bro, I believe to each his own preference...u may have a passion for an R6 bike, but will the desire dies off.....I'm indeed an RVF rider; but it voice down to passion. Furthermore, as u may aware SG does not have alot of choice for the 400cc...it's either a CBR400/GSXR400 or RVF....and comparing to just these 3 bikes, we can tell straight which one has the latest technology....so why complain it's so expensive to own....it all comes down to demand and supply and as well how deep is ones pocket?

One may only have enough for a R107 but again another guy may have deep pocket for a 1098...then again the question comes back, why that bugger wanna spend 50K for an italian bike that cost almost as good as a car and yet less power compare to a Japanese bike.....

it's always good to have comments but be constructive on your comments rather than trying to push out one class of bikes....afterall, how fast can u ride in SG....btw, i'm just trying to put in some of my opinion generally and not purposely trying to defence my bike model....afterall, it's just a machine to me....no hard feelings....

Bro, no hard feelings at all.. neither am I trying to push out any class of bikes. I am not a R6/R1 fan. Please be clear that I am not complaining about anything at all. I am coming from a purely economics point of view. I am riding a BMW and i know its crazy price to pay (I am one of those bugger you mentioned) ha ha. However, if you looked at my initial query was.. whats so special about RVF that makes people willing to pay so much for it?

Of course there's demand and supply.. but i am puzzled about the demand part. If you say latest technology, RVF is coming to 10 years. What latest technology are we talking about here? How latest is latest? Then could it be like what was mentoined that its the coolest 2a bike around, so no choice but to succumb to the market price for the RVF? But if i were a 2A rider, wouldnt it be wiser to get a class 2 and use the same amount of money to buy a class 2 sports bike? You are RVF owner, then there's no better person than you to ask this question. All I am asking is whats makes you willing to pay a premium price for a bike like RVF? I am really curious about it.

I have nothing against RVFs.. i would have asked the same questions over Africa Twins. So far, I can only think of these 2 bikes that can sell for so much even after so many years. I remember when I bought my used Varadero 1000, it cost almost the same as an old AT. Howver i think the craze of AT has died down somewhat and gone are the days where they are selling for 8-9k for a 4-5 year machine.

I am starting a open thread where i hope everyone can discuss about their views. As nobody is making any sales here, i think no one gets hurt at the end of the day right? :cheeky:

hey bro come on la if you say purely economics point of view dan in the first place u will not get 2a and even 2b go for bus or mrt better. no hard feeling..

i myself at first also thinking of the Ques you post when i got my 2a bike. but end up i still buy RVF... its all because of passion of the bike. why not u compare ppl buying those XXX bicycle cost ard 3k to 4k i am not joking there is really bicycle that cost that much.. why dont you ask them why ??? the money can get a 2b bike but why spent it on biclcye?? and why there is still ppl wanna buy cagiva Mito that cost can buy a cheap 2a bike? why ppl wanna buy ducatti ??? and more.. dont tell me in life you dont come over something beside bike that u like it alot and but dont really worth the cost. but end up still get it... E.g bag, shoes, jean or more and why ppl wanna buy branded stuff t-shirt that the cost i can buy maybe 3 of a normally one... why??? cos that life..

last but not less when you really had passion in something you will get in no matter of the cost unless you really cant affort it.

Yes the 400cc class is limited in a way but bikes like CBR400(NC29), VFR400(NC30), RVF400(NC35), NSR250(PGM250), RS250 are still sought after by favoured riders. For those who thinks that RVF is the best, they are wrong! Each bike in it's class has it's pros and cons. I will not elaborate further, if you want to know...do your own research and ask around the owners of each bike.

Ok enough mumbling...how many "passionate" RVF riders are out there? Willing to spend more money on your bike? Will the mods below tempt you?

i think we cannot compare the prices for class 2 and class 2A bike largely due to demand. I would say there are more demand for class 2A bikes compared to class 2 bikes due to more ppl having class 2A licence. Class 2 bikes are alot harder to sell than a class 2A bike from my experience.

Although i would not say the RVF is the latest bike but since there are no more 400cc sports bikes in production, i would say is the last of its kind.

:p

You read my mind Dinesh.

you need to ride one, to know why we own it.

I feel price shldnt be an issue when you really want something.

I would rather save up, make sure i have enuff cash to spare and buy a bike i really like than settle for something cheaper.

I like RVF because I like V-engine.

Middle weight 4-stroke, friendly-around-town v-engined bike with nice power please? Here's yr RVF, thank u very much.

How about we put aside the SG license classes rom the equation.

Supply on demand governs the price. Price/ performance ratio is not the only consideration when buying a bike (or anything, for that matter).

And apart from all that, there's also p-a-s-s-i-o-n :)

Accelerate hard, brake harder.

i shall tell u why rvf is so exp althou its an old bike. becos all the 2a-gonna-bes are dreaming to own an rvf! (i happen to be in that category) why? becos its fast, newest of the 400cc, its a honda, and pro-arm! so when u have demand, supply can mark up their prices.

Generally, i would say RVF is a very good bike that i used to ride and i still miss it. got $ i will buy 1 and keep

Brand new during my time 2000 is $18-19k

i bought 2nd hand $13.8k and after 2+ years trade in price $10K down for my VFR.

The 1 in Boon Siew is not 400, its a RVF750 and its not street legal thats what i heard... price? better dun ask... mayb can buy MV Augusta or more

RVF so special look during that time is becos

no more in production since 1999? not 2 sure

rear swing arm

front inverted fork

2 air intake inlets

small short easy to handle, but heavy for stable cornering

V4 engine.... some hate the sound, but for those who love it, u know its a V4 electric sound

think any1 who mount that bike knows how easy it is to handle and the front steering is really stable during corner.

those who had ride it know what i mean...

BUT, what i hate most

same fate for most Honda bikes..... Battery Rectifier Coil problem... heard CBR1000 burnt like flies

V4 is known to be running very hot... so next time u c a RVF VFR ST11/STX fly past u like madman, its not bcos he trying2 show off or what.... its just 2 hot, they r trying to cool "birdie" down or else "birdie brother" will not b so "productive" :cheeky:

it really boils down2 each and individual personal like-ing choice and budget.

i wont say RVF is the best. they r still CBR L model, KawaZX4 and Suzuki GSXR K? cant remember the 1 with 2 exhaust

the greatest joke i have heard from MINDEF forum is a guy parks his bike and there was RVF400 and VTR1000 parking side by side. He ask his gf which would she prefer to b pillion... the girl say RVF... that guy was mad like !@#$%^&*()

just my nonsense
