bro, when you said smaller, you mean the diameter of the wheel is smaller? or is it the width? Iprefer thicker width to make the bike looks 'fuller' or more chunky!

both the diameter and the width...

Diameter decrease? Then the "increased top speed" may actually come from speedo error. Smaller wheel rotates faster for a given speed and your speedo sensor obviously doesnt know that so gives you more positive speed error.

Lower profile (width) does give smaller rolling resistance at the expense of cornering, etc. That's why some people think putting bicycle tyres on their KRR is shiok...

Not that anyone with sound knowledge of engineering would EVER do that.

Anyway, big wheels ftw. Must be fat like pillows :)

There was a Spark with bicycle tyres riding around Yishun Dam last SNM. He was carrying a pillion on a tyre so skinny it wobbled and flexed every time he braked, turned or accelerated. Those skinny tyres are not meant to carry such heavy load and when they do they deform significantly (weight of vehicle area remains the same, less width of contact patch = tyre deforms to take the load/pressure).

So at heavy loading the skinny tyre using the above extreme example, is less efficient than a fat one which is rated for a higher load at lower pressure and deforms less. Less deforming = less rolling resistance, less heat and go faster with longer tyre life :3

As the rear axle mounting bolt was towards the end of the green zone on my TA200. I decided to change the chain and front and rear sprockets. Genuine Honda parts. Will give the prices I paid here in Thailand in THB and SGD which is inclusive of labour, to give you some comparison. I also had the front brake pads changed.

Front Brake Pads 240 THB 10.3 SGD

"O" Ring Chain 2000 THB 88.40 SGD

Front Sprocket 190 THB 8.40 SGD

Rear Sprocket 550 THB 24.30 SGD

No difference in performance but the noise reduction from the transmission is considerable, I could barely hear the engine above the ssshshshsh of the transmission before, now all I can hear is the engine purring away contentedly. It is wonderful and another lesson learned, that transmission noise is not supposed to be there!! I guess we get complacent and accustomed to the racket that the bike is not supposed to be making.

Happy Trails

Bro what size spocket they gave u? the last time i ask a shop in hat yai was quoted for "O" ring rk 2000bht inclusive of spockets size 16 41. i didnt change but heard from ah koon front spocket 16 is impossible to fit... heavy duty made in thailand chain is 800baht...

Hi bros

I got the stock sprockets from my local Honda dealer and they are 13-41. I also have the same thinking Kalyan that the gearing isn't tall enough, I feel that there should be another higher gear after 6th. I wanted to go for a 42 or 43 rear but the dealer said no hab. I have heard that the Thai chains are pants DS2. 16 front wow that is quite a jump! The rear sprocket has 41 stamped on it.

I'm thinking a 15-39 can give me a bit more high speed/low rpm cruise ability without much problems.

Just have to accelerate more before an uphill stretch or use a lower gear. I don't really mind the reduced pickup as now I have too much pickup.

Which can be fun at traffic lights, thats why on further consultation with other PKs and the mechs at Planet , I decided to keep the sprocket ratios as they are until they're worn.

Does koon carry other kind of crash bar too n arga how much is it ya?

Didnt see any crashbars at Ah Koon.

Bought mine from Lim Ah Boy. I know Pink Phantom carry the more stylo ones (altho not sure if they have stock at the moment).

Give Ah Koon a call to check first: 6274-2265

Where is a good place to look at saddlebags or sideboxes? And where is ah koon? Anyone got exact address?

Ah Koon = Koon Motors at

Block 61 Lengkok Bahru

#01-454

Singapore 150061

Easiest is to enter via Leng Kee Road, then turn into Hoy Fatt road, then take first left and into the HDB car park.

No problem st_gtti. I bought saddlebags from him a few days back;

Small leather ones without studs. The good thing is that I didn't have to relocate my indicators to fit them ;)

Now all I need to do is take off the top box and get a higher sissy bar :)

New modification: super loud kanang guni horn - $6.50

It's way louder than the stock horn!!

To be absolutely honest, almost anything is louder than the stock horn isn't it ...:p

I recently changed to a Hella metal disc horn I got from LAB and the difference is massive. Now cars do hear me (even if they still don't care).
