the engine braking feel is not tat harsh on highest gear compared wif lower gears, meaning not tat much engine brake feel.

 

get a mechanic to check the throttle cable

1) i am very sorry that i so long "got eyes yet no recognize Mt.Tai "...i only just managed to successfully clicked on to the "here" in your signature. Looks like you are the REAL "SIFU" ( expert master ) that know a lot about bikes. so much TREASURE INFO there. You got so many bikes ah? Your info on DR-Z ( drool! ) makes me want to get 2a leh in case i win lottery to afford it but then again seat height a bit high , i may be too short.

 

2) modifications so useful ah? looks like i have to eat humble pie & eat my words, i am sorry for my ignorance as i seldom mod.

 

3) my KR bike has a Michelin 90/80 front tyre ( previous owner ) & a BT-39 110/70 rear ( i changed the rear as it was botak when i bought it ). Not exactly ideal, right? but i did not know anything back then. tyres have been unchanged for 3 & half months ( 5200+km now ). So Michelin cannot "tong" more than 1 month ??? ( even the front? ). So do i need to change my front tyre?

however just to share my own personal opinion ( no disrespect to you of course )...

 

Normal daily transport riding = MOST DANGEROUS. Tran-sport = DANGEROUS-sport !

 

i have read news reports on young men / old men who are slow careful riders who don't race get themselves killed on the road. ( recently a guy got killed in Yishun? read somewhere here that someone got killed on a Goldwing while touring in Thailand? i forgot )

 

the track is a safer place than the roads with less "hazards" common on the roads:-

 

road kerbs, lamp-posts, trees, signposts, bus stops, bollards, etc...

 

oil / sand spills, construction works, heavy vehicles parked for works etc...

 

poor drivers, unfocused ( talking or tired ) drivers, Tiredness & fatigue after work ( have been guilty of that myself in the past ), drunk drivers, F1 wannabes ( almost got killed recently by 1 Mercedes driver trying out "drifting" & "F1" skills )...speeding heavy vehicles who might spill something on the road suddenly...

 

clueless jay-walkers ( who don't even look in the direction of traffic ), "no-rules" cyclists, dogs/cats, old folks who suddenly stopped mid-way, careless small kids running onto the road to pick up their football etc...

 

bad weather, bad tyres or brakes ( guilty of that in the past too when i was too busy & forgot to change them ), "easily scared" drivers that jam brakes for no apparent reason, impatient "last minute" lane switching drivers, "bo-chap" drivers at night that ignore red-lights at junctions, & other people "accident" just ahead of you etc...

 

& countless other minor things which made the ROADS DANGEROUS. Furthermore, most of us have to do it everyday which increases our chances of an occasional ( but could be fatal ) mistake. in addition, most of don't wear full racing gear ( body suit, air jackets, knee pads, etc ) when we do our daily commuting.

 

if i am slow in "racing" or on a track, at most i will just get laughed at for being a slow tortoise.

 

However if one is TOO SLOW IN RESPONSE in daily commuting for just 1 day, it will minimum hurt you somewhere ( hopefully minor bruises & not life or limb )

 

i was just a daily commuter for many years that "bo-chap" about bikes or racing, a slow rider with a slow bike & trying to be safe & still got minor hurt occasionally.

 

i recently realise ( edit: only realise all these after riding KR, this bike taught me a lot even though i am no newbie ) that the daily roads are actually very demanding & we should get the best & safest techniques, tactics, bikes, alertness & physical / mental / emotional condition when "just commuting". my new bike gave me more confidence & SAFETY than the other bikes ( all 2b ) i have tried before.

Bro,like I advised u before,its better to have a matching tires cos it will have much effects on cornering and balance.

agreed.. alot of people find it expensive.. *other den uncles like me.. because age is there.. NCD is there..
