Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere

Hi guys, am planning to get a Tenere 1200 within the next few months.

Not in a hurry to get one actually since i still have my trusty bike.

But i have read up local and foreign forums pretty extensively on this bike, the KTM 990ADV and the 1200GS.

Due to price range and affordability, my choices were the KTM and the Tenere but riding a shaft bike currently, the choice pretty obvious that i have started to pretty much forget the pain of living with a chain! Hahaha!

Any recommendations on package deals from dealers on the S10?

I understand that some dealers include the side panniers, bash plate etc etc when u buy the S10.

Any recommendations?

There isn't any promo package anymore by HL and what u get is the 'naked' bike. Having said that, it isn't really a 'bad thing' cos most of us moved on from OEM accessories to more durable and sturdy aftermarket brands.

 

PI dealers may still throw in some sweets but honestly there's only a couple of OEM stuff I'll keep like the lampcover and foglamps. In an unlikely event they willing to, get the wind deflectors and tall tour screen.

 

You may also consider used units. Not only of the lower costs, but some already come with accessories and u won't have to start from scratch.

If they are then they won't be parallel imports liao.

 

Some bikeshops like Bike Production and I think ASP get their S10s from HL so u'll also get the agent warranty.

 

PI like Looi's will be solely Looi's own 'warranty'.

Alot of color choices and not the common brands of raincoat riders are using. Quality of water resistant is as good as NS issued. However, it's of a much thinner layers to suit our hot climate. I am selling a used Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z OEM Tall Screen for $180.

 

This item is an original accessories from Yamaha made specially for the Super Tenere. It is a nice clear screen

with an etched "Super Tenere" logo plus wordings on it's bottom left corner. Etchings are made by factory. The screen

is higher and wider than the stock screen.

 

I do not have the pictures of the screen but for reference pls refer to the website below.

Condition is 9/10 except for small pittings from stones. Not really visible.

anyone did de- cat on the OEM header and exhaust? cos i did before on my previous bike (FZ1s 2007) bike has more output cools down faster more responsive...

This question has been debated till death over at our FB page. Really it's up to individual...

 

Both standard and WC are identical in all areas mechanically and electronically with the only diff is the 'accessories'. If its me however, and the price for both standard and WC is the same, I'll get the WC and buy my own preferred cases. The OEM cases are from Givi and they ain't aluminium actually. Some loves it... While I have my own preference.

 

The complete WC kit is around $3K which is around same for standard promo 3 cases and crashbar. Both comes with skidplates.

 

But if u just wan hasslefree purchase and not have to go source for racks and cases then the standard is also a good choice.

the 2 materials are of almost the same... cant really compare lah... as Givi does OEM cases for Honda also..

neway, the OEM cases arent & cant compare to those more hardy & expensive brands lah...

 

& IMO, I think the mounts & builts of the OEM cases for S10 are just plain normal with rooms for more improvement... that is if Yahaha listens...
