wouldn't the guys in "4 wheelers" thread help you more on this? I'd choose a Van over a car anytime ;) since you're not asking for performance nor looks, just a daily transport so why not save on petrol and use diesel? :thumb:

I dun think it is a matter of owning the car only. You have to factor in raising petrol costs and insurance costs and potentially more ERP gantries. And yep, parking costs too. My view, no $ no car. Dun like some of my fren fren, want to own car for show, go get opc getz and they live very far from work. dunno their point for getting an opc. Somemore choose 10yr loan. wats the pt. Just trying to get the cheapest of the lot is nt a solution. COE quota this year going to be low from the papers. This is goin to force demand for opc out as the rebate will be insignicant. People will rather go for bigger cars w/o opc. My bottomline is gt money then chut chia, no money dun chut opc to show off only unless ur opic in cbd with a lot of ERP. See so many opc on the roads .... haizzzz ... (no against ALL opc, just those no money but for show only ones)

Yes, I fully agreewith your view, though ur unparagraghed paragraph makes for eye-tearing reading. :)

They are reducing the road tax, but increasing the ERP and what have yous.

Factor in the usual petrol, the insurance, the wear and tear, and the cheapest car does not seem so cheap afterall.

I often wonder how many cars we see on the SG road are owned by people who actually can afford them. Take away the car allowance, and perhaps we will see 1/4 of the cars gone.

Seems like a recent phenomenon that every tom, **** or harry went out to buy a car and sign the 10 yr loan without much thinking. Of cos witht he 0 downpayment, everyone can buy 1.

But if you have to scrimp and save, basically live a life that you cant afford, then it's the car that own you, not you own it.
