maybe u can check ard ur area to see if he really does exist in real life. if not then i think you should at least make some offerings to give thanks bah. whatever the uncle is, his appearance there might have adverted something bad then ur spocket exploded. just my 2 cents :)

ya, intend to do go down temple give offerings..

anyw, as i watched the mech change a new set of sprocket, + the 4 bolts that hold it in place, i cant help but wonder y did it exploded at all... chain break still can unds, sprocket exploded, zZ... ...

yeap every one now seems to like to have that 0.1 sec head start ..

example...

once green light u see bikes , zoom to turn right...

pedesterian haven reach the other lane the cars zoom past in front of them ...

ya, saw a sp doing that while there was a r1 on the opposite lane. heng the r1der had a cool head and never wheelie qiong into the sp rider face - confirm enough time to do that..

I have never heard of a sprocket exploding? At least not on a 2B "sports commuter". Material failure from overstress is very rare on these parts (more likely abused chain will break first).

Unless there were already /fractures within the sprocket's metal which points to manufacturing issues.

today while on my way to school, 1 p plate wave cut swerved into my lane suddenly without checking blindspot. He knocked into this poor uncle riding just infront of me. Uncle fell but escaped unhurt, that guy fell after he has jammed his brake after finding out that he has caused someone to fall. While i was helping the uncle pick up the items dropped out from his box, another car ran over the uncle's fallen bike without realising that the front of the bike is under his car. What a lousy start to the day for that uncle man, thank god he's unhurt though

I saw another 'serving' of Malaysian bikes involved in accidents on the e-ways this morning again.

Light rain is actually more dangerous than heavy rain. Some riders don't know how slick the "almost dry looking" road surface is. Negative camber corner entry is another entertaining topic; suffice to say it's safer to take the outside line at a reduced speed.

frens all freaked out..

seems like many j-plate accidents today!

saw 2 jbikes and a car parked along sle shoulder, just after turn out from bke, 1 biker was furiously hurling words across to the driver and i noticed a dent on the car's rear right. both bikers alrite.

thereafter, JAM JAM JAM JAM JAM, so proceeded to join lane 1.5 along with 50 other riders, going relac jack when suddenly a jbike, about 4-5 bikes in front of me fell due to road slippery. lane 1 and 2 all ZHAM brakes, heng got buffer zone between us riders..

the rider was in shock and all other jbikers simply stop and STARE at him with blank face. -_-"' i figured he dun need cyclop's help and proceeded to stop by lane 1 (red car stopped in time behind him, in shock i presume) and help him carry his bike and everyone moved on.. he looked quite confused but i was in a rush so din do much thereafter..

Especially with the way those riders perform acrobatic maneuvers lanesplitting all the way. While sleepy, partially drunk, etc.

Yesterday evening - used my bike to do house moving. Set carb for maximum torque (due to need for hill climbs) and fun all the way :D

Today whilst riding , i wanna emphasize tat bikers NEVER haf the right of way. Whilst riding home with my partner oN PIE, we were riding in typical staggered formation. I was in front coz my bf wont trust me riding behind him. A car on our left suddenly signalled n change lanes when we are IN HIS WAY ! my bf ducked to th right to avoid d farker and thank goodness i was aware of what's happening coz i swerved away too and my bf was really real close to hitting me.

I was soooo furious. Turned and give him d sweet finger. Farker got d cheek to lane change to lane 1 , get in front of us. I anticipated tt he gonna jam on his brakes but he juz swerve to lane 3. Pfft. Wanted to follow him n confront him but he siam into bukit timah rd exit.

Inside his car got meimei. Surely wanna impress her. Wonder if he got d guts to ride a bike .... Tsk ..

Thank goodness me n partner reach our destination safe n sound.

Further down PIE , saw a car on shoulder. Maybe kna book for LED blue lites on his car. Obigoot ....

I knew certain traffic lights are super slow so I turn off the engine at the red light, sit in relaxed pose and disturb the cars and bikes beside me and make them lol :p

Disclaimer: Be sure to know the traffic light sequence before doing such silly things to cool off the engine / save 10ml of fuel.

Today while riding to work, cruising at 1st lane as the road was clear throughout. The lorry carrying LPG on the middle lane "twitching" and it seems to edging towards right. My distance between lorry and myself approximately less than 40m, so I tap my horn "sounding" my presence on 1st lane. Sadly the lorry kept edging out, (*not sure if he didn't check blindspot, sleeping or simply ignore me) I swerve to the lorry right and bypass him. (*gotta admit the distance between me and lorry on its right was rather close)

Afterwhich, I think back am I committing a mistake?

1) why don't I tap more brake and slow down?

2) why don't I filter to the left instead?

Actually I'm not too sure if I'm able to brake in time and avoid a collision. Secondly, swerve to the left suddenly would I cause inconvenience to others? I'm not trying to pin point mistake but trying to figure how can I avoid this.

Any views on the situation? :(

i faced this before. sometimes i brake and slow down, or sometimes i throttle and speed up then swerve away. No reason why i do so, i think it is just reflex.

but come to think of it, if i brake, it might not be enough, cause im riding a 2b bike, and i feel my brakes does not have much braking power. however if i throttle and speed up, my bike might not have enough power to get out of the 'sandwich' safely and quickly too.

often after that i will question myself why i never do the opposite, but after a few times i told myself to trust my instincts. hopefully i won't be wrong :thumb:

spoilt my day earlier today while on the way to work..

a short 7km ride can spoil your day by the following ways:

- heavy traffic on main roads heading towards the east of singapore

- lorry hogging 1st and 2nd lanes

- lorry filter from 1st to 2nd lane without signalling and checking of blindspot, and immune to horning!

damn! the bugger got so close and kept pushing his way into my way despite constant horning.. i had to knock knock his bloody passenger window with my hand to ask him wake up his idea.

brake more and slow down.. if the vehicle behind you is not paying attention, you may get rear-ended.. offending vehicle will usually don't bother to stop.

brake too much, you may induce a skid and fall. offending vehicle will usually not notice.

filter left abruptly, do you have enough time to do the necessary safety checks and signaling? split second decisions is required for this.

not say the best way, but it would be good to drop a gear and throttle up immediately. unless you are talking about on the expressway.. any 2b bikes will be able to throttle up faster than a car in short distance..

if all above fails, just brace for impact and claim the fella's insurance big time.

All in all good ideas, but I feel that so long you get out of the incident fine and without causing too much duress to other road users, it's a win-win situation for all.

In your situation, you barely had time to think, I wouldn't think its your fault having been caught in the same situation myself a couple of times, "Should I brake, throttle, go between lanes, or change lanes" and even though there were a couple of close shaves, as long as you get out of that situation without injury, in my honest opinion, you did the right thing.

Ride safe.

I will let my hair down and they instantly slow down :p

I will also tag along with the more steady drivers on the road. Play nice with them and they'll let you 'shadow' them from behind and that's very useful cover in FIBUA type situations during rush hour.

The challenge is to setup a "front cover" and a "rear cover" vehicle (who likes to follow you) and you have a mini motorcade for mutual protection! The only thing missing is of course, machine guns in the windows :p

Anyone who tries to cut into my lane is instantly counterattacked by the allied vehicles :p

Note: I do not follow other motorcycles; the only riding style I trust is mine.

hee. i do that too. Following a car with at least two cars length behind. I hate it when i lost my 'protection' and will always go find another one. hahaha. But i dont do that in the night as i noticed some drivers dont like being followed. Strange....
