well I took the lesson at BBDC and failed 5.1 twice and 8.1 FIVE times... but then TP test 1 time pass. comparatively, i paid more money but save more time. and also thanks to the 5 time failure in 8.1, i met my current GF on my last SP.~~~

haha.. 8.01 u 5times ah .. haha.. same as mi .. today juz passed oni .. juz nice 18pts sia... so happi .. but TP haf to wait until june 26

Pract 5 nitemare for me (5 times)..Almost gave up..Did give up for about 2mths..How to get 10 points and below? Really hard..Even TP oso not like that..But after perservering finally get my lic..An advice would be to just follow what the instructors ask you to do..Tho some people mingle with them (yes it actually works)..And must relax..Face don't so gan chiong and don't wobble here wobble there can already..

For 2B, I found narrow plank, wobbling (when moving off) and u-turn difficult, in this order.

For 2A, the plank is a piece of cake because the bike is so heavy and just goes straight even when the bike was very slow. No corrections are needed.

Difficult ones are emergency brake (surprisingly) and bumpy course. The bumpy course is still doable with wrong techniques. But I foresee problem with class 2, cos the timing is 10 seconds. Must really half-clutch, throttle, press clutch, brake and repeat.

Hmmm... I am taking at SSDC, now at Pract 6. So far I think its Pract 2 (Figure 8 and Crank Course).

Pract 1 - 3 times (Wobble when moving off and stopping)

Pract 2 - 4 times (Figure 8 too slow, wobble too much when moving off)

Pract 3 - 2 times (Actually 1st time should pass. Instructor only say come and practice more never say what is wrong loh... TMD...)

Pract 4 - 1 time each for Part 1 & 2 (After practicing so hard at Pract 2, Pract 4 was a breeze)

Pract 5 - 1 time (Yahoo! Revision helps!)

Pract 6 - 2 times (Blur at the traffic light...disobey traffic rules.)

Pract 7 - 3 times (Lane change like Suicide squad, did not bring gear down when speed low)

Pract 8 - 1 time (Confirmed. Revision helps!)

In addition to the other tips on Figure 8, instructor says to hold firmly on the left handle when bending left on the figure 8 and hold firmly on the right handle when bending right. It works VERY WELL for me!

Lock your elbows/straighten arm when stopping..

Eyes to be looking forward..Not down not side..

Close throttle when you touch the line then press brake (front and rear) when the bike stop quickly press the clutch so engine won't stall..

Wow hope this thread is not too old for me to post.. :thumb:

In fact i am a newbie, just started prac 1 not long back, already went 4 times..

1st time: surrendered thanks to the scorching June sun.

2nd time: some instructor who juz didn't care abt me, just the new orientation mates.

3rd time: BEST! the time where i learnt most, cos all others went for big circuit, me still at small circuit.. he taught me many things.. 1 point of time, i didn't catch how he change the gear..

he picked up his helmet and juz said 'Get on!' and he became the rider.. LOL

from there realli learn a lot.

4th time: today lor.. not bad la, also got individual nice malay instructor.. he is still rather helpful and jovial, dat's realli learning and teaching spirit..

I'm kinda worried as i stuck for quite some time.. but i know i weren't a 'zai' bicycle rider, so i won't ask for much too (well, i can't even balance a bicycle single-handedly.)

Any advice for a newbie like me? Every lesson i went gives me memorable experiences (including 1 new blueblack on my legs) :sian:

welcome...hope you can join the riding gang soon...

just do your best...everyone has a different learning curve...

some passed all the lessons on the 1st try...but when they came to TP...they needed more than once..

some took a slow & steady pace...and passed their TP on the 1st attempt...

the most important thing is not how fast you can get your license...but how well you have learnt the lessons & how you ride when you get your license.

always remember....ride safely..

as i always say...a driver crashing at 50kmh is near 100% to walk away from the crash unscathed...

a rider at 50kmh? only 50%....

Dear PinKcHicK,

I'm so glad I've found a fellow new rider like me. What a consolation...

I've also just started biking lessons at BBDC. Went for 3 lessons so far.. 4th one this Sat. Acquired alot of bruises, pains and blue-blacks due to the countless no. of falls. Still stuck at lesson 1.02 (going round the inner circuit, braking smoothly & changing up gear) . Instructors say I've still a long way to go to clear it.

Always stop the bike suddenly, lose balance and then fall off sobs..sobs. embarassing sia... haiz

But not giving up yet.. Gonna fight for my class 2B license whether it takes 1 yr or more. (just like i fought for my class 3C ;) )

And good luck to you too, PinKcHicK! :goodluck: Which driving centre u learning from, btw?

A BIG Thanks to archenemy for the wonderful advice. That's really encoruraging :)

All hail newbie riders! :thumb:

No need take bike licence la..U be my pillion..Anywhere you wanna go I pillion you..But must safety..Hand must be around my waist and must sit very close..Ehehe..:cheeky:

A little help for you is to visualize you are riding a bike before hand..Remember what to do (the steps)..How to change gear and stuff..If want to stop press brake first when the bike very slow (almost standstill) quickly press the clutch..If dropping gear to stop..Best to use engine braking..Make sure go to 1st gear and clutch in already..Then apply both brakes..Work all this in your mind before going to every practical/everyday..Soon it will be part of you..Your subconscious mind will do all these..

But if you want me to pillion you also can..Ehehe..

1. off throttle

2. front brake

3. clutch in

4. step down gear to 1.

5. rear brake

circle right! haha finally easier to remember, first brake after tis logic i did correctly liao hehehe..

Hey.. fantastic tip about the visualising of riding a bike before hand... I agree with it too.

Thanks compfused. Definitely gonna try that for my next lesson... which is braking smoothly at 1st gear

Geez, tell me about 2A...The powerful brakes always lock during e-brake. The darn bumpy course is ... well, I once turned it into a speed-bump corner and not a 10-revs-per-bump obstacle...

(To the rest of the newbies...hope I'm not going too off-topic :thumb:, in fact, thank goodness you guys are doing the circuit on a 125cc )

Just want to share that I agree with compfused on the visualising technique. I personally tried that for my class 3 and also for my class 2B currently. Cos when I was new to the bike, I dunno what to do and get gan cheong. So, on my way to SSDC, I would think through the steps...During lesson it would come more naturally and as a result i can focus on balancing myself etc instead of thinking of wat to do first.

I would also run through the circuit route or test route in my mind, recalling all the check back, blind spot checking, points to remember when clearing obstacles. Good for the purpose of passing test. However, of course we can never predict traffic in life... so...

For on the road practical, must try to anticipate traffic changes. Look ahead to check traffic situation, see if got other road users... hate them the most... might spoilt everything for u by dashing across the road... and ride safely! Yeah! (We all know these... but must practice this conscientiously loh...)

My fren has the fear of falling when turning... so she always fall... (cos look at the floor or cones too much) Listen and believe the instructors... look ahead and far... looking down will really make you fall. Keep ur legs close, hug the bike, gan gan lai... dun be scared. Wont fall one... think fall and u fall. think steady and steady u are. Jia you jia you! Go Go Go!

Cheers!
