Or we all can make silent protest at PG. Everyone rolls out to PG, pays the RM5 entrance fee but keep off the track. This goes on for one month until both trackies and PG officials cannot tahan.

Or Maybe PG will then move 50km away from the border aka new PG track.

PG move 50km away?????? present one is far enough...haha...but built a new track oklah.....or at least re-new the tarmac....heheh....or wat they call it?? re-layer??? hehe...dunno lah

and they shd also ban the monkeys, lizards, pigs and all other animalz from entering the track....heheh...sorry go off topic for a while.

If this ban were to encompass and be hard-applied to bikes, I'm hoping petrol stations near Pasir Gudang will at least give us a one-off exception...that is, at least a cap on how much petrol we can put into our tank, but will be more than enough for the journey back to SG customs.

Why the sudden ban for foreign (mostly sg) vehicles? Is it because of the Pedra Branca issue? If it is... It's so childish...

The news also states that it is a temporary plan... but seriously how long will temp measures take to change...

Although the ban will not affect me as I don't really pump at JB, the decision taken by our neighbors are simply too harsh....

And I don't understand how can Malaysia suffer loss when more and more sg cars pump at their station? Can some kind soul explain ?

So for bikes, are we still in the subsidised rate or do we have to purchase at a higher rate? Actually, Don't really mind paying abit more as long as i can still enjoy the track with petrol.

Abstracted from Channelnewsasia http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/350723/1/.html

KUALA LUMPUR - Owners of foreign-registered vehicles will have to pay more for petrol in Malaysia under a plan to curb spiralling fuel subsidies, reports said Thursday.

Second Finance Minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the measure was part of a fuel subsidy reform plan to be announced before the 2009 national budget, which is expected to be presented to parliament in September.

The government earlier this week announced an interim measure banning petrol stations near the borders with Thailand and Singapore from selling fuel to foreign-registered vehicles.

The new initiative to permit sales to foreigners, but at a non-subsidised price, is likely to be approved at a Cabinet meeting on Friday, the official news agency Bernama reported.

Despite dismay over the plans from tourism operators who rely on business from Singaporeans and Thais who make trips to shop and refuel in Malaysia, Nor Yakcop insisted the industry would not suffer.

"No it wouldn't. Tourists who come in, they can certainly buy (petrol) in non-border towns ... there is no problem but in the border towns ... there has been absolute misuse by people along the border who come and buy and go off to sell back (the petrol) to their country," he told Bernama.

"Why should we give subsidies to foreign smugglers," he added.

The move is an attempt to minimise fuel subsidies which is expected to cost Malaysia 45 billion ringgit this year based on an oil price of US$120 per barrel.

"Foreigners will definitely have to pay the full price when we make the announcement and (when we) enforce it immediately," Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said in The Star daily Thursday. - AFP/ir

Woo hoo! There seems to be some hope! According to reports, Singaporean drivers seeking to buy petrol & diesel across the causeway, will be spared from the ban for the sale of petrol to foreigners - at least for one week. The Malaysian govenment have decided to monitor the ban, which starts on Monday in the Northern States, before implementing it in JB on June 9. Reports have also mentioned that motorcyclists will not be affected by this ban.

The initial ban stated that it would only prevent foreign registered vehicles from buying subsidised petrol & diesel within 50 km of Malaysian borders. But this does not prevent these vehicles from buying non-subsidised petrol outside the 50 km zone. The unsubsidised rates of petrol have yet to be confirmed. Lets cross our fingers to hope for good news in the days to come.
