New bike odometer shows 20km when collecting brand new bike!

Is it normal that the bike odometer shows 20km when U first collect the bike?

It is reasonable if it is maybe less than 5km, but 20km is way too much.

Am I able to reject the bike and demand for a one with less than 5km travelled?

Anyone has experienced this kinda situation?

thats way too much for a bike bro...

if its a new car that is driven from ship to shop thats resonable, but bike comes normally on the truck.

test ride the bike? what for? the bikeshop staff are NOT ALLOWED to ride the bike. when the bike is tested at the factory where it is authorised, the authorised technician will reset the odometer. note that i emphasize on "authorised", this refers to the manufacturer who test for quality control and officials who test for road homologation. the bike shop is considered the distributor, they buy from the manufacturer and they sell it. when they transport the vehicle, they are not allowed to ride it. even if they push it off the truck and wheel it into the shop, it will not be a 2km distance, it wouldn't even be more than 10m. i don't think that the short distance will even register on the odo since the battery is still plugged out, yes?

if my 1st hand bike's odometer or anything shows that my bike was ridden before i bought it, i will refuse that purchase. according to consumer law, as long as the product has not been passed into my possession, i have the right to refuse it on reasonable grounds. if the bike shop wants to play dirty and not refund me/ provide me with what i was promised in the sales, just approach the small claims tribunal and seek legal action.

I have so far owned 4 brand new bikes during my course of riding , n i have nvr come across mileage of more than 2km on the bike's odo . Its always 0 on the meter . N my last 2 new bikes were opened up from the crate in front of me so confirm its 0 mileage .

seem no one encounter before

20km on odo is not reasonable for a new unused bike... you should reject it and ask for a new one. no need to raise voice or anger. if they refuse, tell them you have the right to complain to bike's sole distributor (e.g. boon siew for Honda, Hong Leong for Yamaha, etc) and/or bring issue to CASE or newspaper. but if you don't really mind the 20km, can try ask for discount (very unlikely) or some goodies (e.g. top box & rack) in return or just forget the hassle and never go back there.

if you want a new one, DO NOT accept any suggestion to ride off then come back. once you ride off, motortiam can say you clocked that 20km. they may also tell all kinds of excuses so that they don't have to change for you. if all customers are careful enough, motortiam will be stuck with it, unless they give discount. guess nobody wants to pay brand new price for a used bike, even if its only 20km.

may all be well and happy

Haha. But still, like what bro enfant said above, even if paul senior test ride ur bike, he's considered the 'authorised technician' and will reset the meter once he's done. So it doesnt matter if paul senior test rode ur chopper or x1, odometer should still be zero, right?

Paul senior test ride each bike b4 delivery as they r all custom-made bikes. for production bikes (and cars), manufacturers do not test ride each bike as it will be too time-consuming and unnecessary but they may randomly pick a few for quality assurance purposes.

there may b exceptions, like Ferrari. Ferrari built a circuit right next to factory and they test drive each car frm production line... at top speed!
