this only happens when you pump too much fuel into your tank... it should not be to the brim and should not exceed the neck of the fuel opening...

another possible reason is the rubber seal of the fuel cap is damaged...

Juz woundering if anyone here ever have problems when it rains, where the bike enging will stall, but you can counter it by trotteling more.. any advice

Your spark plug may be loosen, allowing water to go in. Throttling causes hot air to blow out of the gaps, blowing / drying out the rain water.

Either tighten the spark plug or change it.

Hmm, recently my ta200 feels very weak. Seemed like my lower gears doesnt have enough power or something ..

It seemed as though I'm reving very hard to get a certain speed. Is there anyway to tune my performance better? (nooblet to technical tuning and such)

On a side note, is it possible to "tune up" our speed range?

Example,

Current : (G1 = gear 1)

G1 - 0 - 10km/h

G2 - 10 - 20km/h

G3 - 20 - 30km/h

G4 - 30 - 40km/h

G5 - 40 - 50km/h

G6 - 50km/h and above

Sometimes I feel I'm dragging the engine alot and in the long run will it make my 6th gear suffer or spoil faster?

Are we able to increase the range of the gears (mainly for 3rd 4th and 5th gear)

So for example, I would be able to pull till 70 - 80 at gear 5 before going up to 6.

Secondly because I find the default engine too loud at our daily commuting speed.

In summary, something like tuning to having higher speed without higher rev.

Hope kakis here can understand my nooblet explaination =X

Thanks

Carb issue.

You will lose up to 30% horsepower and torque if the carburettor is set wrong. Your description sounds like a lean condition. I can detail the steps to diagnose the power issue via PM or I can sort it out in real life in about 5-10 minutes. Take your pick :3

As for performance.... there's LOTs to improve.

I am suspecting that your clutch plates are worn... lets say you are in gear 3 at half throttle... if you open the throttle all the way abruptly would you hear that the engine's rpm shoots up very fast while there is hardly any change in your moving speed?

and on a side note... with regards to

G1 - 0 - 10km/h

G2 - 10 - 20km/h

G3 - 20 - 30km/h

G4 - 30 - 40km/h

G5 - 40 - 50km/h

G6 - 50km/h and above

I use my gear 5 up to maybe 80km/h on the meter before going to gear 6...

hi, recently i encounter a problem with my TA200 phantom, it was raining and all of a sudden my engine just starts stalling, even when the throttle is applied. So i stopped my bike and it becomes very hard to start it, the RPM of the engine also fluctuate...(drop in RPM then up all of a sudden & down again.) Can anyone enlighten me on this problem, thanks.

raining? there is a good chance that your spark plug cap (the "L" shaped thing that connects your ignition coil power cable to the spark plug) is getting spoilt... over time rain water would slowly sip in and cause the electricity to the spark plug to be cut off... you can confirm this by letting the engine idle and pour a pail of water onto the spark plug area, and see if the engine dies off. if it does its just a simple replacement

a more remote possibility is that your air filter needs to be replaced because it is choked...

Anyone can advise me on this :-

Bike runs smooth at every gear- coming to a stop- clutch in- "BANG!!" backfired- my left ball almost dropped.

Went planet clinic- changed EO spark plug-changed 2nd hand exhaust(previous beyond repair as so many holes), air breather(this carb looking thing under tank front side)- runs smooth and Voila! problem solved!

Happy happy ride home- entering carpark- clutched in- "BANG!!" both balls dropped : (

Any kind souls here care to share or give advise?

(btw, both balls already re-installed)

Love the way you told your story =P

backfire is caused by either

A) Carbon in the exhaust

B) Incomplete combustion leading to the fuel and air combusting in the exhaust

do correct me if i'm wrong.

Since your exhaust is cleaned out, and since it only happened as you entered at slow speed and clutched in, I am speculating (guessing) that there overly rich mixture?

it is normal for the phantom to backfire... if the backfire only happens when you have closed the throttle, that means your idling fuel air mixture is a little rich... but a little rich is good, it helps lower engine temperature

if you are really particular about the backfiring, you can go back to planet and ask ah chong to tune your idling mixture a little leaner... :thirsty:

LOL I have to agree. The little 'burbling' effect when engine braking is so cool. Like a rally car!

I will teach you to self-diagnose and self-adjust the carburettor. The theory behind it has been around since the 1900s, indeed no liability :D

He found his prob, his spark plug was LOSE! Half the plug's thread were exposed and the spark plug is shaky. Tightened it and all is ok already. Thanks guys for the help.
