hi erm i got a question how do we know that it time to turn to reserve for TA200 ? old model

When the bike starts to choke & sputter & lose power.

Practice switching the fuel knob while still coasting. You really don't wanna have to do a complete stop just to switch to reserve.

Hmm.. Just an enquiry, how do you know your idling is enough? I have adjusted my idling but I do not know whether it is over-adjusted.. Previously, I have difficulty starting my bike due to idling is too low..

Hmm.. Just an enquiry, how do you know your idling is enough? I have adjusted my idling but I do not know whether it is over-adjusted.. Previously, I have difficulty starting my bike due to idling is too low..

Experience. Start experimenting with the idling speed.

You will recognize the extremes at first.

Too low and the heartbeat of your engine is irregular and skips a few beats.

Too high and the engine sounds like a heart attack or machine gun.

Somewhere in between, you get a solid thumping beat. You can't miss it.

Word of caution: If you tune it too low, the bike may die off when you open throttle to move off from a stop. The little fuel you save doesn't pay for the inconvenience when it happens.

After you tune it, rev your engine a couple of times. If the idling is abnormally low, your bike will die off here. Pass this test and you're good to go.

Hope something here helps.

Hmm.. Another enquiry is that will increasing my idling speed indirectly increases my rate of acceleration? Coz after I have adjusted my idling speed, I feel that my acceleration actually increases. Hence, is higher idling = higher acceleration? Currently, my top speed is about 110km/hr on the bike meter.. Actual speed is about 100km/hr I think.. Y izzit that other bikers can get spped up to 130km/hr on a TA200?

I turned the knob by 1/2 of a turn and hit a "NEW" top speed of 110...increased from 100...but i still think its my wrist more then the increase of idling speed...felt a difference in the engine vibration though..

Half a turn on the throttle at a higher idling speed does let in more fuel/air then half a turn at a lower idling speed. However, the difference is almost too small to make a big difference.

The real deal for tweaking acceleration is the carb setting.

higher idling does not affect acceleration.

the idling knob is just a screw that adjust how much to "auto-throttle" the engine when u are not turning the throttle.

carb setting (a/f ratio) will affect the acceleration.

i think if u turn ur throttle all the way, can hit 130km/h lar... i'm not gonna try it though if i were u :p

new phantom rider here. just involved in an accident and my friend recommend me to go to i-motoring at bukit merah for repair services. my repair costs up to $1000+. parts spoil are

front brake, disc spoil

handle bar not straight

rear brake (stepping there bent)

fork need to be replaced because bent

fuel tank dented (need to cut a hole and knock back)

back tyre rim come out a bit (need to knock back)

need help to see if the price is around that range. thanks a lot.

I'm not entirely sure of the exact cost but 1000 seems rather steep. front brake disc is $45, handle bar can be bent back easily(replacing it will also not set you back by much). rear brake lever will cost ~ $20, front fork $330. no idea about the tank and rim but those do not sound like difficult jobs. so estimated $500-$600? this is based on the price list in another thread and your description of the damages to your bike.

more importantly though, are you injured?

should be about there like you mentioned I reckon

Yup.. me too.. I won't try it coz I dunno whether my engine can take it or not.. Play safe better.. I think my bike at 110km/hr already shows signs of unstability..

Another enquiry I would like to ask is do we need to change the fork oil at regular intervals? The reason why I'm asking is becoz I have clocked about 30,000km on my TA200 (new) which I bought it in 2006.. I do not know whether it's a psychological feeling, I feel my forks are getting "softer".. Meaning the fork tends to "dive" alot when stopping.. Does that mean we need a fork oil change?

I don't think its needed to change at regular intervals. But yours certainly sounds like it warrants an inspection & repair if necessary.

maybe u need a top up..if the seals are not leaking..but theye will leak with time..just check whheter your forks are oily???

a set of seal change will set u back by $65..

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

hi guys... if you encounter a situation where your brakes are still new, (plate and pad) but you are pressing further down just to get it cos you have used it for a continuous period, that might mean that your brakes are just too hot.

if you stop and look, you will see your brake disc being black or greyish.

happened to me when i used too much of my rear brake on the old route up to cameron on sat.

just let your brake cool down for some time and it'll be ok.
