Yes, the original Rotax valve was sent to STS for metallurgical testing & evaluation to determine the metal type and content.

Cannot reveal how much but it's part of the cost factored into the end user price.

Is your RS

Regardless, the frequency of valve breaking on of both yours and d other bike may be of another reason.

The valve seat on the top block may have worn.

Hence, your valve seat in the block may be subjected to more vibration and extensive high rev-ing increases this vibrancy. Thus, the breaking.

Most pay lil attention to this because it's not so noticeable.

End result? u'll be changing the valve over n over.

To elaborate further, I'd rather share it over kopi sometime soon.

I'd hope for you it's just the valve, but if it breaks the 2nd time within the near future, you may wanna consider what I just said about the block.

That could be the cause too... That possibility never occurred to me though...

Ouch!

I just scheduled the bike for a top job amongs other tings around the same time as the race. I'll need to run-in.

Would still try to make it down to PG to soak up on the atmosphere.

How about going for the top job after the race?

The '07 models and later have restricted cdi, which will sometimes cause the rpm to be jammed around the 6k-6.5k region, if you rev up at a lower gear it will not jam around the region.

Are u sure the 07 facelift models have restricted cdi..? o_O

Anyway, many types of RS variants come out of the vege shop. Some say cdi bridged alrdy, some say haven't, some rpm meter till 12 and some till 14, etc.

If ur rpm jams up arnd the 6 to 6.5k region or even till 7k, then i believe it should be the tuning. I'm running on premix, and i don't experience any boggyness in any rpm range. SubZero can be my witness as he's the only one who tries my bike at certain times. Of course mine doesn't even come close to Mr Lacrimosae's bike tuning. :) My valve starts to get abit stuck only after 4 mths or so and i don't wash valve every single week. Waay back when i first took out my bike 3 years ago, valve always jams up, and my rpm always get stuck in between the ranges as abovementioned. No offence anyone. Just my 2 cents'. :thumb:

Please count me in because I am a strapping fit heterosexual male.

Of course, I am not insinuating that anyone who does not participate is either a girl, or is gay. I'm just saying.

What Lawrence actually wanted to say was...

Thanks Shaas. Yup i insisted on an original :p I remember changing the valve cable and one other thing i cant remember now, at the same time. Bill came up to about $350 then. Receipt is somewhere in my drawer must go find. I didnt end up removing the valve today, since its still functioning currently. But when i install the valve the next time round, i will remember to get the valve seat checked out, thanks!! :)

Btw Lawrence, thanks for the detailed post on the valves. Interesting read too! I didnt 'reply with quote' to that one cos i think it'll take up quite a lot space on the thread if i do that, haha

Most motorcycle problems are a result of the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle

It was mentioned, I stand corrected if anyone has any ground otherwise, hmmm, I'm switching to remix soon, I believe the idea is to premix at 1:50 before leaning it out, could someone explain the rationale?

I am in a way trying to allow everyone to "pimp" their baby without paying thru their noses..

all i need is an understanding within the Aprilia RS125 society...

this deals that Im giving out is only within the Aprilia RS group, its to OUR benefits..I really do hope we keep it to ourselves and not go some other shop n " hey U know this shop is only selling at $**** ... this will be against OUR benefit ..

as a bike accessories shop owner now,I try do what I can to contribute as i been slashed before and i dont think think everyone here would like to be slashed...

I hope we have an understanding here?

Well, 6 years ago, I paid $750 for my Arrow. Now for $580 one can get the same performance from an exhaust manufactured in the same factory with only a different brand. I can't help being a little jealous. Haha...

Lets meet on 21 Feb for dinner at Ho Chiak Yong Tau Foo!
