saw a recent ad a few weeks ago...2007 Daihatsu Hijet van costs $500 monthly installment. factor in your season parking ( $75 open car-park, $90 multi-storey ). road tax, insurance, service / maintain / ...be prepared to set aside at least > $700 monthly excluding petrol.

 

FC on even a small car / van is same as class 2 ( however YOUR FC now also almost same lah ).

Costs of tyres / brakes / repairs dun even know how much...but should be even more expensive than most class 2 bikes.

 

Chao chao ( steady steady ) also at least $1k / mth maybe even more...after that must renew COE time, even more $$$ fly...car COE prices are now around $40k...so then how? go rob bank? must call me leh. i also want to rob bank liao

 

just stick to 2b enough...if health problem then take BMW ( Bus / MRT / Walk ) lor.

 

i tell you i already planning to use bicycle in case i need to sell my bike...i am serious. be prepared

maybe I should explain myself.. I have 2k+ to pay coe anytime.. BUT that's all my saving is.. (estimated) so.. my conclusion is either I down a car and pay installment.. OR renew COE and continue riding..

Of cuz.. I'll buy a car that's left with 5 years of COE... monthly installment same as a CL2 bike.. lolx..

 

Of cuz.. If I out a car.. my gf will contribute to the car together with me.. that makes a huge diff..

why honda, yamaha, toyota, suzuki, all so stupid to waste so much metal to make car / bike, print toilet paper can make more money ( now toilet paper costs more than the car ??? where in the world leh! ) toyota / honda directors can only LL & bang their b***s! hahaha

Valve can open in any gear I think. So RPM 9 in gear 4 or 5 should be quite safe but of course must be confident enough

 

tried, very "rough & loud" leh in the lower gears.

you no need to buy brand new of course, can always buy 2nd hand but by the time you finish your car loan ( if you are so rich to no need loan, i got nothing to say )...in 3~5 years whatever, you need to renew COE. so back to square root of 1.

 

Renew COE price is the average of past 3 months new COE prices...so $ around there, should not be too different unless very swinging market.

 

of course you can avoid that by changing car, sell your old car ( with value greatly depreciated ) & buy another old car & take loan all over again ( any money from your previous car can only offset the down-payment ) so effectively you are GETTING INTO DEBT ALL OVER AGAIN.

 

my idea is buy car only when your TOTAL Costs of ownership ( everything = installment, tax, insurance, petrol, parking, service etc ) is only 20% of your "disposable" ( cash at hand ) income, remember that is also "housing" costs ( experts say less than 1/3, i say 1/4 ). i figure unless your pay is above $5k or your company subsidize ( if you have a sales jobs )...forget it.

 

buy a class 2 only when you can afford car. Class 2 is expensive but still cheaper than car. So if you are rich enough to buy car but chose to buy class 2 instead, you still save some $$.

 

buy a 2a only when you can afford class 2...buy a 2b only when you can afford 2a. buy old & 2nd hand whenever possible unless you are so financially comfortable to afford a bigger class bike. eg. if you can afford a brand new 2a, then go buy brand new 2b. when you can afford brand new 2b, buy a cheap 2b. can buy cheap 2b, go buy 2nd hand instead...still cannot afford...go the kup chai route or even bicycle ( if you are young & fit buy a fast bicycle, if you are old & fat, buy a slower bicycle )

 

ADD: that is why now Mercs / BMW are the top seller in sg, no more Jap brands, it is the luxury European cars...

"Loud" I understand. Most if not all bikes should be loud when high revving mah haha. My bike isn't rough leh or maybe u just not used to it. Sounds rough or feel rough ( as in jerk* jerk* cough* cough*)?

Today I encounter a super duper nice ducati rider.. he can "eat" me easily.. but.. he choose not to lane spilt, choose to hang behind a car and etc.. of cuz.. I'm in a rush.. thus need to overtake him.. *slowly.. not high rev..

 

Another CBR600 rider I encounter last night.. Turn right lane.. I'm waiting for green light with my gf.. He rev behind me while red light is on.. den overtake close from left and high.. WHAT'S THE POINT? 600cc eat 150cc? some more, I with box plus gf.. No gf.. I'll die hard chase one lor..
