Dun worry without a air filter wont damage ur bike.... took out my air filter since i bought my bike been riding 1 & half years still going smoothly with regular carb service...

Which shop u did it at?

So, u changed a new block, new piston and overhaul yr engine?

for us, yes, 428 chain.

normal chain cost less then 50 bucks plus spocket.

how new is your sprocket?? its better to change both at the same time..
