on another matter, or rather "older" matter

have you guys ever thought of using the OEM handle bar clamps

stacked up - of course with longer screws - as bar risers?

there'll be that little hole there but is easily available & cheaper than imported bar risers

got the idea from a CB750 seller who's bike i took a look with a buddy of mine (not on the forum)

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=155093&d=1273328182

courtesy of thread - http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286791

pic not too clear but you can see that the bar clamp is 2 colours - silver and black

also Q for you guys, where is your ERP IU unit located?

presently mine is clamped on the left bar clamp,

is it possible to relocate to the original left mirror screw area

coz i'm afraid may have turning issue if i use the clamps to increase the handle bar height

cheers :)

& hw would you gona stack them up when there's the below portion(attaching to the 1st of the triple clamp)?

it does solve alot of money issues if the abv problem is solve.

cos hv to find someone to help measure & cut the dimension out to fit in.

did u ask the owner hw he did it?

my IU has been relocated to the clutch clamp there.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/4461757956_f306477bc0_b.jpg

(IU wrapped with a yellow ribbon on top)

using a CBR150 IU mount, with longer SS screws. No problem when turning the handlebar.

I did mount @ the mirror position there before. But,

1) may need to turn to an awkward angle to accomodate when handle bar turns.

2) hv to get & use another screw(same dimension as the faux screw), with some washers to tighten the mount(normal S4 IU mount).

So, either can use the idea im using nw, or, stick to the original place, handle bar riser there, which Im thinking of shifting it back there...

cool

that's what this is all about!

idea sharing so we don't make installations & then regret then waste more time & $$$ to reconfig :)

my buddy should take over the CB750 in about 1 week or so,

so will take more pics and then post some clearer pics

and maybe ask him for permission for me to take apart the clamp part to see how it's done and share it here :)

the original CB750 owner changed his CB750 bar with a verS bar so same dia as spec III i suppose - standard 7/8"

but from memory i think he just inversed the lower clamp and the upper clamp in the same upward position to get the "hole" for the bars to sit in

then used longer screws to secure back in place

['''''''''''''''''] }

[****** ] } - top of the bar clamp assembly

[,,~'''''~,,] }

[''~,,,,,~''] }

[ ******] } - original position of bar clamp reversed

[,,,,,,,,,,,,,] }

[''~,,,,,~''] } section on steering bar with mentioned "gap"

[ ______] }

if it makes any sense to you? (pardon the bad impromptu ascii drawing)

Hmm.. Interesting!

Means, using the top riser clamp, invert it, & viola!

Think can recce the scrapyards for cheap bargains!

But then, I think its only limited of heights, by just stacking of 1 set.

Because the inner gap should be filled for strength purposes, too much of the gaps & the handle bar may snap? No?

But anyway, great idea! :thumb:
