Heading to UM tomorrow early morning, to check my electricals once again, change tyres and may be wheel bearings and find out what is the cause of lack of power, is it worn out clutch plates or something else.

 

I believe compression test is used to determine the condition of engine. Does UM offer compression test?

 

If they do let us know please: I've been trying at 10k km to get it done but couldn't even get anything back but a vague nod when I talked about it...

Mother of Fuel efficiency

 

It can run on 1 full tank perpetually, if you dismount and push it. But it can do 0-60 in 3.61 secs and 0-100 in less than 10 secs.

 

They really need to diversify and create a bike for the power / speed hungry.

Bad news.. my diaphragm is wet.. that is 10k after I installed ported slider.. I am really suey (unlucky)..

ported slider will reduce the chances of wet diaphragm...

but not prevent it...

not leaked but its natural for the air fuel mixtures to enter through the vauum area .. reason why correct AFR is very important

 

 

diaphrgm damaged cos fuel petrol is not friendly with natural rubber material when in contact

But what does the diaphragm separate exactly ? The mixture air-fuel from the combustion chamber ? because i thought it was there just to help manage the air pression to allow the fuel movement, hence should never get touched by the fuel.

Just came back from UM. The reason for the lack of power was the diaphragm. It had become hard like a plastic cup Got it changed and also the carb cleaned and now the bike feels much better.

Todays damage:

diaphragm - 20$

damper coupling - 10$

Breather pipe tube -3$

intake pipe oring -2$

air filter - 8.50$

clutch torsion spring - 2.50$

 

Weld exhaust pipe - 22$

service carb - 18$

Seat rewrap - 40$

 

Total damage about 130$

 

Now my bike is in decent ridable condition, not yet top notch, but good enough.

Found this video that explains very clearly how the carb works and what the diaphragm does.

So unless I am missing something here, the diaphragm does not get in contact with fuel. Instead it probably gets solid and cracked and hard, because it gets too dry with temperature + air.

So if the diaphragm gets wet, that's an indication that something is wrong - let me know your thoughts, it's gonna bother me if I don't get this

Does anybody have the stock mirrors for sale? I got yamaha rxz/ybr mirrors from Ah boy, but they are small and dont extend outwards enough

Looks like the bike is indeed getting better and better Do you still want photos of my clutch plates ? I took some yesterday.

They have noticeable but very shallow scurf marks, but I do not know how good they can be - but then again they might be an improvement on yours.

However, if you have to pay the price for labor and opening the engine, it might be just as well to get new plates. Let me know

So if I'm not mistaken, these are the things we can't do on the maintenance list:

- check compression pressure

- check gas pressure

 

Anyone here ever done the "cylinder head de-carbonising and valve lapping" ? It's supposed to be done every 30k, what is it exactly ?

Thanks. But thats ok. At the moment the clutch plates seem ok. Although they are worn, so is the timing chain and maybe some other parts, so when the time comes I will get everything changed together. But I guess, this bike is good for the next 10k kms, and since I live in Tampines and work at changi business park, I wont be doing a lot of riding.

BTW, I saw greatmole's bike with its new Indian owner at UM. such a small world.

 

How did I recognise its greatmole's bike? I have never seen him or his bike before. Its because he had described before that his tank paint had faded

Typical Indian that he is(We Indians are mostly cost concious, you must have know that by now, by the kind of fuel efficient bikes we make ), he said he is going to get a tank bra from India for cheap to cover the faded area
