see post #8069... i just posted the shop there, alternatively can go autobacs.

most commonly used tyres for SW could probably be the pirelli diablo scoot (i've used 2 sets and should still be using them), between $170~$190 per pair with installation/front balancing (most shops do not have adapter to do rear balancing for SW). according to some SWingers who've tried the more expensive metzeler feel free (>$200), its slightly stickier than diablo but not as lasting. depends on what you want

thanks... safety is always of top priority

despite the availability of aftermarkets, many of us are using the stock setup, the honda 3-in-1 that costs reasonably around $210~$240. my personal recommendation is to save the $$ for stuffs like front fork springs, rear shocks, tyres, PA auto, loud horn, plugs, utility top box, etc. then think of the aftermarket variators/multivar if you really wanna have more power.

multivar? basically refers to the front variator assembly (includes the rollers & spring); maybe it is the short-form for multi-speed variator... just guessing :p

Today I went to ASphoon and ask them to help me clean the transmission, but they say not need to do cleaning as my bike still new.. KNN..

of course la bro. You have to understand from their point of view.

Their main job is to handle warranty repair issues or preparing new bikes for owners to collect.

If you wanna clean your transmission i would suggest going to bike repair shops and not places like ASP bla bla.

Imagine you walk in BS and tell them to clean your transmission, they ask you a question. What's wrong with your trasmission...

Your reply is,"oh no la its dirty liao. i like it clean."

Seriously they will reject you immediately too. But do be reminded, mechanics don't work for free. So don't expect a big discounts haha.

Take care and ride safe

What does "outside the curve, inside the curve, outside the curve" mean? Still dun understand from the video...

ehhh... assuming you are negotiating a left turning curve/bend...

1. When approaching the curve you keep to the right side and slow down a bit. *For us, we can tap the rear brake. For others, they use engine brake or drop gear.

2. When entering the curve, lean and cut inwards to the left side (push/pull handle bar to the right for faster lean). *Can throttle here to power thru the bend.

3. When exit the curve, upright the bike and it will come back to the right side again. *Aka slow in fast out. Of course there are those who practice faster in fastest out. Now they a bit slower liao because changed to very heavy bikes. hehe.

Therefore, when going into a curve, check the blind spot on the side of the turning. ** This one... SSDC got teach. No check = minus points.

The point here is not to cross the centre divider if it's a 2-way traffic :)

Now the front brake lever feels a bit "siap siap" but the rear is ok. Sprayed some lubricant at the lever but still the same.

a. is it time to change the brake fluid? 2.5 years old bike, 21k km.

b. does front and rear share the same brake fluid?

c. does front and rear share the same brake pump / master cylinder?

d. do you think I can just upgrade the front brake hose to steel braided?

In my opinion, whatever bikes you ride, before you decide to change hoses or upgrade your brake system, service them. Bleed and change fluids. Blow out the dust from your calipers regularly to prevent buildup and sticky pistons. Then you decide whether is there really a need to change your hoses or upgrade your system.

Actually, I've no issue with my SW400. After 1 year of riding, I've learnt how to manoeuvre it in sg congested roads. Power is good enough as I always ride solo; has enough storage; fully paid and is economical to maintain.

Only issue is back side itchy as this is only my 2nd bike and I've not experienced other "better" bikes. Some change bikes like change EO

Hahahahahha. you are right. we change bike like changing eo. because we actually dont want or lazy to change eo but decide to get a new bike and so hopefully we tell the seller(private or shop) to change tires, eo, new helmet, cover etc, etc) my just 2 cents view.

Brake pump kit and brake fluid I would recommend to change every 60k or 2 years.

Spongy feel will come on about that time.

Right side and left side pump assembly are separated.

Right for front brake only.

Left is for Rear brake and a bit of front.

yes, 200ml. Read up on the technical thread if you have the time.

BTW, when I changed after using for 12k km, oil still looks like new.

the drive bay (final transmission aka gears) needs about 320~330ml instead of 200. no worries about overfilling as the oil will overflow when reached the level.

btw, strongly recommend to follow the service manual and use 10w40 motor oil instead of gear oil.

If nothing wrong and want to regular service, then just flush and change the brake fluid can liao.

Our SW uses the smallest nozzle for the brake pump. Therefore it is always felt very under-powered. Brake performance will get worst faster than other bikes.

That's why must replace with a new pump (nozzle) after extended usage/years. Approx $60 each I think, include installation.

However, the most overlooked parts are the brake pistons at the wheel/brake disc. Just air-jet spray clean is not enough. Dirt or rust may built up over the years and jam the piston. Very dangerous. I flew once before.

When possible, do yearly thorough checking and cleaning.
