Hi,

If I feel that my bike sometimes seem to wobble on a flat straight road, how do I verify that it is a bearing problem myself?

Or the only way is to go workshop and let them check?

Thank you.

Hi,

Try to jack up your front wheel, then turn abit, try to shake the tyres left right... complete the round, if its shaky, most probably the bearing is gone...

1st page of our PK Thread and look at how messy it is. Thanks to some inconsiderate people who wants to get their answers fast. Can i ask all the old birds to only reply to newbie questions threads and leave all

other threads that are asking questions which seems noob to be left alone?

Here are some threads which can be asked in newbie question threads or even found in possible solutions to your phantom's problem, information in this thread may even apply for other makes of bikes.

Look at how messy it gets when people don't listen, open threads for 1 newbie questions one after another. i dont mean to give attitude problem to anyone nor am i against anyone. I only want to appeal to

those guys who keeps opening threads to ask their questions in Newbie thread.

Look at these redundant threads:

Almost everything in the newbie thread? then the PK section will be lifeless liao.. why not just leave the questions in the new thread to die naturally if the seniors dont feel like answering since the answers can be found by searching/already in another thread?

also, its very subjective what is considered a newbie question... in fact many questions should not even be in any thread since it can be found in the users manual...

Guys, how come my ride on the higher rpm is smoother now after i change Gasket (was torn).. previously, bike may jerk at high speed.. tot its just bad combustion.. but now after changing gasket, no such problem liao... what's the purpose of the gasket other than keeping the EO in?

Also got question on mixing petrol.. do different grades/brands have the same density? Will they mix or be in 2 layers on top of each other?

Actually the gasket does not exactly just keep EO in. It basically seals the contact points between metal surfaces ensuring nothing goes in and out between them. Much like the rubber seals around water bottle caps.

Your problem went away probably because your combustion gases were escaping through the worn gasket previously.

Different petrol brands or grades should have mostly the same density. Any difference should be neglible.

Probably can create a sub section called "Newbie"( like a folder ) and dump these threads into it. Its more scalable and neat than having one super long thread.

Can do it this way also... it is what has been going on anyways but the PK thread looks so messy and those more important threads keep getting pushed to 2nd page etc... We have a movie session thread dont we? Now where is it?

Of course, we keep preaching for newbies to use the search function and we should use it too. But think about this again, if everyone just put abit of effort into keeping this place abit more tidy, it will be a whole lot better for all of us...

also, its very subjective what is considered a newbie question... in fact many questions should not even be in any thread since it can be found in the users manual...

Yeah, and maybe they do not have the manual, cannot be bothered to read the manual and even when u give them links, they ask for you to send it to their emails... if they really need to ask, at least can do it at PK OFFICIAL NEWBIE QUESTIONS THREAD.... no?

lunloon, i dont mean it that way... i mean, maybe abit more work for mods... but majority of the work lies on the people who posts. If we post in the correct threads blah blah blah, there wont be much for mods to do right? Do correct me if i am wrong... :)

The current last post in the last thread of the 1st page is 4 weeks old... so if something is not on e 1st page, its likely not active or not drawing attention anyway...

The last post of the movie session thread is in Dec 2007, u want such threads to still be on page 1?

Okay, precisely it is not going to attract attention, people just open another thread asking the same questions which was answered before... if you just consolidate everything into newbie questions, the whole thread in PK will look more organised. I know some of the guys did search the forums for stuffs they wanted to know. I also understand if you have something really urgent you need to know and thus u opened a new thread. But there are just tons of those who dont bother to read but just open a thread to ask a single question which was answered before.

The movie thread was listed as an example. And why wouldnt i want such threads to be on the first page? So far, other than dam, Friday outing for petrol and makan, what do we have? Yes i can dig it out and try to organise again, but if i dun keep pushing it up, it will fall into the 3rd 4th page etc...

Posted

Yeah, get ur point but let's see if the old birds will "support" and ignore newbie questions in new threads. Think many of them r too nice to do that though..

sticky the movie thread? or create a sticky that have links to all event threads?

Liverpool revival has started....

Posted

Hmmm yeah... think you have some nice ideas too :p dun think they will... cos YES!! they are too nice... ... anyways, at least also must go into the newly opened thread to tell the person to post in newbie thread and since replied, i think the old birds will give solutions too... not that i wanna be evil or wad... but sometimes its really annoying ... sometimes....

hi, im really troubled with the exhaust header for ta200. It was rusty to begin with. When i used a steel wool, it gets rusty even faster. Heard that with a hole, the whole header would have to be replaced! Is it possible to get it wrapped? where and how much? will it look nice? thanks. or any tips to keep it in its shiny condition. thanks

Does yours already have a hole? You cant just 'wrap' it to settle the problem. If youre not keen in getting a new set, go and get the hole welded.

Simple thing about using abrasives to remove rust is for you not to use them too aggressively. If there are no holes but you still want to wrap, you can get exhaust wraps from worldwide online stores or local Harley customizing shops. Dont question how nice some things are, it's subjective.

Your header is rusty. You want it to shine? Remove the rust using rust-removing products first. Then shine on with crhome/steel polish. Or rechrome the thing.

I have the best signature.

Once rust starts, there is almost no way to remove it permanently. It will just keep on coming back. Abrasives will help 'clean' off the rust, but just makes things worse in the long run.

IMHO, if it bothers you so much, the easiest & most effortless way is to change a new exhaust & take good care of it to make sure the rusting never starts. If you buy a used bike with a rusty exhaust, it will be a lot of work just to keep it looking decent. That's reality.

rust is going to be with us...old or new bikes...sooner or later you will have this problem..

for rust problems...pacify with rust cconverters and paint the surfaces.

those affected areas at the header use high temp paint..yeah paint a length of your exhaust pipe..say till the rusted areas end..

holes..welding can repair holes..provided it is small...large holes is possible but alot of work if u want to repair to original condition.

another method is pacify with rust converters and use steel epoxy..engineering grade can withstand high temp and pressure..

imho

To update, I went for servicing at Planet today and one of the guys there pointed out that my front tyre was worn out, 'bloating' unevenly in some places. So most likely this was causing the wobbling....
