Hi all, just got myself a bandit 400vv. Good bike for everyday riding at almost half the price of S4. Though its cheaper then S4, but I already spent few hundred bucks on fork seal. cone bearing, wheel bearing, oil change, chain & air filter. Still need to do up the coolant flush, brake bleeding, plugs, carb wash & tune plus some serious digging/cleaning of accumulated road grime and dried grease all over the bike. Though sounds like much thing to do but I really dun mind cos I jus love how it handle and also the sweet sound from the exhaust tone.

Would really like to get some pointers from u guys here regarding few items;

1. What are the normal hiccups/problems associated with these bike?

2. Where can I source for a centre stand for this bike? Manage to get a 2nd hand bandit p main stand but its doesn't fit

3. What are the aftermarket parts such as exhaust, accessories etc avail for this bike?

4. At what rpm does the high cam variable valve kick in and is there any tell tale sign when it does? I revved on 4th gear all the way up to 10k+ rpm but doesn't seem to notice much substantial difference in engine power.

5. How much km can a full tank go with constant riding between 90-100km/h.

Sorry for asking too many question for a newbie but u guys are the best source of info provider when it come to this bike. I would really appreciate any feedbacks from the guys/gals here. Cheers....

* would anyone be kind enough to borrow me the full service manual for this bike. Downloaded some from the net but its really too brief, it is more on how to check and carry out the valve clearance only. Thanks. :hungry: :bounce: :help:

Yup, guess u r one of those whom viewed d bike too. I actually swop my excellent condition rxz with many new parts for his bandit vv which is not in a condition which is as equivalent to mine. Most important, the engine is good, cosmetic appearance is secondary as I love to restore old bike from scratch back to its glamorous state.

It doesn't seems right to disclose the price here as I'm aware there are quite a number of keen buyer who back off from the deal due to various reason. But I did a fair amount of cash top up in the transaction. I can say its a win win deal where both party seems satisfied. A very good seller though.

Btw, u find ur bike yet? cheers.

Hi rAjOaNa, I'm looking forward to ur reply here actually. Really need some pointers from you on this bike especially due regard to the VVT cam kicking in at which rpm and how do we tell if it is really functioning or not. Where do you find the centre stand for this bike? I'm also looking for the bike manual before I start tinkering with it hahaha.

The one u saw in hougang last sun is not me cos i'm in jurong island the whole day till late evening. I'll post some pics of it when i'm done with some touch up on the appearance. Looking forward to ur reply, Thanks. Cheers....:cheer:

by the manual the VVT thingy kicks in at 6750 rpm. though the sound difference can be heard the power only can feel aft 7k+rpm. The centre stand came with my bike actually...so i guess u have to get it welded. Not sure but i heard it can cost 100+ or even 200+. The manual i have a softcopy of it in PDF format. u can pm me or leave yar email add i send it to u over the weekend when i book out.

Oh well, let' either do it on a Sat day and then return on Sunday or we can ride out on Fri nite, then returning on Sun morning.

Route wise, rajoana, u got it right. Highway's boring. I like trunk riding too. Will map it out and share with u guys.

WHat bike are u riding now boofeng? Never mind, as long as we all enjoy riding, the bike's just the accessory. Though I like to have a higher cc bike for the stability.

Check this thread out. I am creating a club of bikers for bikers. This is for intercultural intergration. Come on in, fellow bikers.

hmm. just something to think about:

i had a mainstand on my bandit (but it's a P model, so... sorry, no advice on the VV stuff for you ;p). i think because i'm heavy, and my rear shock's very old and really gone, i always ran out of ground clearance on the left side, coz of the mainstand. it's a bit of a problem when carrying pillion... sometimes scrape even at filter lanes. when solo it's better, but it's scraped before. so if u want to ride fast... maybe no mainstand is better?

of course the real solution is a good rear shock la... and maybe can jack up the rear a bit more to steer faster.

anyway i think a mainstand is useful if u do your own servicing but otherwise you don't really need one. at the shops, they got their own paddock stands.. so shouldn't be a problem. for chain oiling, i have used an automatic oiler before, from S750WP (who used to ride a bandit, and was active in this thread a lot), and it was very good.

re the trip stuff:

1. yeah man! trunks roads are teh best lah! :) so long as it's trunk roads i'll be happy to go along also.

2. but weekends only for me too, at the moment. advance notice will be good :)

3. i'm on a kawasaki concours now. most of the fairing's off though, so it's a big naked bike now. you can see why i don't like highways ;p heh.

i think sat aft mid nite onwards i m fine cos of exit permit issue else i be on for fri evening as well. if the rainy season is over i think i wanna try the east side trunk rds. SEems like they have lesser traffic n more bends.

hmmm...how does yar centre stand runs out of ground clearance? i thought the footpeg is suppose to be wider?

anyway my fazer also the rear shocks are more on the soft side still trying to adjust n play ard with the settings hope it helps. At the no $$ to invest in Ohlins or Penske....so have to bear with it till i ord n start working la. Unless there is a gd offer for 2nd hand ones.

one alternative if you dont have enough $$ means is to replace the rear shock spring.

Motorworld offers both front fork spring and rear spring upgrades at $450..
