First of all, I'm not sure if there's a similar thread, if there is, MOD you're free to lock this one.

Back to topic, like every newb rider, I am very excited when I'm shopping for my first bike. So perhaps we can share a little information?

Bike model:

Which year was that:

Price paid for machine:

How long did you ride that bike:

I reckon the price stated would be a great help for future riders in gauging their budget.

When you have walked my path of pain and suffering

you will understand my need for revenge and to inflict pain on those who have betrayed me

As a scorpion bides its time to strike so shall I wait for that moment to obtain my vengeance

And my mocking laughter shall be the last thing they hear. In The End, We Remember Not The Words Of Our Enemies, But The Silence Of Friendships

I have seen those very old C50 Cubs in Penang. Totally classic, you won't find them in Singapore anymore. Surprisingly, those I saw still seems to be running on stock parts from headlights to rear mirrors. That is almost 50 years of riding?

My first bike was a 2008 Aprillia RS125 ... It was the best 2B bike i eva had ... The stability of the bike is superb and kicks ass , toasting the

other 2B bikes ... I crashed twice though , ending repairing a total sum of $8 k for it .... Wat a failure i am ... haha

now he's trying to restore the bike back to former glory. 50 years and still in 1 piece!

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Yamaha 125Z, second hand purchase from a motoshop my father frequents for servicing.

$2,000.00 inclusive of tax, insurance etc, and it was a steal because the bike was only one year old with the odometer showing 7,400+kms.

I rode it around the apartment carpark for a while after I got my PDL, clocking up about 100kms. When I passed I rode it daily until last February.

Extremely fast and efficient machine that was tuned very well by the shop and previous owner.

While it can and did dent the egos of a lot of "bigger" bike riders over the years (skill and gd handling > horsepower), it is also a very safe machine because the dual disc brakes are great and the suspension setup is pretty much idiot proof. You can take corners on this thing at indicated 130kph with a pillion (Do not try this at home).

After many years of owning the 125Z I was forced to sell it off as it was totally worn out and the engine was no longer reliable. (I met the person who bought the bike the other day and I was like... lol who asked you to buy my bike. It is not designed to last!)

For new riders I will recommend idiot proof bikes like the 125Z. Of course, nowadays you have excellent 4 stroke replacements from Yamaha which may not be as quick but are definitely safer and more reliable. Yamaha designs and builds very good motorcycles that have good power to weight ratio and easy handling.

I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself.

Just sold my first bike. What a bummer. :( Now I'm riding a RXZ which is in really bad condition; oil leaking at the front fork seal, steering cone ball bearing worn out, front wheel ball bearing worn out, 2T oil leakage, and SPOILT IU (OMG.. I entered the ERP twice with it okay! I was so scared that I will get summon but luckily never ^_^). Also, the sitting posture for this bike is awful. When I sat on my rebel, I felt like a king on the road. :3

First and best ride ever since I received my license in November '10 (haha, actually I started riding this bike in August'10 illegally in my school compound for practice :x )

Honda Rebel 125cc (or CA125)

price of bike: $780

insurance: $770

Wasted that the COE is so friggin' expensive. If not, I would have kept this head turner for myself and modded it into a mini-bobber. Surprisingly, people recognized me by the bike I ride. :D

Kawasaki Kr..COI from a friend in 2004 when i got my 2B..monthly instalment 130 x 1 year++..

Luckily at that point of time the insurance policy is not like now, i only paid for the admin fees to add name as sub rider.

Rode for almost 2 years.

That bike gave me alot of problems!

Was a 1997 Aprilia RS125 Replica.

Shelled out abt 5K for it. Rode it for 10 months.

Bought it in not so good condition. Did it up to good running condition.

Even did 2 top-end overhauls on it due to piston blowing. One after a crash in M'sia which severed the radiator pipe... but I still had to ride it back home from the rural areas. Overheated and seized eventually in SG. Gasket blew and coolant got into the crank.

The other happened after a track session where I really pushed it. Some bearing in the crank gave way a few days later.

Loved it to bits then. But looking back, it was a frakking disasterpiece.

I've never really gone back to Italian bikes after that.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3. Purchased in 2007. Had a GSX400R which sold after 6 months as my poor spine cant handle extended periods on the bike, and a Vespa GT200L for 2 years before i finally got the first owner to sell it off. Difficult to self service, and parts are expensive. Still riding the pulsar though. Irregardless of what anyone says, the pulsar is a good bike that can last you, provided you take good care of it. which is really simple to do! naked bikes FTW.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 - UG3 (2007 - )

Suzuki GSXR-400 (2008 - 2009)

Piaggio Vespa GT 200L (2009 - 2011)

Yamaha YBX 125 (2010 - )

Yamaha FZ S1 '05 (2011 - )
