Just want to share an amusing incident that happened to me yesterday. Was heading home from queenstown about 11pm last night. Was making a right turn at the huge junction just after Queenstown MRT to Farrer road. As i was making the right turn, i saw a black bike taking the left filter to the same road. When i completed the turn, this bike, a TZM was just in front of me.So i was riding normally and accelerated abit. Out of nowhere, the TZM rider, turned around, saw me, and went into a full MOTOGP crouch on his bike and accelerated like it was a race! OMG, the 2T smoke that came out from his exhaust was impressive! But sadly, what was NOT impressive was the acceleration of his bike.

 

I watched him twist his throttle so hard, yet the bike was so slow. Bear in mind, it was raining, not that heavy, but not that light. I thought what the hell, let's give him a show. I didnt even drop gear, just accelerated and caught up. As i passed him, i slowed down to pass him in a manner i can see him. OMG! He was still in his MOTOGP crouch, hiding behind his pathetic windscreen, if it offered protection from the rain. It was one of the rare days i wore a half face helmet. I turned to look at him and laugh at him. Sadly, he didnt see my huge grin. Because he was fully concentrating on the race. We were barely at 100.

 

Then he seemed to tug his body in tighter, and twist that ever useless throttle. I looked ahead, saw a underpass coming. A smile came to my face again. Yes, some dry ground. I just looked straight, and blasted past this funny rider. Goodbye Gracie. As soon as i exited the underpass i slowed down. Wet road ahead, i was like at 140.. After eons, the TZM passed me. Again in his full motogp crouch. I couldnt stop laughing. I just rode slowly. We both had to stop at the next traffic light. I filtered my way to the front and looked at him and gave a hug grin. Indian chap, skinny, looked like malaysian, but bike was SG plate. He gave a maniacal smile. Green light. MotoGP crouch, and launch for this crazy and slow TZM. I jus rode slowly. I did enough to show Aprilia won yesterday.

 

Please ride safely in the wet weather guys.

Basket I really hate these rain. My speedo is all crazy now.

 

Didn't notice at first until I was at the expressway and when I check my speed, it was at 185km/h! I tot WTF my fully stock aprilia can go fast? Then it went into matrix mode. Number keep scrambling! It even went up to 800km/h! Faster then a bugatti veyron! Signal lights and stuff r all working except for the speed.

 

Went to a bike shop nearby to check, they Juz say it's the magnet prob. Can't repair. And no bike shop will be open until after cny. Grrrrr

Sub Zero - Bro, maybe u mistook his motogp crouch as a challenge but maybe he was actually trying to shield himself from the rain? I do that alot coz i wear an open face helmet and when it rains, the water pelting on my neck area actually hurts alot. like teeny needle pricks. I also get mistaken for wanting to race because of this but i usually never play, coz i got a phobia of riding in the rain. heh.

 

Anw just a quick qn to anyone. Does anyone know if theres anyone using SP shocks? 2 things im wondering about this. does it have hi/lo speed comp adjustment. And is there any mech in sg which is familiar with this shocks so i can send it for servicing. Reason being theres one on ebay which looks fairly decent and going for ard 180 euros. Looks kind of a good buy provided its in good cond. Ive seen it used on some aprilia superteens bikes so it shouldnt be too bad right?

OMG. i was laughing while reading. but, in his heart he will think that he won a aprilia with his TZM, cause he's infront most of the time. not knowing tat we actually not doing very much to keep up with them.

 

Same thing happen to me before too. but its was a Kawa.

Bro urs is the new model rs rite? Is the speedo sensor thats screwing up. Happened to mine before but luckily warranty cover. So not sure hw much it costs. anw in the mean time u can use ur rpm to gauge ur speed ah. Anw, all bike shops closed alr ah? Didnt noe that. lol

didnt see the mech fix my bike. but its on the receipt he gave me. its listed as speedometer sensor or sth like that. if u say ur signals and lights and other stuff all working then dun think its the wiring ah. this shud be the problem.

Haha.. No way bro.. He went into his MOTOGP mode right after he turned back to see me coming behind his ass. In any case, why would anyone ride so aggressively in wet weather?

 

Regarding the shocks, I'd recommend you to go to Bikelab for servicing. I fixed my Ohlins there. Also, i'd recommend getting a brand new shock. The SP shocks are rather old, and unless you can get a new one, it's not so useful IMO. Even if you change the oils and seals, recharge the gas canister, how about the spring? It's still the same. If you still persist on changing the spring, might as well get a new shock. Hehe.

 

Seems like Wilbur is sooo good since they have support here, maybe you should get that.

I dont see any magnets, do you? I think it's the speedo sensor went haywire. located at your rear brake caliper mount. If your bike is under warranty, get it replaced at vegetable shop. Brand new is about 100plus I think.

No worries mate. He definitely knew I beat him.. I admire his courage though. Hahaha. Anyway, i 'won' because of a few helpful stuff on my bike. My bike quite weak actually. This must be a lousy TZM. They're fast bikes, u cant catch them at higher speeds. Hehe.

Okay I tried unplugging the back of the speedo and check the magnet at the rear disc break and everything seems fine. It was fine 2days ago, only went haywire after the 2days rain as I didn't ride ytd and didn't cover my bike. Hope it's not a major prob man.

Better to use cover always. At least after heavy downpours, u dun have to worry much abt water seeping into ur petrol tank. Futhermore, ur bike would be partially shielded from prying eyes. My speedo sensor got cut and nicked at my own carpark after having it replaced a few mths later. Dunno which motherf*cker stole it. Since then i put 2 layers of canvas as a safety precaution.

I got a strange problem yesterday. I was on the way to work, it was raining heavily.

My bike temperature was 98C on the move and topped at 102C when I reached office. However it was normal again during my travel back from work, temp was around 77-80C (cool wind and no rain).

This morning was also ok.

 

I never encounter this problem before. What do you guys think? Any idea what the cause might be?
