Fellow riders, just a question to get what riders commonly practice while crossing a T junction.

Imagine a T junction and you're turning right, which means that normally we have to wait at the dotted lines for pedestrian until

a.) Pedestrians crossing is clear of pedestrians(more on this later)

b.)Of course, wait for the green arrow to light up.

So if there are pedestrians crossing the road into which you would be turning Right , we can turn right if we leave enough space between us and them right(maybe 2 metres or so)?

Or do you wait till every pedestrian clears off the road till you cross?

The reason im asking is because as i was slowly approaching the dotted lines for the pedestrians to cross while turning Right at a T junction today, there's this bugger who was trying to act tough(skinny guy though) and kept staring at me until i passed like 3 metres behind his back. BTW it wasn't a busy junction, it was just him crossing.

I don't want to appear presumptuous but i'm pretty sure that i left enough space between me and him.

What are your thoughts?

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

i usually cross them as they are crossing ONLY if there is no traffic in the opposite direction and there is space to turn right, meaning won't hit pedestrian.

else, i just wait till they cross finish or wait before the crossing line, but might hold up opposite traffic though.

Maybe I'm impatient I dunno, if pedestrian too slow, I'll just cut in front. If pedestrian confused, I'll probably just go ahead and not wait for him/her to make a choice.

If the mofo walk bloody leisurely in front of an entrance to those HDB estate, in the middle of the road, parallel to it, on a slope, I'll ride damn near them. Knn walk also fail.

yea that's what i did and the fella stared at me..if it wasn't me, i guessed other riders would have rode straight into him thinking like he's harder than helmets...

i will jus make sure i have enough space to cross behind them and never in front of them .. its jus a another the most 10sec more to wait...

I've seen accidents and close shaves happen on these junctions as many drivers/ riders just see the green light and turned right, w/o checking the pedestrians crossing at the other side of the T junction.

Just react accordingly. I usually just stay inside the turning right box and check that there are no pedestrians anywhere around the vicinity that I will cross before turning. Safe than sorry.

Also, don't be pressured by the fools behind to just dash across. Cant' wait for traffic, just stay at home.

I remembered last year, a joker on 2 wheels just see the green light in his favour, immediately turned w/o checking. Best part is that a TP in full uniform was crossing the road and the joker probably missed hitting the TP by a metre or so. Needless to say, the next thing I see is that the joker is waiting at the side of the road for the TP. ;)

Yeah la, if they damn far away, I'd just go in front. If they are like 2 car widths, I'd just wait. Some pedestrians jaywalk expecting vehicles to stop for them while they SMS or use their phones, listen to MP3 oblivious to everything though, all it takes is some unattentive driver to let tragedy happen.

usually i'll just wait for them to cross till it's a safe to turn. personally dislike vehicles turning right infront of me closely while i'm crossing as i've encountered 2 near misses.

1st incident:

a god damn driver beat the red light and almost hit me while i was crossing the road. the car just zoom past right infront of me while the green man is still on. scared the hell outta me at that moment

2nd incident:

another god damn driver couldnt wait for me and other pedestrians to cross finish and turn right infront of us super closely till we had to stop to give way. green man was still flashing with more than 10s left.

from your post, i assume you perceive him to be acting tough just because he stared at you? i think you are thinking too much already, he was just being cautious by looking out while crossing the road. i don't think that skinny guy is trying to act tough by staring at a biker doing a right turn

probably the pedestrian is being more cautious of the situation while crossing, however you deem that as being confused and prefer to go ahead without giving way.

btw, the part in bold is definitely not a nice thing to do

Well maybe you might be trying to be fair to him since you're only listening to my side of the story. But the fact is if i stared at you the way he stared at me i'm pretty sure you won't be saying that I'm being cautious...

@#$$%^&*!!! These couple of days, drivers are very impatient, or simply don't give a damn about bikes.

Can see me coming still slowly slowly slowy U-Turn out! As if by coming out slower helps.:faint:

If really want to come out quickly come out and get the hell away so that I have time to brake mah!

Then at ECP cars just filter out. Already go into left most lane not enough, die die must cut into middle lane too. Gave the 2 buggers a long long horn while swerving and zooming pass them by their right while still in the middle lane.

Just now also got 1 car turtle! No signal cut into my lane if I was not transporting my aftermarket exhaust pipe and afraid it will get dented, I sure stick to my guns and go knock on his window to wake him up.

Very dangerous you know there.... later you knock into one bike parked along there they will come to SBF and open a thread saying they are very disappointed with you.

you know sometimes i read all these stories... i can't help but wonder... when it comes to the crunch... and the offending driver or pedestrian really react in an adverse fashion to your provoking..... will you guys actually go and fight in the middle of the road?
