For 696 should be 7k change oil, check plugs, 15 k change plugs, oil filter, normal servicing. 20 k should be valve shimming. Go to a good ducati mechanic, they can advise you better.

Dreamed I was a muffler. Woke up exhausted.

I know it's a rare post coming from me, the lone ranger/rider type.

Since we're nearing the end of 2010, are we having a Monster meet up?

I'm not a meet up kind of guy but i will try to go for once at least.

just a thought.

Pilot Road 2s are good. Less than $350 iirc. Or you can go for something sportier since the 400 won't chew up tires as fast as the bigger dukes.

Haha I don't have a monster right now and mine was red, not yellow.

Thank you! Just got my bike today.. still need to get use to.

Btw, any idea how can i adjust the biting point? It seems a little too far out for me.

M696 uses hydraulic clutch so you cannot adjust. You need to buy an adjustable clutch lever like CRG.

BTW I think the schedule for M696 maintenance is 12K / 24K / 36K and so on. Do a search on its maintenance manual and get the full list.

if its the same as the older monster hydraulics, it can be adjusted.

all you need is a screw driver to adjust the actuating bolt which presses/moderates the fluid in the reservoir

go take it good look at your clutch lever set up, shouldnt take more than 30 secs to discover how

Not sure if the M696 is the same but no reason to think otherwise since the older models have it, the newer ones shouldnt be worse off.

The actuating bolt in the M696 is glued shut with resin. At least mine was. Hence the adjustable clutch lever.

For the price, you can check out HKL or Unique's advertisers board for the tires list and prices. I would use pilot road 2 if you like a good overall balance of wet/dry grip and it lasts long. Grip is not as fantastic as BT 016/ dunlop alpha 10/11. You might want to try pirelli angel, st a new tyre.

When it comes to bikes, I only see red…

if the aftermarket clutch is too heavy you might want to get an aftermarket slave cylinder. This will also "cause" the biting point to be nearer the handlebar as more "squeeze" is needed for lighter action. So you get 2 benefits from 1 product. Less force to depress clutch and nearer biting point from the slave cylinder. Brands are STM, Evolutionize, Ducati Performance etc.

thanks guys for giving these info.. this sounds good as I cant handle a heavy clutch due to injuries from previous accident.

still really new to the bike and no one around me is riding a ducati.

How much would such slave cylinder cost (est.)?
