be the phantom fella who squeezed in between me and a car when i was lanesplitting !!! but nahh. i don't think it's you at all. (=

Hmmm, have had cars run over my foot twice now. Always in the same scenario mentioned by rvnrooron. Very confined space between cars, but just 1 car short of safety at the front of the queue. Just pedal along trying to avoid the mirrors, then the car moves off and runs over foot.

Isn't all that bad actually, like very heavy pressure. As though some really fat friend stood on your foot, although you may wanna chuck such friends if they do it intentionally . No outright or delayed "ouch!" moments. More like after the fact "HUH?!" sensation. Then again, I wear puma riding boots, the low-cut, and I also rock-climb, so my feet see abuse in undersized shoes all the time. :D

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

anyw, "only skidded" can be VERY serious too, depending on what was around the rider at that moment, the speed, and lastly, the safety equipment.

actually, i don't think we can blame the drivers who run over our foot when we forced to stay stationary beside them, they can't really see where our feet are.

but if they are those who know you are there, and still block your way or makes a wide turn to go over your foot, let their windshield taste your fist.

Well, I was wearing my normal fila shoes, its quite thick, though not as thick as safety boots or leather shoes. But I always make it a point to never wear sandals or slippers when riding. And I'm glad I wasn't wearing them yesterday when kena ran over! :cheeky:

Oh noOoooo! How's your left foot now? It should be quite 'ouch'! :giddy:

Its not exactly painful, but just a little numb..am still able to wriggle all my toes, so most probably no fracture.. it was swollen yesterday, but less swelling today. :)

Ah yup2! A very heavy pressure, I was quite surprise actually after the whole incident as I thought surely my foot would be fractured. But lucikily it wasn't..

I agree, I don't blame the driver, I blame myself for trying to squeeze, furthermore at a snail's pace to clear my mirrors, but too late as the lights turned green and both vehicles started moving. :dozed:

no la, i dun mean stop in that sense.

either: b4 u mount bike, ald raining cats and dogs, den DUN ride?

or: while riding, start raining, try to stop somewhere safe with shelter.

if u really have to ride during thunderstorm/ heavy rain, perhaps a hazard light may be useful. particularly in some cases when the rain is so big u can only see grey in front, + night time = GG.

Its just that i beome numb to all those "dangers on the road" as described here in this thread.... but at the same time spider sense increase... and most of the time its right.

Needless to say, also alot of frequent use of "hand signals".... but not angry at all....

Just now around 11am on the way to ang mo kio along Lentor ave saw an accident involving 2 taxis and a van and another car. I think the impact was quite strong, one of the taxi was on the curb next to the mrt tracks and the other taxi in the drain of the center divider, the van and a car seems ok. :faint:

Then after lunch, big rain in AMK, isolated parts of the roads were slightly flooded, got this toyota picnic ahead of me on the next lane and another taxi infront of me...both same time splash waterfall onto me...was like blinded and underwater for 2 seconds! :faint:

Waterfall! LOL. I only kenna back splashes from car in front which rendered me blind for like half a second. But still scary nontheless.

Rain everyday ... how to keep visor clean from water while riding? I every once in a while wipe with hand loh ... but I know it's no good.
