Take a look at one of the comments from that group of uneducated persons:

'J' plates are just a shade worse than 'F' plates. All are dangerous and ought to be banned.

Parents worry about thier kids on bikes.

Wifes worry about their husbands on bikes.

Other motorists worry about getting involved in an accident with a bike cos chances are the rider will be killed.

How many more need to be killed on the roads before someone realise bikes are nothing more than cheap and convenient death machines. The social cost is simply too much. Nowadays I see a worrying trend - more females riding bikes...a machine which supposedly stronger man already find hard to handle.

My father in law skidded while riding many years ago and was in a 3 days coma..was a totally different person when he woke up...wife divorced him and now is unemployed due to mental problems..got another friend who's whole hand got chopped off from a bike accident some years ago and was killed instantly. He was only 20 years old.

I think many of us can also share the near misses or even accidents while driving everyday....

Pls do some social good - BAN IT!

Explain why my father rode motorcycles for over 40 years without a single accident?

Point two - I've seen many female riders and none of them were aggressive in any way, unlike the writer of the above commentary. The only thing more disgusting than ill-informed journalism is a sexist forum.

Any vehicle going at high speeds can become a deathtrap -- this risk is not exclusive to motorcyclists. The only difference I see is while a motorcyclist dies a quick painful death, drivers might suffer a slow, agonising rot as a veg (all else held constant; ceteris paribus).

Might As Well Ban Airplanes Too. :sian:

I agreed totally with you comments. These were always I had experinced also.

In fact there is laws in placed already that motorcyclist can not rive in the right lane. Only left lane is allowed for motorcyclist. Yah, the traffic police should enforce the law more strictly to the motorcyclists and the bicycle riders.

some comments really dunno wanna laugh or cry.. :dozed:

Don't blame the Traffic Police. They are not meant to check every road. The main problem is in the motocyclist and bicycle riders. The motorcyclist like to drive in between the two lane and especially in between the two extreme right lane. The bicycle riders I experineced they ride through the trffic light pedestrian crossing like no body. Thinking they are king. These are the points traffic police should take close check tarrorly.

Hey Guys/Girls ,

What Happens IF Our Govt Say That We (Riders) Should Follow Regulations Like Cars (The One Happened In France On March) No split lanes etc....?

So Should We Protest By Doing The Same ? Or Just Suck Thumb ? If So How Do We Gather All Riders Here In S'pore To Unite Just Like The French Does With A Amount Of 40,000 Riders & IF We Managed To Gather It What Do You Think Will Happen To Us ?

*Apologise me , Im Just Curious IF This Might Happen To Us. Cheers & Ride Safe ! :)

Firstly, i do not think that our government will do such a thing. They are smart enough to know that if they ever did so, they will further increase the congestion on the road. Can you imagine that if they did this, the whole singapore will suffer. Increased congestion, macdonalds or pizza hut take long time to come, no more "the dot guarantees its hot", news papers cannot be delivered on time etc.

Anyway, motorcycles are dangerous. Can fall and skid. Cars also, can crash people. Lorry also, cargo and fall off, trailer also, heavy goods can fall off. MRT also, people can jump on track and die, get stuck in the doors, kenna molested, same as bus, bus crash, all kenna injured.

You tell me which moving thing not safe? Even if soccer ball hit you at side of the road, you fall onto the main road, kenna run over by vehicle, also dangerous. You live 12 floor, also dangerous, can fall down and die. How like that? Ban all life in singapore?

And for protests to happen in Singapore? Never. For a few reasons.

Singaporeans like to look after their personal benefits. People will fly aeroplane and not show up, or decide that watching a show with their loved one is a better use of time. And, more likely than not, get into fights with one another while forming up for the protest.

Secondly, it won't even get past the planning stages. Likely to be monitored before you can get around to executing the plan. More than 5 of you getting together? Say hello to ang qia and your bikes can up lorry.

Lastly, even if the protest takes off. As a result of the massive jams which will ensue. It might be possible that the govt will declare that motorcycles are large contributors to heavy traffic volume and proceed to increase ERP charges and impose COE supply cuts drastically on M/Cs.

the reason motorcyclists filter though traffic is because cars drivers a damn-f***king slow.

motorcycle dangerous?

when was the last time you saw an accident involving 5 motorcycles?

to date, i've witnessed more than 7 times, pile ups which involved 5 and more cars.

Indeed, the only reason why I split-lane (look, im in a fat cruiser!) is because I know the car in front is proceeding in a clumsy, slow, jerky manner and will jam brakes without warning the next second.

In filter lanes, they will also not check for oncoming traffic until the last half second and cause an instant pileup.

Evasion is better than cure. And if everyone kept reasonable road manners and didn't tailgate as a habit, I'll be happily riding in car lanes all day like it's the US :p

a few weeks back, a black airwave tailgate me on PIE, from Bedok all the way to Loyang...

He come close and horn, so I accelerate abit, pull quite far away then i slow down again... and he will accelerate and horn at me again...

then around tampines, he accelerate to come beside me and ask me to pull over...

i ignored him and he followed me all the way to loyang...

at the traffic light, he rolled down his window and told me

"I don't want to argue with you ah, but motorcycle cannot ride on first lane......."

I closed me visor and just ignored him...

Might be this Steven Ho joker...

Clearly in such a situation, a justified and moral response would be to show him the bird.

One reason why I like motorcycling is because it's dangerous.

Its so difficult to explain the rush you get... Must try to know... My highest rush was when the car jammed brake, i check blindspot, swerve and lane split between to vehicle when they so close, only like got 3cm from my side mirrors to theirs at high speed.

Might have kindly informed the driver. "If my level of intelligence was as low as yours, I wouldn't want to argue either." :D

Speaking of intelligence. For those drivers who love to park in handi lots, here's a picture you can print out and place under their wipers for them.

Banning motorcycle he says.. Fukk la, In southeast asia, bikes are king of the roads, look at Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, Indonesia and Cambodia.. It just so happens that Singapore has more cars than bikes, funny right? It takes 3 bloody cars to road hog in front of the pack to cause a fukkin massive jam and hence for us riders to squeeze all the way to our destination and its still them who puts us in danger.. It takes 1 drunk driver to kill 2 riders like the accident at Bt Batok Rd few months back.. It takes 1 driver to skid and go out of control on a rainy day and either kill innocent motorists or hit other cars and cause massive jams.. In the end, in my book, cars are just random missiles waiting to kill riders.. :shades:

this is such an interesting topic. drivers r not able to drive fast so they say riders ride fast. most drivers have lousy driving skills n they say riders ride dangerously. y dun they comment on drivers who use the phone when driving? eating? picking up something on foot board? taking something from the passenger compartment? n end up like driving on a snake course on straight road? slow down for reasons like inserting cashcard to prevent paying the fine, slow down to see number plates of accident vehicles, ending up hogging the lane?

did they even know that on rainy days, most accidents involved r cars? cars skidded, car romance another car, cars gang bang? do they even know how to drive defensively? knowing their cars' capability just like hardcore bikers know their bikes' capability?

some even commented that bikers shd oso follow the Q rather than lane spliting. well, if bikers really follow the Q, i think the drivers will b the ones to horn us out of the lane. cos if bikes Q, the traffic will b even longer!!

in short, they r just pure jealous of wat a bike is capable of.

Unfortunately he's probably the type with no skill in clutch control and launch from the traffic light slower than the 2 ah pek riding tricycle in Toa Payoh so I'd just ignore the bugger and go on my merry way. After preening my hair and wiping down the mistress's chrome at the red light :p
