I seriously doubt that they would do that. Its very easy to detect tampering: just apply the noise and emission test. If it fails, it fails. Do not pass go and do not collect $500

If they decide to seal the pipe, with the seal unbroken, but the pipe fails noise testing. What then? Does the owner get the benefit of the doubt. Probably not right, so defeats the entire purpose

Anyway as of about 2 months back, no such ruling when i sent my pipes for inspection in case anyone wondering

rockoil> pipes are louder than stock but not really roaring...cuz they're legal lol

But regarding the seal on the pipe,i have seen it. a fren of mine riding a rsv4 bought a leovince exhaust. The endcan is attached with a seal to the catalyzer.

Hmm that's pretty interesting. I hope though that less budget will be channelled into on-road enforcement as a result of this

Hi all, I recently encountered an issue with my clutch and was hoping some of the gurus here might be able to help.

My bike lurches forward when I engage first gear from neutral and stalls, as if the clutch was not disengaged fully. It recently developed the problem after i washed the bike with a strong jet (I may have jetted the open clutch in the process). I started the bike to clear all the water about an hour later, rode it around my estate and everything worked as per normal. This problem only happened when I tried to use the bike last night.

My bike actually displayed the same problem right when I was collecting it from Minerva last month, but they fixed it and I was able to do just over 1000km without any issues until last night.

I've since towed the bike to Minerva and am waiting for the prognosis, but I'm curious as to whether my washing could be the cause?

Usually I wash the bike with a cloth and pail but it was pretty damn dirty so I blasted the entire bike with a hose. If it's of any concern my clutch plates are new, clutch basket is new and springs are new.

Appreciate any light you gurus can shed on the matter

Hi Stoned,

Me no gurus here, but my guess is maybe your side stand safety switch faulty or sticky.

Else it will be air trapped in your clutch line. Causing the clutch to not fully disengage when you pull the lever.

I read before that the OEM clutch slave do have cases of leakage and these leakage are slow leak. It could be the seal or the banjo.

So maybe when you first gotten your bike, air was trap, sent to mineva and they bleed for you. Having the leakage still there but slow, there is why you got your 2nd episode.

I also read some cases where after using the aftermarket slave causes the clutch to not fully disenegage due to the stroke differences.

Just some thoughts here but wait for the gurus ba.....

An extremely educated guess would lead me to say that all these problems WILL go away once you....

But on a serious note, I think rockoil's 2 points regarding the clutch line air issue, and the kickstand sensor wiring are probably the two prime suspects. Hopefuly you get some feedback soon on your bike from Minerva. Sometimes the obvious possible causes (i.e. Washing) are not the antagonists (water) of the effects. I've thrown full buckets of water on my engine block from the side to rinse off soap in all crevices, rather than using the water+towel combo (saves time). I just ensure that i dont get an influx of water around the key guard area (to avoid/prevent the infamous immobilizer error) - and my bike's fine. :)

Bikes are built to be rode in the rain, snow, all kinds of weather. I'm sure a little water jetting wouldn't cause much harm.

My 2 cents. Let's wait for the gurus.

Class 3 = 02/07/2002

Class 2B = 24/04/2008

Class 2A = 22/12/2009

Class 2 = 10/02/2011

As mentioned by the other bros. But u should also check the clutch plates. After washing, usually the plates will stick to 1 another giving u the feeling that there is no clutch.

OEM clutch slaves tend to leak. U just need to look for dirt build up at the bottom of the clutch slave. Or if u unscrew the clutch slave, if u see dirt buildup behind, its a clear indication of leak.

If ur clutch fluids are also too brown/black, might as well take the chance to bleed it thru as it will affect the performance of the clutch.

I'm not too sure abt the newer bikes but the older goldline and black versions of the goldline master brake and clutch pumps have had issues of the seals not holding up so air gets in. I personally experienced it.

Hey thanks guys for the help but it seems dodobird had the right answer! The clutch plates were stuck together after the washing and according to Zul at Minerva this can happen after riding in heavy rain as well. Thankfully the rest of the stuff is fine and the labour is only $18.

So, moral of the story, don't anyhow jet your open clutch to wash it. Use a damp cloth.

Tomorrow when I go down to collect the bike I'll check out the clutch slave for leakage. It's my next planned upgrade anyway. Thanks guys

Hmmm the cons of a ducati I suppose?

No meet ups anytime soon?

It's not about the power or speed or how fast your ride goes but the time & effort spent to achieve something different
