There are quite a few bike/scooter models that are 250cc. Due to the current licence classification system, i feel that very few 250cc bikes are brought into sg market because 2A holders rather get a 400cc.

If class 2B can be reclassified to 250cc and below, those 2b holders(with no intention to upgrade) will have more choices. Best of all, it opens up the market for 250cc bikes....

After all, to most riders, bikes are used as a form of transport, so not a lot of riders choose to ride big cc bikes.

I don't think it's suitable for newbies to handle 250cc 2 stroke machines. Too much power for someone new on the road. :thumb:

so how abt newly passed drivers driving evo n rex.. can they handle as well? :goodluck:

once u see the power of rs250 and pgm , u will understand , pickup can win 400.. so u think newbies can handle .. racer wannabe bengs will buy and DIE very very fast...

maybe 4 stroke 250 like twisters still ok .... but 2 stroke 250 no way for newbies...

Ya... I overlooked the 2 stroke 250cc ones. But I am more concerned about the 4 strokes.

And I don't feel this will kill the 2A market cos there will always be 2A supporters out there. Just hope to see the change will bring more variety and choices for 2B bikers, especially for those who have absolutely no intention to upgrade further.

there is another thread on the revision of the class 2 license system.

moreover, class of license should be pegged to the horsepower of the vehicle rather than the capacity.

probably the same should be calculated for insurance premiums as well

Posted

In Australia, the licence system is pegged to the power-weight ratio of the machine, not the engine capacity.

Thats why the horribly underpowered Ducati 600cc machines are de-tuned even further to match the power-weight ratio of teh licence system. :thumb:

So perhaps the system can be changed to allow 250cc four stroke machines. Current 150cc two strokers are too fast for their own good already.

What bike to ride is definately up to each individual.

If you got a 2A and you wanna ride a 400cc, what bike are you going to ride if you got your Class 2? A Triumph Rocket III (~2300cc) or a Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 (2000cc)?

wat u guys said logically its correct lar.

but too tink deeply even now 2b bikes some pple might not able to handle it somemore if got mod. becos in singapore we start n we learn 2b lesson tats y we see tat 250cc bikes powerful. just take n eg. in singapore if all the while we r learning using a 70cc cub n permit to ride not more than 70cc bike for 2b n suddenly gave them ride rxz or sp or kips or tzm sure we tink tat these bikes r powerful.

IMHO it should, cos when you upgraded to 2A, normally ppl will ride a 400cc bike.

A bit off-topic:

In the front-page of SBF, this is what made me come to this thread:

I had opinions of disapproval ready at hand when aiyah...the title states Should class 2B be under 250cc?

Walao...scare the heck out of me.

IMO, why don't they shorten the waiting time for a graduated 2B to take his 2A. That way, people have 2 choices...To buy a 2B bike (probably those who want scooters/cubs),

or upon passing 2B, qualify and opt in for 2A training in half-a-month's time -- and passing it thereafter, buying his/her first bike allowed by the 2A licensing scheme?

Isn't that good? Lesser beng lacers on the road then..Ahaha..

Maybe for those above 25 or 26 then can get a 250cc bike for 2B? I think if one is mature enough..They'll think twice before exploitin the power with their capability to handle the power/bike..They will (hopefully) ride within their capabilities..

2B shld be raise to 250cc.. 2A to 500cc.. but for 4 strokes only..

for 2 strokeres,

2B shld be lowered to 135cc (rxz), 2A to 250cc

afterall, it's abt power output.. not capacity.. it's a loophole in e policy..

most high speed fatal accidents happen to 2B 2 strokers or class 2 superbikes right? and the former haf bikes tt haf power beyond their capability.. not in controlling the bike but in controlling their need for speed..

Everyone was a noob sumtimes.. and i'm one NOW
