while on this topic, is anyone recently doing heat wrap on their exhaust...or using the aluminum foil for it?

both way do the same thing. but the alu foil will degrade over a few months (mine is still ok since April, while the exhaust wrap will probably discolour only.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Just sharing to those who plan to do it.

Dont wrap it with aluminum foil. It looks unsightly. A wrap mod will cost you about

Measure your pipe diameter(i did it with a $5 note) and get hose clamps from homely nearby ; about 80c each. Much cheaper compared to $8 each for a ss cable tie. Doesnt discolour much. Wont degrade much if you dont disturb it. F.y.i. For that 30+ on the short roll, you may even be able to wrap two exhaust if you do it sparingly. Spray painting it black works too.

Have fun and dont forget to use gloves.

Cheers and have fun

Yours sincerely

I do it for cosmetic reasons. Not so much so that you can feel the difference and pin point it to the wraps. It looks good and has its technology behind it. Good excuse to get it if your pipes are rusty to begin with. hahaha

Tong aik(do a search) PJ1 high temp spray at $17.50. I used a mixture of this and a nippon glossy black(

Yo Phantom Riders!!

New Phantom Rider here :D.

Just wondering, which bikeshop can help to raise the phantom tank?

I think you should just extend the front fork. The tank will automatically raise.

Hey Guys

I seen some tricked out phantoms on the road and I'm on board of the idea of pimping it too.

I have a few questions towards both mechanical and aesthetical, hope experienced peers here are willing to share with me.

I'm keen towards the Rat/Cafe minimum, low down and poised styling, over the huge cruiser approach where I wish to celebrate the small cc phantom as it is.

I am still using this bike as a practical transport mean, keeping the large tank and seat.

Front fender: What did you used? I did some measurements, I thought the RX-k's metal front fender closest fit less the width which is slightly shorter compared to the stock phantom's.

Rear fender :I would like to use the 2 piece metal/plastic GN125/CM125 rear fender. What did you use and was the fitment easy/cost?

Tail lamps: I have no clue where to get a proper tail piece, any recommendation?

Handle bar and clamps: I'm aiming for a straight bar and high risers, just need a price check, who can i go to locally?

Shock: This is more for mechanical and comfort sake, the YSS shock is hard and provides near no damping, would you happen to know of an alternative shock?

Tank: I thought of rising the tank by about 1-2", just pondering if I will suffer how much fuel capacity lost, spillage and balancing?

Under-Tank Wiring harness: I would like to junk the two chrome side covers and metal extension brackets. Can you share where you hid the rectifier and wiring to? Under the frame's head tube where there are some hollow space?

Paint: Any shop that can spray a decent matte black on tank, fenders, triple clamps, fork legs and wheels?

Hope this do not bore you. :)

For the wiring, yes you can put it under your tank. I personally do not go for Cafe. But I have a friend who did what you planned to, and it looks great! All the wires and brackets can go under the tank, by means of cable ties and black tape ;)

For the paint, that'll set you back $200-$250 at least. there are quite a few shops, this one gotta ask the rest of the PK bros. I support DIY paint. ;) the satisfaction!

Got bike must ride!

I'm ok with some DIY.. Just that the aerosol 1k paint will not stay long under our weather or resist petrol spills.

I think side covers, exhaust, engine, foot peg brackets and clamps etc can DIY. But ideally if they can be sand blasted so to have that satin base feel and grip for paint.

I used Nippon Pylux. And it works fine. Even for my tank, petrol spills, still the same old purple.

Hmm if you want to put in that effort, then by all means. For mine, Im not looking for perfection. ;) your choice la, in the end.
