today i saw the headlines of TNP after lunch and the headlines caught my attention "hit, flung and crushed by 2 bikes"

2 bikes/riders were hit by a car while stopping on the road shoulder under a flyover while waiting for the rain to stop.

i was totally disgusted by the way the report was written.

the piece of bullsh|t written in such a way it seems like there is no fault of the driver who hit them at all.

neither did it help to have a long passage of text with statistics pointing to the high casualty rate of bikers

failed journalism imho, only presenting a one view report.

Where's the link to complain about that piss poor excuse of a couch potato journalist?

He/she should be made to take a 2B license and ride rain and shine to/from work for 7 years during peak hours, before being allowed to write another article on motor vehicle related issues.

To possible lurking stompers:

Yep, I did just that, zero accident record. Start asking questions, and learn from us SBFers.

I find it very strange that statements made by the "civil defence" and "police" mention something called Hazard Lights, which are not standard issue equipment on bikes. Also, has anyone tried stopping the bike, dismounting and leaving the signals (or DIY hazards) on?

There'd be nothing stopping me (roleplaying hypothetical foreign thief) from jumping your CB400 and riding off because the ignition key is in the bike!

Why is there no mention at all of the car that went out of control? Is the writer advocating speeding in the rain and causing danger to others? I think yes, to focus on drama, publishing ill-research facts half-heartedly and paying no respect to the deceased, is an act of moronism, to coin a new term.

Well, not saying you are wrong... but the paper's aren't obliged to... They are just obliged to sell papers by any means possible.

And also not saying people jump on and steal your bike is not possible, But i'd rather open at least a left signal while stopped at the road shoulder to let people see me...

I was riding through the sh|t storm yesterday and visibility was really very poor.... and some road shoulders tend to be really small and close to traffic...

it is sad to hear that the rider was hit by a car when he was actually taking shelter. RIP to ganesh. he looks abit familiar though.

it's like writing an article abt Ming Yi's dog (if he has one) instead of the prosecuter deciding not to press on his 6 other (bigger) charges.

Jams are indisputable proof that coe fails, erp fails. The only way to reduce jams is dont import cars, reduce population. just like smoking, ban cigarettes, people how to smoke? The 2 things on the road causing the jam are people and vehicles right, remove them, not pretend to ask for money as excuse to reduce jams.

Another thing is road courtesy - if people insist on cutting queues at filter lanes, they are causing both themselves and everyone else in the back to jam thanks to their sudden lane changes.

So play shepherd on your bike demonstrating proper lane change and signaling maneuvers to diffuse the jam a bit :D

not forgetting some of the blursotong drivers are those FT (if they are even considered a talent, if any).

my student found out that i had a car license, and started to ask why i opt for a motobike instead of a car.

all i went was,

1 - car is many many times much expensive than my current bike.

2 - at peak hours, the bike will win hands down.

my student went "but what are the probabilities of an accident? what protects your body when you are riding your moto?"

yeah yeah. the same old same old "human protect metal, not metal protect human". when it's time to go, then it's time to go.

afterall, i believe most guys who are driving dont really have the guts to take the 2b license.

since these ppl knows that as riders, we are the ones protecting the metal, why don't they be more road courteous and be nicer to motocyclists, and not TAILGATE so closely. tsk~ these people ah, see 1.5 car space still wanna cut in, then the person behind me still tailgate.

some drivers more worst. see meimei ride bike already wana bully. next time must carry stone and standby throw at road bullies.

dear STALKER on SGBikes.com ,

YOU CAN SUCK MY MIDDLE FINGER DEEP DEEP !

regards,

yours truly.

Wei!! Den where to put mixed blooded ppl like me?! Dun be racist le. We are singaporeans after all. Malay ppl very loud when having a good time and usually when da good times roll, da noise nvr stop. Chinese ppl very loud when it comes to funerals, da songkah like dun wanna end with all da customary prayers dat goes on & on. So let's be gracious. When Malays wanna hv fun and scream and shout, we go with da flow and enjoy da occasion. When da Chinese suffer a loss of a loved one, we will mourn together. Fair enuf? Balanced out da noise level in ur heads??

lol! went down to geylang serai just now with gf. i'm chinese here but having fun at night bazaars got nothing to do with race ba.

anyway right at the head of the traffic lights are all the bikes that managed to squeeze between cars. the moment the lights turned green in our favour, all engines revved. it was actually quite exciting. even though i don't like loud pipes, the atmosphere and the feeling of being among all those bikes, i just couldn't help myself and started laughing while riding amongst them. i think my gf went .

i actually like malay night bazaars so much better than the chinese pasar malam. one thing is the crowd. chinese are more pushy and rude. most times just 5 minutes in a pasar malam and i already wanna curse and swear. but today just very high spirits. of course i also think the malay traditional performances nicer than our chinese ge tai. ge tai too noisy for me liao.

01/04/2010 == pass 2B TP (2nd try)

10/04/2010 - ? == Yamaha FZ150i
