Seriously, is V4 engine that good?

Compare RVF and CBR 400..

The RVF if de-restricted..can leave the CBR 400 behind from start to finish..trust me, I know!! :thumb:

Dats juz on acceleration point only..

I can't help but say that this is an ironic understatement  :thumb:

In theory, a V-arranged engine have this natural pickup ability compared to an inline-arranged engine of the same CC and same piston shape, etc....

With regards to this post, I actually should be asking this question: Are litrebikes good for track? I haven't ridden these kinds of bikes personally and i've got the impression that they have far too much power; or maybe it's the power that begets (and champions up) a riders skill? Inputs welcome :)

At 1st they wanted to build V5 but decided to V4 ...V5 engine will go to VFR but the engine size is 1200cc(correct me if i'm wrong)

If the they made V5 into superbike, then then they will call it VTR SP3..SO far Big H have not decided yet which is which

Can the thread starter or somebody post the source of this news that Honda will be launching a CBR1000 V4 configuration for the commercial market?

We have heard this "news" for years and years. Otherwise, this may just be another of the "news".

True, V4 have a better low and mid range compare to inline4 but no top end. It something like a best of both world, V twin + inline 4, but master of none. I have tried a thumper, vtwin, v4 and inline4 engine before. Seriously, I will still go for inline4. But that is just my opinion. Upz for those V4 lover.

And seriously I doubt they are going to release the V4 yet cause they are suffering a huge lost now.

To most layman, we may not feel the difference in V4 versus inline4, other than the engine sound.

While a V4 lowers the CoG slightly compared to a inline4, the main difference is the way the firing intervals are spread in a V4 as compared to an inline4. And this V4 firing interval maximises tyre grip better. Better tyre grip/traction means the rider can apply more horsepower to max speed without falling/sliding.

This grip capability can be replicated in inline4s as well by duplicating the firing order. So you see that in Yamaha's M1 as well--and now in production R1 2009 :)

Yup. Read up on the article on the new Cross plane technology. Seems awesome. But I always suspect the top end will suffer and apperantely it does, as shown on the dyno machine on my friend 09 R1. I'm a street person, not a track person, so to me, a inline 4 will suit me better. Beside I prefer the scream of the inline4.

LS, got any short trip? I am yearning for one!!

Oh. Finally? After all these years of rumours? V4 Fireblade, V5 Fireblade, 1200 VFR...still nothing.

Maybe the impact of the RSV4 has woken them up, maybe.

But i doubt it.

Yup, heard it crusied by. The sound is sweet. V engine always makes a nice bassy sound at the low end. But when it at the mid and top end, the sound is very flat.
