depends on what ur looking for in a bike..transport only or transport + fun...imo...kawasaki 250 ninja is a stupid bike..pay so much but powerwise slightly above class 2b,better buy class 2b like that..

if u know much about engine, think about it,cbr400 is inline 4 piston bike while kawa 250 is a twin cylinder..if wanna upgrade..upgrade properly..

my opinions are solely biased towards inline 4 coz i seriously hate two cylinder 250cc..good luck!

Quite a number of people in singapore opt for the older inline-4 configuration japanese engines because a well-maintained specimen does indeed give you more power. However, all engines, even when well-maintained, lose power with age. Machines consist of many components that all contribute to final rear wheel power output and engine torque. Degraded components will cause you to lose a few HP here and there and the result is a general decrease in power. Even engine overhauls do not always solve the problem, since there are many more factors that contribute to HP loss than just degraded engine components. Restoring a machine completely is exceedingly time consuming, expensive and often, not done properly, or completely.

So while you may have started with a claimed horsepower of ~50 when the CBR400 was new about 16 years ago, depending on how the bike has lived and been abused, today you may very well have ~40 HP or less, combined with greater engine inefficiency resulting in increased fuel consumption. The 250 ninja started with a claimed horsepower of 33 just a 1 year ago, and probably still has close to that figure. Two cylinder engines return higher kms/L from less cylinders and also are more efficient for city riding as power develops lower in the rev range. The power difference is thus likely less than 10 hp for a significantly higher FC (by my estimate 17-18km/L for the CBR and 28-33km/L for the kawa based on manufacturer's mpg figures ) and also usually more problematic and costly maintainence.

If you can afford the 2.25 times price point, I would take the 250 Ninja over the CBR400 for the reasons above. If you really must have an inline-4, take a CB400 or GSR400 instead.

The CBR 400 is however easier to resell, and unless singapore changes their licensing system, or new 400cc sport bikes appear for 2A holders, should continue to retain their overpriced value. It's practically a worthless bike in the west though

i feel 250 ninja is still a bit too pricey, give it a few more years of depreciation and it will be a good buy...

if you have just cleared your class 2a and plan to upgrade to a bigger class 2 bike in the future, then i feel its not worth shelling out the cash on a 250 ninja which is close to double the price of a cbr400....

dun buy 2a..save ur money..1 yr ltr take cl2..den u gt more options of sportsbikes. maintenance wise abit e same as 2a bikes..juz insurance n rd tax. if u ride cbr400..u feel e speed yes..and then an r1 overtakes u..u so pissed off u feel like upgradin..so save dat money 1st..tahan 1 more yr. last time i thought i would be happy wif juz a super4..end up now im ridin a fz1. if u dun intend to upgrade..buy a newer 2a bike..no point spendin countless trips to e mechs to revitalise a 16yr old bike

If money is a concern, then get a newer bike. :)

From personal experience of owning a old (>10yrs) sport bike, there are constant replacement of parts which sometimes can be quite costly.

Plus unsure of what kind of maintenance schedule that previous owners have done, the bike might not be in a good condition.

Hence imho, I would choose a newer bike now so as to avoid all these headaches.

Life is good.

Hi,

Off topic slightly, Since when or rather which part or parts makes a SuperFour "Kan Nar Sai"?

If so, care to recommend a bike under Class 2A other than the Superfour?

Giving recommendation via factors like; Engine Capacity, Engine Specification,Handling, Fuel consumption, Buying and resale value is one thing...

However, giving baseless "BRANDING" in this case some how unjustifiable with the Huge Stable and Loyal Fans of the here said "Superfour" locally.

Do you mean in context that all Superfour are so?
