Hi all,

i'm currently learning 2B, at stage 1.03 now -_-"

wanted to get a Phantom TA200 after i pass...

been browsing through the forum for a time... and have some questions in mind.

so here some questions from me the ultimate newbie...

 

1. roughly how long to pass if i go for lesson once a week???

2. what's the diff between plate start with FV and FU

3. what are the good reputation bike shops and where are they?

4. total price to buy and replace the parts and admin fees etc...

5. saw some of the thread mentioned about TA150's 2T what's that and TA200

EO what's that??

6. roughly on which stage of my driving lesson should i start to look for a bike.

7. as i don't have a friend riding, so anyone can suggest a trust worthy shop to get the bike from?

8. what are the thing to take note when getting 2nd hand bike from shop?

9. is there any 2nd hand TA200 lesser than 2yr? and roughly how much?

1. this depends on how fast u pass ur lessons i guess.

2. the alphabets simply show u a rough gauge of the age of the bike, like FU is an older bike than FV; then FW is younger than FV. but not always true, cause sometimes ppl wanna change their number plate number, they will go register for a new number, then like an 8 year old bike may have e plate FBD which is currently for newer bike registrations.

3. bike shops got many but not all trustable lor. if u have enough money, i would suggest you buy from e forum. if u nd a loan then i suggest u go bike shop. my fren bought his from a shop called GNG at defu lane. no problems with them so far.

4. all these really depends bro.

5. ta 150 is 150cc n has a 2 stroke engine, u top it up with 2t engine oil, 2engine oil will get "eaten" so u will just keep topping up every now n then. ta 200 is 200cc n has a 4 stroke engine, u add 4t engine oil into this bike, e engine oil is not supposed to be eaten up, so u will change engine oil every 1000km to 2000km. e reason i say not supposed is cause in some ta 200, e engine oil does get eaten up n if u dun check regularly, ur engine might spoil n have to send for overhaul; $400 repair of engine.

6. bike super fast can find one, u pass ur TP then find can liao, dun kan chiong.

7. if u really want from shop my fren shop is e only one we got experience in, GNG lor. other shops i bo experience, but i still suggest getting one from e forum.

8. so many things to take note la bro, haha, best when u going to buy let some of us know, we follow u go look look together then teach u on e spot.

hmmm... stage 1.03 you say...? I suppose you are taking your lessons at... bbdc?

 

and dun worry... everyone was a newbie once, or still one

 

1. I would say about 5 months

 

2. the plates runs from A to AZ, F to FZ, FBA to FBE. so you can roughly tell the age of the bike by looking at the plate... in this case, FU plate is about 2001 to 2002, while FV is mostly 2002

 

3. good reputation bikeshops... is there really such a thing...?

 

4. you might spend a few hundreds to replace all / most of the wear and tear parts on your bike... admin fees...? which kind you are referring to...?

 

5. I will keep it short for you...

TA 150: 2 stroke engine, more powerful, requires 2 stroke oil, higher fuel consumption, usually higher maintenance

TA 200: 4 stroke engine, not as powerful as TA 150's engine, lower fuel consumption, lesser maintenance

 

6. you might start just a week or two before your tp... phantom isn't that difficult to find, so don't worry to much about it

 

7. I think you should ask some of the more experienced riders along to help you out... either way don't buy a bike by yourself!

 

8. things to take note... everything... thats why... you probably cannot shop for a bike by yourself...

 

9. I have seen FBD plate phantoms on the road... if you are looking for 2 years old phantoms... (FBB and FBC plates) I would guess they cost about 5k...?

hahah..Ta150..maintenace is lesser..in terms of repair..

there is less part to replace..

engine is easier to diy...

EO change ..up to 5000 km..

the only significant diff..is power and FC...IMHO..

Either call for a tow to workshop, or go buy a worm to DIY plug the hole yrself.

if the system cant quote u then it muz be something very wrong...retype properly, if all else fails, u still got singpost, or any vehicle insurance company can do it for u...check the letter from LTA asking u to renew ur rd tax...there is a huge list behind....

Remove any illegal mods (except lighting, just don't switch it on during the inspection) and bring ~$16 iirc for payment.

it would be best that you change the headlight assembly... shouldn't cost much...

guys. some mechanic told me to change brake pad , brake disk , chain and dunno what gear or gear box as they all going dead soon enuf . and he quote me 200+ for everything . do u think is acceptable ?

I think you meant brake pad ($20~), brake disc ($50~), chain and sprocket ($130~)...

 

so... flat $200 would be quite ok

no way... the gearbox is $500++...

then spocket is what thing ? the mechanic open the gear box tell me what replace this that , i was like " ahuh , okay , wth u talking . " lol.
