Police roadblock,but why only stop riders aside?

Hi guys im not sure if i write this in a correct thread.

I just wanna share,within this 2 weeks ive got into roadblock for 2 times while riding at 2 different places. The first one was a random roadblock..no barrier,police stop 4-5 bikes but no other four wheel vehicles was stop..i asked the police officer..why only bikes??he answer..because tat area got alot of bikes theft and thats the reason why they only stop bikes.And i really understand what they doing and i even said thats a good job.

 

The second roadblock i face last few days really pissed me off..a complete roadblock this time with barrier.Upon reaching the officer at the barrier.he asked me to park aside where i can see a few bike n riders already there being screen. So i parked aside and the other officer ask for my license.While waiting for them to screen my particular which took about 5 mins,i look back at the first stop which the officer with the barrier,he didnt stop any four wheels vehicles,alot of cars,taxi drivers,the sad thing is the officer didnt even ask them to wind down their window..he just see n ask to go..in my mind i was thinking..how are they going to catch drunk drivers if thats the only check they do. And i even saw cars like fully modded evo n wrx pass the roadblock freely.

 

So im asking myself..do we riders really a second class peoples in their eyes of view?So after the screening completed i asked the officer with my angry and sarcastic face...why only bikes???the officer reply..we already stop a few cars earlier on...i was like wth..i replied sarcasticl,ohok..i tot u guys oni stop bikes..if yes i will just drive next time...as he can see i got class 3 in the driving license.

 

i really got pissed on what happened,i hope they will do their job fairly next time.They shoud do a proper check on drivers too..especially a drunk one which has killed alot of riders.

 

So guys what do u think of those scenario..any tips what can i say to them next time if im happened to get into roadblock again and this scenario happen again?

i encountered 2 roadblocks, 1 with pillion, the other myself. They have stopped cars, but they ask me to move on.

2nd one is they ask me 1 question; where u going? i said home, then just go

aiya want to stop stop lor... did nothing wrong, nothing to hide. Dun kuai lan them, they can hold you back for hours "to check yr details".

 

Like that also good la... need more road blocks to weed out no license cuckoos, bike thieves, no insurance, etc...

not true, roadblocks usually close up all lanes into 1

 

so lets say there's 3 lanes, they close the 2 lanes filter into 1

 

then the extra 2 lanes use for screening

they are probably checking for stolen bikes? i ever encountered road blocks whereby they just asked the bikes to move on.. cars are stopped and tp shine into the cars.. dunno for convicts? illegal immigrants?

 

anyway to answer the root of your question, yes riders are lower class than drivers in their eyes.. in many pple's eyes as well.

Im riding a normal sport bike and a YBR ... When im riding my YBR , i encountered a few roadblocks and they let me off .. No screening and **** ... But when im riding my sport bike , i got screened frequently by Tp .. Its the bike we ride anyway .. final conclusion

last time when i was riding m y SP..gena road block sure gena stop one..then the TP will wave all the phantoms to move on..its like that one la.now ride super 4 ....haven gena road block yet..come to think of it..the last road block i gena was like...3 years ago..

i dun mind being singled out to stop just coz i'm on a bike. it just means higher chances of bike thieves being caught. and thats a good thing. imagine one fine day your bike stolen and the thief just ride thru a road block coz the mata single out cars and ignore bikes. then you'll be complaining why they never check bikes

 

and besides i realli do encounter road blocks where they just wave me on and yet they stop all the cars for detailed checks.

I also encountered one road block at paya lebar there. And no they are not biased against bikes bah. I slowly road up to barrier, officer look at me then just wave me on. But yeah if for cars they dont ask them wind down, they should

i think depends on what is their operation - sometimes catch bikes, sometimes catch cars lor.

the last road block i got stopped i shook my head n one of the officer got agitated...

next i just threw my IC n licence on my fuel tank let him pick it up himself..

why? cos he point my bike to his colleague say suspect i drink driving when i only just finished a movie session just becos my eyes was red (tired type of red)

Drove before, reason why the police officer just waved on is because, the Road tax for cars is printed on the wind screen, Police just shine the trouch, see already and wave them on, like what Dragonforce said.

 

Bike's road tax is clipped on at the side, harder to see, plus also a good time to check insurance to see if the bike was stolen. So the bike kena stopped lah.

 

Insurance is also another reason why cars are not pulled over to the side, but bikes are.

For cars, drivers can be changed, using only 1 insurance. For bikes, each person must have his or her own personal insurance for each and every bike.

 

That's why police are not so particular and will not stop them to check for insurance when driving. As long as you have the road tax and class 3 licence you are safe. I was once stopped while driving home because I didn't display the new road tax disc. Officer let me go after I fished it out from the envelope in the glove box. Goes to show they do their job seriously.

 

As for drunken drivers, you can usually see it from the eyes, and flushed skin. So also no need to stop.

Very true. I was waved on before when riding my Phantom, but saw another rider riding an SP pulled over to the side.

Driving that time also, eyes red from wearing contact lens for more than 10 hours, officer ask me to wind down window and ask me for licence and where I was going, think he was just trying to see if I was sober and check for alcohol smell.

i ever ask the police before and their reply was

 

Generally, i mean Generally

 

 

1. bikes are easier to steal

 

2. bikes are more accessible to the younger crowd

 

3. the age group of riders are generally younger which means higher chance of traffic offence

 

 

i cant help but to agree cos wad he mention are facts.

 

anyway as you progress to class 2 bike and u aged you be check lesser than leseer

 

 

anyway for all the old timers here, guess you guys still remembered around 3-5 yrs back, there was an island wide crackdown where all class 2b and 2a bikes were stopped and impounded irregardless of age and bike including uncle on GN125.

 

there was like 50-100bikes being escorted to TP Hq one shot.

There usually r 2 kinds of road block.

1; police road block which they usually check the vehicle and the rider or driver if looks suspisious they might stop you.

2; traffic police road block that usually catch those drunken masters.

TS, cool down. The boys in uniform are just doing their work. They are also drawing salary just like most of us here. Like some guys here say, my guess it's that they have specific objective(s) when they carry out an operation. They can go strictly by the books if one choose to be unfriendly with them. Of course, in the event that anyone of them is not carrying out their duties professionally, then lodge a complaint against them.

i'd rather they stop me lor... that shows that they are doing something about the increasing bike theft rates...

 

scully they stop you, look your bike up and down, and then say...

 

"eh your bike very nice, i looking for a bike like yours leh, want to sell?"

If its anything. I'd say ITS ALL OREOSWORLD FAULT. Muahahahaha... (found the bike yet?) Too many bike theft cases lah. Thats y they do more checks for bikes. Check drink driving at normal roads like not many hits. Plus they need extra resources for drink driving checks. Most of those type of roadblocks near town area or pubs...

thou i never encounter roadblock on my ta200 but do encounter on my bicycle..

 

 

sometime is depend on the location of the roadblock and the bike you are riding also..

 

 

My friend who is a SP rider always get roadblock and TP loves cruising beside him while his riding.
