Just curious, when the belt snap, will it mess up other parts? I suppose it will be very dangerous when the belt snaps at high speed

Posted

Carburetor 06 Fatboy hesitates, spits/coughs/farts (choose either one) when I move off from standstill or even when cruising. What gives? This happen 3~4 weeks ago on a night ride with Don. With high rev, the hesitation/spitting etc etc it seems to have cleared up for that night. The theory is that it may be due to water content in the fuel.

- 52 state pipes/high flow air filter

- just serviced by HD..rides OK after service

- just installed lockable HD fuel cap- could this be the culprit? Maybe not venting correctly and hence causing fuel not to flow correctly....

I only ride once/twice every 3 weeks- too much traveling...

Any other theory/possibilities? Search on AngMoh websites mostly say that it is too lean..

My belt (like hagar's) snapped when taking off at the traffic light, so I let it roll onto the pedestrian island. It wouldn't have been good if it snapped while on lane 1 on the highway.

Its not going to mess up any other parts.

About your coughing fatty, could it be that one of the cylinders is misfiring?

The service package is valid for 2 years? I wasn't told about that.

the first page of the service package spelt out in black and sliver that it is valid for 2 years or 16000km, whichever comes first.

wanna ride with madness?

Assuming the servicing checked all other parts, the service manual leans toward bad fuel or plugged venting. Venting is not from the cap but a separate valve.

I had this problem with my first Sporty in the end had the slow jet changed in the carby - something to do with the emissions laws in the US whilst Harley was still trying to keep carby models. At the time the then mechanic at the dealership Zul knew a fair bit about this and it helped - you may want to google it. Others with the same problem changed out their carbies completely to the S&S or Mikuni. Since going EFI with PCV I dont have these problems at all anymore

After Mate!!

Looks good. The black pipes make a huge difference!

What kind of shocks are you going for? I have 11" pro 412, they make the ride very harsh, but its slammed.

I actually like the stock seat. Once you switch, I wouldnt mind taking a look at yours to see how it fits as compared to my wide mustang solo. I do think it may look strange if you have a spring seat and also rear shocks unless your going for struts. just my 2 cents. I do have a corbin barebones seat. Even w/gel, its hard on the bum, but thats also because the 11" shocks.

the chrome tail light seems a little too bright for this beautiful matt black machine... V&H pipes look and probably sound great!

the gp800 is a sportsbike in scooter body. anyway, had a quick look at your videos. while they look like a lot of fun, ride safe bro... some parts look a little scary and since some of the fun overtaking parts are on public roads, hope other road users wont get upset at u (and us)

You bet. Here it is with KTM Superduke 990R and a couple of superbikes on its way up Genting.

This scooter will cruise faster than an XR1200 will on the Highway, and only just a little slower in the twisty bits......

I was told 11'' is the lowest compromise level for comfort, any lower will be form over function and a lot of pain in the ass. You're right, the original solo seat is both comfy and cool. I would have prefer the HD original Brown Solo Seat's look but in Black instead. So if your 11" "suspension"(missed out on this word earlier, may give the wrong idea)":cheeky: is hard, i may go progressive then. Thanks for the feedback.:bounce:

You're right on.

I'm currently working on a Single strip of Custom LED Plasma Light Tube, incorporating Brake-Run-Stop cum signal lights. Something very similar to Vrod Muscle rear fender look. Then, i'll chop the fender, discard the tail light with the side lights too. Incorporate the strip into the fender's edge and it will be slick. Hope it is possible.....awaiting US reply.

I have the progressive 412 heavy duty. So unless your heavy (100+kg) then stay with regular 412. Or better yet, try lowering blocks as a lot cheaper and still has the same ride. Unless you want a stiffer suspension, then go for the 11".

Thanks for the reminder bro......

The Genting stretch is actually a private road built by the Casino people. And the car drivers are actually more dangerous than the bikers up there, they don't keep to their lane, hog the right when they should be on the left, and drift all over he road without regard to others, while we bikers will always be on the lookout for those driving with their brain in neutral, not just to avoid them, but to ensure our survival.

Anyway, here's a saner and slower one of the Harley trailing the BMW S1000RR shot last week.

Cheers

in case anybody is interested, i got a pair of lowering blocks for use with my previous 2004 1200XLR. Cast metal type, nothing fancy.

And since I'm at it, I dont suppose anyone would have the original front signal mounts for the handlebar after relocating your front signals to the fork?

Yes, thats the same. But mine are chrome so wont go with your black theme. I bought mine from Eastern Performance. Similar price. I am not selling unless upgrade to better shocks.

Cool, i'll likely buy that then. Thanks for the referral.

Cheers
