CBRs are not that much older n a whole lot cheaper.. it looks more solemn n harsh..

Tried Both......Own Both!!!!!!

RVF reliable........cos newer

but LOVE is still CBR...but find good condition one......me repair till pocket broke but still loving it!!!!!!!!!!

From what I heard, I think the CBR has been a good overall bike.

Its power and reliability is also there :D

I would go for the RVF because it has new technology and because the cutting looks nicer than the CBR :p Just my opinion

anyone can guide me where RVF is better or CBR400...i personally think that RVF is expensive and yet CBR400 is quite cheap on market price but its quite problematic...help me please =]

IMO, it's pretty hard to describe. It's like deciding upon an apple from the orchards of Japan, or a simple Chinese-grown apple.

Everyone usually suggests getting what you like - me included, so it usually boils down to that from the individual's perspective.

bear in mind to consider whether the sitting posture suits you or not. i have friends who buy a bike capable of high speed and good cornering at a higher limit but get back aches everytime he rides, in fact such complains come hand in hand when he starts complimenting his bike. don't think anyone would want to ride a bike that he cant ride with comfort. jsut my 2 cents worth

Not me.

I rode, i ached on, spent enormous amounts of cash on, but enjoyed every bit of my roaring V4 to be able to forget all of the inconveniences and pain that I've experienced on this bike. Nuff said ;)

Between Cbr and RVf, cbr is more suitable if u r not a tall lady as the sitting posture is slightly lower. However if you are looking for comfortable up right posture, then cb400 should be the choice. But a lady on sportbike is alsway a more head turner then on a cb400 ;)

Well, you kinda answered your question right there dude. Scrambler = tall-riding bike whereas sportbike = crouched racing-like position.

Just as long as your body dimensions aren't to the extreme that riding a sportbike will cause extreme strain, you can go with what you desire.

hi there, just got my rvf. previously facing same problem as you. in the end i opt for the rvf, didn't regret it at all. nice bike, good power from v4 engine. personally i get it because it is newer compared to cbr 400, then cbr quite long liao, some of the part may be worn out by the time you got it. but so far my rvf ride feeling is very nice. never regret it. if you ever come across a good rvf and at a cheap price then take it. i got mine at 5800 machine price.

well first of all cbr and rvf both r ard the same age... cbr is not any much older den rvf... and tok abt pick up... cbr also wun lose to rvf much... same for rvf... top end also not losin to cbr much... both r powerful bikes... i wld say... but rvf parts r way more expensive compared to cbr... wif tt kind of $$ i wld rather use it to go for a claz 2 bike which is much beta den both bikes isn it?? rvf mostly haf to go for installments which end up payin more for the bike... might as well go for cbr???

its been so long...

ermm...

if u haven tried an rvf n a cbr by urself.. u will not know the great difference in both their engines...

one is a V4, where another is juz a inline 4...

V4, due to its irregular firing rate. has a better pick up (comparing stock or with legal end can, n a constant same rider)

rvf gives u the Boomz... while cbr is only a smooth delivery power..

talking about top speed.. i'm not sure cbr can go ard how high...

but my ex rvf can hit 214 with only legal endcan. (clocked by R1 06), with a 90+kg rider on it in NSHW.

talking abt winning top speed, also depends on how fast the bike can reach its top..

Rvf, famous for its power band, accelerates fast when going 120-170+... n the pickup is considered quite good in its class..

CBR, the smooth acceleration can only up at the constant speed limit due to its inline4 engine..

here comes the lastpart, if 2 same riders with the same talents. Ride off at the same timing, at a fixed distance (say 20 lamp post).

rvf, with the faster pickup n the faster bike to reach top end, will be winning while cbr is going off till its top over the speed of rvf in order to catch up with the rvf.

juz my 2cents only..

Suck it n ride!

RVF HANDS DOWN MAN!

it's so unique and it comes with serious juice.

It's not about the power or speed or how fast your ride goes but the time & effort spent to achieve something different

My Toys:

Harley XR1200

CB400-V-tec III (served me well )

Streetfighter S ( never felt better! )

Whew...that's quite a lot of information on your insight on the RVF there dude.

:btw: The positioning of the pistons on the RVF are in a "V" shape. There are 4 pistons in total (two pointed to the front, the other two pointed to the rear. This is why the RVF is nicknamed the "V4" bike. There's nothing to do about irregular firing rate though...It's the '09 R1 that has this technology for now.

Number of pistons aside, in layman terms a "V" arranged engine gives the bike a natural jump in pickup power because you've got pistons arranged opposite each other "pushing" the single rod called the "crankshaft", making it spin and gives the bike the almost-final spinning power to the wheels.

(of course, there's the clutch, the gear sprockets, chain too, but I left those out for simplicity's sake)

Now compare the "pushing" power of an inline-4 (all 4 pistons facing the same direction). Without any fancy mods, the pickup is only gradual, not like the "oomph" that craz_03 described.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I based my answers on technical knowledge ;)

whereas rvf when i rode it.. it has the boomz in pickup.. =))

( this is wat i describe after trying tec's cbr n my bro's super4 )

the midrange power which comes on is kinda different to my rvf also...

heehee

Suck it n ride!

RVF for me.

1. Outlook is nicer. The fairings, air duct etc.

2. Parts eg. inverted fork, proarm, xhuast on the left.

3. Price is affordable for me. CBR? Dun mention....

Top speed etc - This is SG, what you expect.

Price - Wana hav a cheap/gd 2A, go for CBR. If got xtra cash..RVF.

Ride Safe.
